Acts 27:18-44
18And as we labored exceedingly with the storm, the nextG1836 dayG1836 they began to throw the freight overboard; 19and the thirdG5154 day they castG4496 out with their own hands the tackling of the shipG4143. 20And when neither sunG2246 nor starsG798 shone upon us for manyG4183 daysG2250, and no smallG3641 tempest lay on us, all hopeG1680 that we should be savedG4982 was nowG1161 taken awayG4014. 21And when they had been long without food, then PaulG3972 stoodG2476 forth in the midstG3319 of them, and saidG3004, Sirs, ye should have hearkened unto me, and not have setG321 sailG321 from CreteG2914, and have gotten this injury and lossG2209. 22And nowG3568 I exhort you to beG1510 of good cheer; for there shall beG1510 no loss of lifeG5590 among you, but only of the shipG4143. 23For there stoodG3936 by me this nightG3571 an angelG32 of the GodG2316 whose I amG1510, whom alsoG2532 I serveG3000, 24sayingG3004, FearG5399 not, PaulG3972; thou must standG3936 before Cæsar: and lo, GodG2316 hath grantedG5483 thee all them that sailG4126 with thee. 25Wherefore, sirs, beG1510 of good cheer: for I believeG4100 GodG2316, that it shall beG1510 even soG3779 as it hath beenG1510 spokenG2980 unto me. 26But we must be cast upon a certainG5100 islandG3520.
27But whenG5613 the fourteenth nightG3571 was comeG1096, as we were driven to and fro in the sea of Adria, about midnight the sailorsG3492 surmised that they were drawing near to some countryG5561: 28and they sounded, and foundG2147 twentyG1501 fathomsG3712; and after a littleG1024 space, they sounded againG3825, and foundG2147 fifteenG1178 fathomsG3712. 29And fearingG5399 lestG3361 haply we should be castG4496 ashore on rocky ground, they let go fourG5064 anchorsG45 from the sternG4403, and wished for the dayG2250. 30And as the sailorsG3492 were seekingG2212 to fleeG5343 out of the shipG4143, and had lowered the boatG4143 into the seaG2281, under color as though they would lay out anchorsG45 from the foreship, 31PaulG3972 saidG3004 to the centurionG1543 and to the soldiersG4757, Except these abideG3306 in the shipG4143, ye cannot be savedG4982. 32Then the soldiersG4757 cutG609 away the ropes of the boat, and let her fall off. 33And while the dayG2250 was comingG1096 on, PaulG3972 besought them all to take some foodG5160, sayingG3004, This dayG2250 is the fourteenth dayG2250 that ye wait and continue fasting, having taken nothingG3367. 34Wherefore I beseech you to take some foodG5160: for this is for your safety: for there shall not a hairG2359 perishG622 from the headG2776 of any of you. 35And when he had saidG3004 this, and had takenG2983 breadG740, he gaveG2168 thanksG2168 to GodG2316 in the presenceG1799 of all; and he brake it, and beganG757 to eatG2068. 36Then were they all of good cheer, and themselves alsoG2532 took foodG5160. 37And we wereG1510 in all in the shipG4143 twoG1250 hundredG1250 threescore and sixteen soulsG5590. 38And when they had eaten enough, they lightened the shipG4143, throwing out the wheatG4621 into the seaG2281. 39And whenG3753 it was dayG2250, they knewG1921 not the landG1093: but they perceived a certainG5100 bay with a beach, and they took counsel whether they could drive the shipG4143 upon it. 40And casting off the anchorsG45, they left them in the seaG2281, at the sameG260 timeG260 loosing the bands of the rudders; and hoisting up the foresail to the wind, they made for the beach. 41But lighting upon a placeG5117 where two seas met, they ran the vessel aground; and the foreship struck and remainedG3306 unmoveable, but the sternG4403 began to breakG3089 up by the violenceG970 of the waves. 42And the soldiers’G4757 counselG1012 was to killG615 the prisonersG1202, lestG3361 any of them should swim out, and escape. 43But the centurionG1543, desiring to saveG1295 PaulG3972, stayed them from their purpose; and commandedG2753 that they who could swim should cast themselves overboard, and get firstG4413 to the landG1093; 44and the restG3062, some on planks, and some on otherG3062 thingsG3956 from the shipG4143. And so it cameG1096 to passG1096, that they all escaped safe to the landG1093.
