Deuteronomy 19
When Jehovah thy GodH430 shall cutH3772 off the nationsH1471, whose landH776 Jehovah thy GodH430 giveth thee, and thou succeedest them, and dwellest in their citiesH5892, and in their housesH1004; 2thou shalt setH5414 apartH914 threeH7969 citiesH5892 for thee in the midstH8432 of thy landH776, which Jehovah thy GodH430 giveth thee to possessH3423 it. 3Thou shalt prepareH3559 thee the wayH1870, and divideH5157 the bordersH1366 of thy landH776, which Jehovah thy GodH430 causeth thee to inheritH5157, into threeH8027 parts, that every manslayer may fleeH5127 thither.
And this is the case of the manslayer, that shall fleeH5127 thither and live: whoso killeth his neighborH7453 unawares, and hatedH8130 him not in time past; 5as whenH834 a man goeth into the forestH3293 with his neighborH7453 to hew woodH6086, and his handH3027 fetcheth a stroke with the axeH1631 to cutH3772 down the treeH6086, and the head slippeth from the helve, and lighteth upon his neighborH7453, so that he dieth; he shall fleeH5127 unto oneH259 of these citiesH5892 and live: 6lestH6435 the avengerH1350 of bloodH1818 pursueH7291 the manslayer, while his heartH3824 is hot, and overtakeH5381 him, because the wayH1870 is long, and smite him mortally; whereas he was not worthy of deathH4194, inasmuch as he hatedH8130 him not in time past. 7Wherefore I commandH6680 thee, sayingH559, Thou shalt setH914 apartH914 threeH7969 citiesH5892 for thee. 8And if Jehovah thy GodH430 enlargeH7337 thy borderH1366, as he hath swornH7650 unto thy fathersH1, and giveH5414 thee all the landH776 which he promised to giveH5414 unto thy fathersH1; 9if thou shalt keepH8104 all this commandmentH4687 to do it, which I commandH6680 thee this dayH3117, to loveH157 Jehovah thy GodH430, and to walk ever in his waysH1870; then shalt thou addH3254 threeH7969 citiesH5892 more for thee, besides these threeH7969: 10that innocentH5355 bloodH1818 beH1961 not shedH8210 in the midstH7130 of thy landH776, which Jehovah thy GodH430 giveth thee for an inheritanceH5159, and so bloodH1818 beH1961 upon thee.
But if any manH376 hateH8130 his neighborH7453, and lieH693 in waitH693 for him, and riseH6965 up against him, and smite him mortally so that he dieth, and he fleeH5127 into oneH259 of these citiesH5892; 12then the eldersH2205 of his cityH5892 shall sendH7971 and fetch him thence, and deliver him into the handH3027 of the avengerH1350 of bloodH1818, that he may dieH4191. 13Thine eyeH5869 shall not pityH2347 him, but thou shalt put away the innocentH5355 bloodH1818 from IsraelH3478, that it may go well with thee.
Thou shalt not remove thy neighbor’sH7453 landmark, which they of old timeH7223 have setH5414, in thine inheritanceH5159 which thou shalt inheritH5157, in the landH776 that Jehovah thy GodH430 giveth thee to possessH3423 it.
OneH259 witnessH5707 shall not riseH6965 up against a manH376 for any iniquityH5771, or for any sinH2398, in any sinH2398 that he sinneth: at the mouthH6310 of twoH8147 witnessesH5707, or at the mouthH6310 of threeH7969 witnessesH5707, shall a matterH1697 be establishedH6965. 16If an unrighteous witnessH5707 riseH6965 up against any manH376 to testifyH6030 against him of wrong-doing, 17then both the menH376, between whom the controversy is, shall standH5975 before Jehovah, before the priestsH3548 and the judgesH8199 that shall beH1961 in those daysH3117; 18and the judgesH8199 shall makeH3190 diligent inquisition: and, behold, if the witnessH5707 be a false witnessH5707, and have testified falsely against his brotherH251; 19then shall ye do unto him, as he had thought to do unto his brotherH251: so shalt thou put away the evilH7451 from the midstH7130 of thee. 20And those that remainH7604 shall hearH8085, and fearH3372, and shall henceforth commit no more any such evilH7451 in the midstH7130 of thee. 21And thine eyesH5869 shall not pityH2347; lifeH5315 shall go for lifeH5315, eyeH5869 for eyeH5869, toothH8127 for toothH8127, handH3027 for handH3027, footH7272 for footH7272.
