Isaiah 13
American Standard Version
1The burdenH4853 of BabylonH894, which IsaiahH3470 the sonH1121 of AmozH531 did seeH2372.
2Set ye up an ensign upon the bareH8192 mountainH2022, liftH5375 up the voiceH6963 unto them, waveH5130 the handH3027, that they may goH935 into the gates of the noblesH5081. 3I have commandedH6680 my consecratedH6942 onesH1368, yea, I have calledH7121 my mightyH1368 menH1368 for mine angerH639, even my proudly exulting onesH1368. 4The noise of a multitudeH1995 in the mountainsH2022, as of a greatH7227 peopleH5971! the noise of a tumultH1995 of the kingdomsH4467 of the nationsH1471 gatheredH622 together! Jehovah of hostsH6635 is musteringH6485 the hostH6635 for the battleH4421. 5They comeH935 from a far country, from the uttermost part of heavenH8064, even Jehovah, and the weaponsH3627 of his indignationH2195, to destroy the whole landH776.
6WailH3213 ye; for the dayH3117 of Jehovah is at hand; as destructionH7701 from the AlmightyH7706 shall it comeH935. 7ThereforeH3651 shall all handsH3027 be feeble, and every heartH3824 of man shall meltH4549: 8and they shall be dismayedH926; pangs and sorrows shall takeH270 holdH270 of them; they shall be in pain as a woman in travail: they shall look in amazement oneH376 at another; their facesH6440 shall be facesH6440 of flameH3851. 9Behold, the dayH3117 of Jehovah cometh, cruelH394, with wrathH5678 and fierce angerH639; to makeH7760 the landH776 a desolationH8047, and to destroyH8045 the sinnersH2400 thereof out of it. 10For the starsH3556 of heavenH8064 and the constellations thereof shall not give their lightH216; the sunH8121 shall be darkened in its goingH3318 forthH3318, and the moonH3394 shall not cause its lightH216 to shineH5050. 11And I will punishH6485 the worldH8398 for their evilH7451, and the wickedH7563 for their iniquityH5771: and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to ceaseH7673, and will lay lowH8213 the haughtinessH1346 of the terrible. 12I will makeH3365 a manH120 more rare than fine goldH3800, even a manH120 than the pureH6337 goldH3800 of OphirH211. 13ThereforeH3651 I will make the heavensH8064 to trembleH7264, and the earthH776 shall be shakenH7493 out of its placeH4725, in the wrathH5678 of Jehovah of hostsH6635, and in the dayH3117 of his fierce angerH639. 14And it shall come to pass, that as the chased roe, and as sheepH6629 that no manH376 gathereth, they shall turnH6437 every manH376 to his own peopleH5971, and shall fleeH5127 every manH376 to his own landH776. 15Every one that is foundH4672 shall be thrust through; and every one that is taken shall fallH5307 by the swordH2719. 16Their infants also shall be dashedH7376 in pieces before their eyesH5869; their housesH1004 shall be rifled, and their wivesH802 ravished.
17Behold, I will stirH5782 up the Medes against them, who shall not regard silverH3701, and as for goldH2091, they shall not delightH2654 in it. 18AndtheirbowsH7198 shall dashH7376 the youngH5288 menH5288 in pieces; and they shall have no pityH2347 on the fruitH6529 of the wombH990; their eyeH5869 shall not spare children. 19And BabylonH894, the gloryH8597 of kingdomsH4467, the beautyH8597 of the Chaldeans’H3778 prideH1347, shall beH1961 as when GodH430 overthrew SodomH5467 and GomorrahH6017. 20It shall never be inhabitedH3427, neither shall it be dweltH3427 in from generationH1755 to generationH1755: neither shall the Arabian pitch tentH167 there; neither shall shepherdsH7462 make their flocks to lieH7257 down there. 21But wild beasts of the desert shall lieH7257 there; and their housesH1004 shall be fullH4390 of doleful creatures; and ostrichesH3284 shall dwellH7931 there, and wild goatsH8163 shall dance there. 22And wolves shall cry in their castles, and jackalsH8577 in the pleasant palacesH1964: and her timeH6256 is near to comeH935, and her daysH3117 shall not be prolongedH4900.
