Acts 28:1-10
1When 1they had been broughtG1295 safelyG1295 throughG1295, 2thenG5119 we foundG1921 out that 3the islandG3520 was calledG2564 4MaltaG3194. 25The 6nativesG915 showedG3930 us extraordinaryG5177 kindnessG5363; for becauseG1223 of the rainG5205 that had setG2186 in and becauseG1223 of the coldG5592, they kindledG681 a fireG4443 and 7receivedG4355 us allG3956. 3But when PaulG3972 had gatheredG4962 a bundleG4128 of sticksG5434 and laidG2007 them on the fireG4443, a viperG2191 cameG1831 out 8becauseG575 of the heatG2329 and fastenedG2510 itself on his handG5495. 4WhenG5613 9the 10nativesG915 sawG3708 the creatureG2342 hangingG2910 from his handG5495, they began sayingG3004 to oneG240 anotherG240, “11UndoubtedlyG3843 thisG3778 manG444 is a murdererG5406, and though he has been savedG1295 from the seaG2281, 12justiceG1349 has not allowedG1439 him to liveG2198.” 5HoweverG3303G3767 13he shookG660 the creatureG2342 offG660 into the fireG4442 and sufferedG3958 noG3762 harmG2556. 6But they were expectingG4328 that he was aboutG3195 to swellG4092 up orG2228 suddenlyG869 fallG2667 downG2667 deadG3498. But after they had waitedG4328 a longG4183 time and had seenG2334 nothingG3367 unusualG824 happenG1096 to him, they changedG3328 their mindsG3328 and 14began to sayG3004 that he was a godG2316.
7NowG1161 in the neighborhoodG4012 of that placeG5117 were landsG5564 belonging to the leadingG4413 manG4413 of the islandG3520, namedG3686 PubliusG4196, whoG3739 welcomedG324 us and entertainedG3579 us courteouslyG5390 threeG5140 daysG2250. 8And it happenedG1096 that the fatherG3962 of PubliusG4196 was lyingG2621 in bed afflictedG4912 with recurrent feverG4446 and dysenteryG1420; and PaulG3972 wentG1525 in to see him and after he had 15prayedG4336, he 16laidG2007 his handsG5495 on him and healedG2390 him. 9After thisG3778 had happenedG1096, the restG3062 of the people on the islandG3520 who hadG2192 diseasesG769 were comingG4334 to him and gettingG2323 curedG2323. 10They also honoredG5091 us with manyG4183 17marksG5092 of respectG5092; and when we were settingG321 sailG321, they 18suppliedG2007 us with 19allG3588 we neededG5532.
