Isaiah 58
American Standard Version
1Cry aloud, spare not, liftH7311 up thy voiceH6963 like a trumpetH7782, and declareH5046 unto my peopleH5971 their transgressionH6588, and to the houseH1004 of JacobH3290 their sinsH2403. 2Yet they seekH1875 me daily, and delightH2654 to know my waysH1870: as a nationH1471 that did righteousnessH6666, and forsook not the ordinanceH4941 of their GodH430, they askH7592 of me righteous judgmentsH4941; they delightH2654 to draw near unto GodH430. 3Wherefore have we fastedH6684, say they, and thou seest not? wherefore have we afflicted our soulH5315, and thou takest no knowledge? Behold, in the dayH3117 of your fastH6685 ye findH4672 your ownH5315 pleasureH2656, and exact all your labors. 4Behold, ye fastH6684 for strifeH7379 and contention, and to smite with the fistH106 of wickednessH7562: ye fastH6684 not this dayH3117 so as to makeH8085 your voiceH6963 to be heardH8085 on highH4791. 5Is such the fastH6685 that I have chosenH977? the dayH3117 for a manH120 to afflictH6031 his soulH5315? Is it to bow downH3721 his headH7218 as a rush, and to spreadH3331 sackclothH8242 and ashesH665 under him? wilt thou callH7121 this a fastH6685, and an acceptable dayH3117 to Jehovah? 6Is not this the fastH6685 that I have chosenH977: to loose the bonds of wickednessH7562, to undo the bands of the yoke, and to let the oppressed goH7971 freeH2670, and that ye break every yoke? 7Is it not to deal thy breadH3899 to the hungryH7457, and that thou bringH935 the poorH6041 that are cast out to thy houseH1004? when thou seest the nakedH6174, that thou coverH3680 him; and that thou hideH5956 not thyself from thine own fleshH1320? 8ThenH227 shall thy lightH216 breakH1234 forth as the morning, and thy healing shall springH6779 forth speedily; and thy righteousnessH6664 shall goH1980 before thee; the gloryH3519 of Jehovah shall be thy rearward. 9ThenH227 shalt thou callH7121, and Jehovah will answerH6030; thou shalt cry, and he will sayH559, HereH2005 I am.
If thou take awayH5493 from the midstH8432 of thee the yoke, the putting forthH7971 of the fingerH676, and speakingH1696 wickedly; 10and if thou draw out thy soulH5315 to the hungryH7457, and satisfyH7646 the afflicted soulH5315: then shall thy lightH216 riseH2224 in darknessH2822, and thine obscurity be as the noonday; 11and Jehovah will guideH5148 thee continuallyH8548, and satisfyH7646 thy soulH5315 in dry places, and make strong thy bonesH6106; and thou shalt beH1961 like a wateredH7302 gardenH1588, and like a spring of waterH4325, whose watersH4325 fail not. 12And they that shall be of thee shall buildH1129 the old wasteH2723 placesH2723; thou shalt raiseH6965 up the foundationsH4146 of many generationsH1755; and thou shalt be calledH7121 The repairer of the breachH6556, The restorer of pathsH5410 to dwellH3427 in.
13If thou turnH7725 awayH7725 thy footH7272 from the sabbathH7676, from doing thy pleasureH2656 on my holyH6944 dayH3117; and callH7121 the sabbathH7676 a delightH2656, and the holyH6944 of Jehovah honorable; and shalt honorH3513 it, not doing thine own waysH1870, nor findingH4672 thine own pleasureH2656, nor speakingH1696 thine own wordsH1697: 14thenH227 shalt thou delightH6026 thyself in Jehovah; and I will make thee to rideH7392 upon the highH1116 placesH1116 of the earthH776; and I will feed thee with the heritage of JacobH3290 thy fatherH1: for the mouthH6310 of Jehovah hath spokenH1696 it.
