Isaiah 3

1For, behold, the Lord, Jehovah of hostsH6635, doth take awayH5493 from JerusalemH3389 and from JudahH3063 stay and staffH4938, the whole stay of breadH3899, and the whole stay of waterH4325; 2the mightyH1368 manH376, and the manH376 of warH4421; the judgeH8199, and the prophetH5030, and the divinerH7080, and the elderH2205; 3the captain of fiftyH2572, and the honorable man, and the counsellor, and the expert artificer, and the skilful enchanter. 4And I will giveH5414 children to be their princesH8269, and babes shall ruleH4910 over them. 5And the peopleH5971 shall be oppressed, every oneH376 by another, and every oneH376 by his neighborH7453: the child shall behave himself proudly against the oldH2205 manH376, and the base against the honorable. 6When a manH376 shall take hold of his brotherH251 in the houseH1004 of his fatherH1, saying, Thou hast clothingH8071, beH1961 thou our rulerH7101, and let this ruin beH1961 under thy handH3027; 7in that dayH3117 shall he liftH5375 up his voice, sayingH559, I will not beH1961 a healer; for in my houseH1004 is neither breadH3899 nor clothingH8071: ye shall not makeH7760 me rulerH7101 of the peopleH5971. 8For JerusalemH3389 is ruined, and JudahH3063 is fallenH5307; because their tongueH3956 and their doings are against Jehovah, to provoke the eyesH5869 of his gloryH3519. 9The show of their countenance doth witness against them; and they declareH5046 their sinH2403 as SodomH5467, they hideH3582 it not. WoeH188 unto their soulH5315! for they have done evilH7451 unto themselves. 10SayH559 ye of the righteousH6662, that it shall be well with him; for they shall eatH398 the fruitH6529 of their doings. 11WoeH188 unto the wickedH7563! it shall be ill with him; for what his handsH3027 have done shall be done unto him. 12As for my peopleH5971, children are their oppressorsH5065, and womenH802 ruleH4910 over them. O my peopleH5971, they that lead thee cause thee to errH8582, and destroy the wayH1870 of thy pathsH734.

13Jehovah standeth up to contendH7378, and standeth to judgeH1777 the peoplesH5971. 14Jehovah will enter into judgmentH4941 with the eldersH2205 of his peopleH5971, and the princesH8269 thereof: It is ye that have eaten up the vineyardH3754; the spoil of the poorH6041 is in your housesH1004: 15what mean ye that ye crushH1792 my peopleH5971, and grindH2912 the faceH6440 of the poorH6041? saith the LordH136, Jehovah of hostsH6635.

16Moreover Jehovah saidH559, Because the daughtersH1323 of ZionH6726 are haughty, and walkH1980 with outstretchedH5186 necks and wanton eyesH5869, walkingH1980 and mincing as they goH1980, and making a tinkling with their feetH7272; 17therefore the Lord will smite with a scab the crown of the head of the daughtersH1323 of ZionH6726, and Jehovah will lay bareH6168 their secret parts. 18In that dayH3117 the LordH136 will take awayH5493 the beautyH8597 of their anklets, and the cauls, and the crescents; 19the pendantsH5188, and the bracelets, and the mufflers; 20the headtires, and the ankle chains, and the sashesH7196, and the perfume-boxes, and the amulets; 21the ringsH2885, and the nose-jewels; 22the festival robes, and the mantles, and the shawls, and the satchels; 23the hand-mirrors, and the fine linenH5466, and the turbansH6797, and the veils. 24And it shall come to pass, that instead of sweet spicesH1314 there shall beH1961 rottenness; and instead of a girdle, a rope; and instead of well set hair, baldnessH7144; and instead of a robe, a girding of sackclothH8242; branding instead of beautyH3308. 25Thy men shall fallH5307 by the swordH2719, and thy mightyH1369 in the warH4421. 26And her gates shall lamentH578 and mournH56; and she shall be desolate and sitH3427 upon the groundH776.
