Isaiah 50

American Standard Version

1ThusH3541 saith Jehovah, WhereH834 is the bill of your mother’sH517 divorcement, wherewith I have put her awayH7971? or which of my creditorsH5383 is it to whom I have soldH4376 you? Behold, for your iniquitiesH5771 were ye soldH4376, and for your transgressionsH6588 was your motherH517 put awayH7971. 2Wherefore, when I cameH935, was there no manH376? when I calledH7121, was there none to answerH6030? Is my handH3027 shortened at all, that it cannot redeem? or have I no power to deliverH5337? Behold, at my rebukeH1606 I dryH2717 up the seaH3220, I makeH7760 the riversH5104 a wildernessH4057: their fishH1710 stinkH887, because there is no waterH4325, and dieH4191 for thirstH6772. 3I clotheH3847 the heavensH8064 with blackness, and I makeH7760 sackclothH8242 their coveringH3682.

4The LordH136 Jehovah hath givenH5414 me the tongueH3956 of them that are taught, that I may knowH3045 how to sustain with wordsH1697 him that is wearyH3287: he wakeneth morningH1242 by morningH1242, he wakeneth mine earH241 to hearH8085 as they that are taught. 5The LordH136 Jehovah hath openedH6605 mine earH241, and I was not rebelliousH4784, neither turnedH5472 away backwardH268. 6I gaveH5414 my back to the smiters, and my cheeksH3895 to them that plucked off the hair; I hidH5641 not my faceH6440 from shame and spitting. 7For the LordH136 Jehovah will helpH5826 me; thereforeH3651 have I not been confounded: thereforeH3651 have I setH7760 my faceH6440 like a flintH2496, and I knowH3045 that I shall not be putH7760 to shameH954. 8He is near that justifieth me; who will contendH7378 with me? let us standH5975 up togetherH3162: who is mine adversary? let him come near to me. 9Behold, the LordH136 Jehovah will helpH5826 me; who is he that shall condemnH7561 me? behold, they all shall wax old as a garmentH899; the mothH6211 shall eatH398 them up.

10Who is among you that feareth Jehovah, that obeyeth the voiceH6963 of his servantH5650? he that walketh in darknessH2825, and hath no light, let him trustH982 in the nameH8034 of Jehovah, and relyH982 upon his GodH430. 11Behold, all ye that kindle a fireH784, that girdH247 yourselves about with firebrandsH2131; walk ye in the flame of your fireH784, and among the brands that ye have kindled. This shall ye have of my handH3027; ye shall lieH7901 down in sorrow.
