Deuteronomy 14
(Leviticus 11:1–47; Acts 10:9–16)
1YouH859 are sonsH1121 of the LORDH3068 your GodH430; do notH3808 cutH1413 yourselvesH3808 or shaveH7760 your foreheadsH996H5869 on behalf of the deadH4191, 2forH3588 youH859 are a peopleH5971 holyH6918 to the LORDH3068 your GodH430. The LORDH3068 has chosenH977 you to beH1961 a peopleH5971 for His prized possessionH5459 out of allH3605 the peoplesH5971 onH5921 the faceH6440 of the earthH127.
3You must notH3808 eatH398 anyH3605 detestable thingH8441. 4TheseH2063 are the animalsH929 thatH834 you may eatH398:1
The oxH7794H7716, the sheepH3775H7716, the goatH5795, 5the deerH354, the gazelleH6643, the roe deerH3180, the wild goatH689, the ibexH1788, the antelopeH8377, and the mountain sheepH2169.
6You may eatH398 anyH3605 animalH929 that has a splitH8157H6536 hoofH6541 dividedH8156 in twoH8147H6541 and that chewsH5927 the cudH1625H929.
7ButH389 of those that chewH5927 the cudH1625 or have a completely dividedH6536H8156 hoofH6541, you are notH3808 to eatH398 the followingH2088:
the camelH1581, the rabbitH768, or the rock badgerH8227.2 8AlthoughH3588 theyH1992 chewH5927 the cudH1625, they do notH3808 have a dividedH6536 hoofH6541. TheyH1992 are uncleanH2931 for you, as well asH853 the pigH2386H3588; though itH1931 has a dividedH6536 hoofH6541, it does notH3808 chew the cudH1625. ItH1931 is uncleanH2931 for you. You must notH3808 eatH398 its meatH1320 or touchH5060 its carcassH5038H3808. 9
Of allH3605 the creatures thatH834 live in the waterH4325, you may eatH398 anythingH3605 with finsH5579 and scalesH7193H398, 10but you may notH3808 eatH398 anythingH3605 thatH834 does notH369 have finsH5579 and scalesH7193; itH1931 is uncleanH2931 for you.
11You may eatH398 anyH3605 cleanH2889 birdH6833, 12but theseH2088 you may notH3808 eatH398:
the eagleH5404, the bearded vultureH6538, the black vultureH5822, 13the red kiteH7201, the falconH344, any kindH4327 of kiteH1772, 14anyH3605 kindH4327 of ravenH6158, 15the ostrichH1323H3284,3 the screech owlH8464, the gullH7828, any kindH4327 of hawkH5322, 16the little owlH3563, the great owlH3244, the white owlH8580, 17the desert owlH6893, the ospreyH7360, the cormorantH7994, 18the storkH2624, any kindH4327 of heronH601, the hoopoeH1744, or the batH5847.
19AllH3605 flyingH5775 insectsH8318 are uncleanH2931H1931 for you; they may notH3808 be eatenH398. 20But you may eatH398 anyH3605 cleanH2889 birdH5775.
21You are notH3808 to eatH398 anyH3605 carcassH5038; you may give itH5414 to the foreigner residingH1616 within your gatesH8179, and he may eat itH398, orH176 you may sellH4376 it to a foreignerH5237. ForH3588 youH859 are a holyH6918 peopleH5971 belonging to the LORDH3068 your GodH430.
You must notH3808 cookH1310 a young goatH1423 in its mother’sH517 milkH2461.
Giving Tithes
(Leviticus 27:30–34; Deuteronomy 26:1–15; Nehemiah 13:10–14)
22You must be sure to set aside a tenthH6237 of allH3605 the produceH8393H2233 brought forthH3318 each yearH8141 from your fieldsH7704. 23And you are to eatH398 a tenthH4643 of your grainH1715, new wineH8492, and oilH3323, and the firstbornH1060 of your herdsH1241 and flocksH6629, in the presenceH6440 of the LORDH3068 your GodH430 at the placeH4725 He will chooseH977H8033 as a dwellingH7931 for His NameH8034, so thatH4616 you may learnH3925 to fearH3372 the LORDH3068 your GodH430 alwaysH3605H3117.
24But ifH3588 the distanceH1870 is too greatH7235 forH4480 you to carryH5375 that with whichH3588 the LORDH3068 your GodH430 has blessed youH1288, becauseH3588H3808H3201 the placeH4725 whereH834 the LORDH3068 your GodH430 will chooseH977 to putH7760 His NameH8034H8033H3588 is too far awayH7368H4480, 25then exchangeH5414 it for moneyH3701, takeH6696 the moneyH3701 in your handH3027, and goH1980 toH413 the placeH4725 the LORDH3068 your GodH430 will chooseH977. 26Then you may spendH5414 the moneyH3701 on anythingH3605 youH5315 desireH183: cattleH1241, sheepH6629, wineH3196, strong drinkH7941, or anythingH3605 youH5315 wishH7592. You are to feastH398 thereH8033 in the presenceH6440 of the LORDH3068 your GodH430 and rejoiceH8055H859 with your householdH1004. 27And do notH3808 neglectH5800 the LeviteH3881 within your gatesH8179, sinceH3588 he has noH369 portionH2506 or inheritanceH5159 among youH5973.
28At the endH7097 of every threeH7969 yearsH8141, bringH3318 a tenthH4643 of allH3605 your produceH8393 for thatH1931 yearH8141 and lay it upH5117 within your gatesH8179. 29Then the LeviteH3881 (becauseH3588 he has noH369 portionH2506 or inheritanceH5159 among youH5973), the foreignerH1616, the fatherlessH3490, and the widowH490 within your gatesH8179 may comeH935 and eatH398 and be satisfiedH7646H4616. And the LORDH3068 your GodH430 will blessH1288 you in allH3605 the workH4639 of your handsH3027.
