Isaiah 16
American Standard Version
1SendH7971 ye the lambsH3733 for the rulerH4910 of the landH776 from Selah to the wildernessH4057, unto the mount of the daughterH1323 of ZionH6726. 2For it shall beH1961 that, as wandering birdsH5775, as a scattered nestH7064, so shall the daughtersH1323 of MoabH4124 beH1961 at the fords of the ArnonH769. 3Give counselH6098, execute justice; makeH6213 thy shadeH6738 as the nightH3915 in the midstH8432 of the noonday; hideH5641 the outcastsH5080; betray not the fugitiveH5074. 4Let mine outcastsH5080 dwell with thee; as for MoabH4124, be thou a covert to him from the faceH6440 of the destroyerH7703. For the extortioner is broughtH3615 to nought, destructionH7701 ceaseth, the oppressors are consumed out of the landH776. 5And a throneH3678 shall be establishedH3559 in lovingkindness; and one shall sitH3427 thereon in truthH571, in the tentH168 of DavidH1732, judgingH8199, and seekingH1875 justiceH4941, and swift to do righteousnessH6664.
6We have heardH8085 of the prideH1346 of MoabH4124, thathe is veryH3966 proud; even of his arrogancy, and his prideH1346, and his wrathH5678; his boastings are nought. 7ThereforeH3651 shall MoabH4124 wailH3213 for MoabH4124, every one shall wailH3213: for the raisin-cakes of Kir-haresethH7025 shall ye mourn, utterly stricken. 8For the fieldsH7709 of HeshbonH2809 languishH535, and the vineH1612 of SibmahH7643; the lords of the nationsH1471 have broken down the choice branches thereof, which reachedH5060 even unto JazerH3270, which wanderedH8582 into the wildernessH4057; its shoots were spreadH5203 abroad, they passedH5674 over the seaH3220. 9ThereforeH3651 I will weepH1058 with the weepingH1065 of JazerH3270 for the vineH1612 of SibmahH7643; I will waterH7301 thee with my tearsH1832, O HeshbonH2809, and ElealehH500: for upon thy summerH7019 fruits and upon thy harvestH7105 the battle shoutH1959 is fallenH5307. 10And gladnessH8057 is taken away, and joyH8057 out of the fruitful field; and in the vineyardsH3754 there shall be no singing, neither joyful noise: no treaderH1869 shall treadH1869 out wineH3196 in the presses; I have made the vintage shoutH7321 to ceaseH7673. 11Wherefore my heart soundeth like a harpH3658 for MoabH4124, and mine inwardH7130 partsH4578 for Kir-heres. 12And it shall comeH935 to pass, when MoabH4124 presenteth himself, when he wearieth himself upon the highH1116 placeH1116, and shall comeH935 to his sanctuaryH4720 to prayH6419, that he shall not prevailH3201.
13This is the wordH1697 that Jehovah spake concerningH413 MoabH4124 in time past. 14But nowH6258 Jehovah hath spokenH1696, sayingH559, Within threeH7969 yearsH8141, as the yearsH8141 of a hireling, the gloryH3519 of MoabH4124 shall be brought into contempt, with all his greatH7227 multitudeH1995; and the remnantH7605 shall be very smallH4592 and of no account.
