The Shekinah Glory
11Now when SolomonH8010 had finishedH3615 prayingH6419, 2fireH784 cameH3381 downH3381 from heavenH8064 and consumedH398 the burntH5930 offeringH5930 and the sacrificesH2077, and the gloryH3519 of the LordH3068 filledH4390 the houseH1004. 23And the priestsH3548 couldH3201 not enterH935 the houseH1004 of the LordH3068 becauseH3588 the gloryH3519 of the LordH3068 filledH4390 the Lord’sH3068 houseH1004. 3AllH3605 the sonsH1121 of IsraelH3478, seeingH7200 the fireH784 comeH3381 downH3381 and the gloryH3519 of the LordH3068 upon the houseH1004, bowedH3766 downH3766 on the pavementH7531 with their facesH639 to the groundH776, and they worshipedH2331 and gaveH3034 praiseH3034 to the LordH3068, saying, “4CertainlyH3588 He is goodH2896, certainlyH3588 His faithfulnessH2617 is everlastingH5769.”
Sacrifices Offered
45Then the kingH4428 and allH3605 the peopleH5971 offeredH2076 sacrificeH2077 beforeH6440 the LordH3068. 5KingH4428 SolomonH8010 offeredH2076 a sacrificeH2077 of twenty-twoH6242H8147 thousandH505 oxenH1241 and 120,000H3967H6242H505 sheepH6629. So the kingH4428 and allH3605 the peopleH5971 dedicatedH2596 the houseH1004 of GodH430. 6The priestsH3548 stoodH5975 at their postsH4931, and 6the LevitesH3881 also, with the musicalH7892 instrumentsH3627 for the LordH3068, whichH834 KingH4428 DavidH1732 had madeH6213 for givingH3034 praiseH3034 to the LordH3068-for His faithfulnessH2617 is everlastingH5769”--whenever David gaveH1984 praiseH1984 through their 7ministryH3027; 8the priestsH3548 on the otherH5048 sideH5048 blewH2690 trumpetsH2690 and allH3605 IsraelH3478 was standingH5975.
79Then SolomonH8010 consecratedH6942 the middleH8432 of the courtyardH2691 that was beforeH6440 the houseH1004 of the LordH3068, for he offeredH6213 the burntH5930 offeringsH5930 and the fatH2459 of the peaceH8002 offeringsH8002 thereH8033, becauseH3588 the bronzeH5178 altarH4196 whichH834 SolomonH8010 had madeH6213 wasH3201 not ableH3201 to containH3557 the burntH5930 offeringH5930, the grain offeringH4503, and the fatH2459.
The Feast of Dedication
8So 10SolomonH8010 heldH6213 the feastH2282 at that timeH6256 for sevenH7651 daysH3117, and allH3605 IsraelH3478 with him, a veryH3966 greatH1419 assemblyH6951 that came from the entranceH935 of HamathH2574 to the 11brookH5158 of EgyptH4714. 9And on the eighthH8066 dayH3117 they heldH6213 12a solemnH6116 assemblyH6116, becauseH3588 they heldH6213 the dedicationH2598 of the altarH4196 for sevenH7651 daysH3117, and the feastH2282 for sevenH7651 daysH3117. 10Then on the twenty-thirdH6242H7969 dayH3117 of the seventhH7637 monthH2320 he sentH7971 the peopleH5971 to their tentsH168, rejoicingH8056 and happyH2896 in heartH3820 becauseH5921 of the goodnessH2899 that the LordH3068 had shownH6213 to DavidH1732, to SolomonH8010, and to His peopleH5971 IsraelH3478.
God’s Promise and Warning
1113So SolomonH8010 finishedH3615 the houseH1004 of the LordH3068 and the king’sH4428 palaceH1004, and successfullyH6743 completedH6743 everythingH3605 that 14he had plannedH935H5921H3820 on doingH6213 in the houseH1004 of the LordH3068 and in his palaceH1004.
12Then the LordH3068 appearedH7200 to SolomonH8010 at nightH3915 and saidH559 to him, “I have heardH8085 your prayerH8605 and 15have chosenH977 thisH2088 placeH4725 for Myself as a houseH1004 of sacrificeH2077. 1316IfH2005 I shutH6113 upH6113 the heavensH8064 so that there is noH3808 rainH4306, or ifH2005 I commandH6680 the locustH2284 to devourH398 the landH776, or ifH518 I sendH7971 a plagueH1698 among My peopleH5971, 1417and My peopleH5971 18whoH834 are calledH7121 by My nameH8034 humbleH3665 themselves, and prayH6419 and seekH1245 My faceH6440, and turnH7725 from their wickedH7451 waysH1870, then I will hearH8085 from heavenH8064, and I will forgiveH5545 their sinH2403 and will healH7495 their landH776. 1519NowH6258 My eyesH5869 will be openH6605 and My earsH241 attentiveH7183 to the 20prayerH8605 offered in thisH2088 placeH4725. 16For 21nowH6258 I have chosenH977 and consecratedH6942 thisH2088 houseH1004 so that My nameH8034 may be thereH8033 foreverH5704H5769, and My eyesH5869 and My heartH3820 will be thereH8033 22alwaysH3605H3117. 17As for you, ifH518 you walkH1980 beforeH6440 Me as your fatherH1 DavidH1732 walkedH1980, to doH6213 according to everythingH3605 that I have commandedH6680 you, and keepH8104 My statutesH2706 and My ordinancesH4941, 18then I will establishH6965 your royalH4438 throneH3678 as I covenantedH3772 with your fatherH1 DavidH1732, sayingH559, ‘2324You shall not lackH3772 a manH376 to be rulerH4910 in IsraelH3478.’
19“25But ifH518 you turnH7725 awayH7725 and abandonH5800 My statutesH2708 and My commandmentsH4687 whichH834 I have setH5414 beforeH6440 you, and goH1980 and serveH5647 otherH312 godsH430 and worshipH2331 them, 2026then I will uprootH5428 27you from My landH127 whichH834 I have givenH5414 28you, and thisH2088 houseH1004 whichH834 I have consecratedH6942 for My nameH8034 I will castH7993 outH7993 of My sightH6440; and I will makeH5414 it 29a proverbH4912 and an objectH8148 ofH8148 scornH8148 among allH3605 peoplesH5971. 21As for thisH2088 houseH1004, whichH834 was exaltedH5945, everyoneH3605 who passesH5674 by it will beH8074 astonishedH8074 and sayH559, ‘30WhyH4100 has the LordH3068 doneH6213 theseH3602 thingsH3602 to thisH2088 landH776 and to thisH2088 houseH1004?’ 22And they will sayH559, ‘BecauseH5921H834 31they abandonedH5800 the LordH3068, the GodH430 of their fathersH1, whoH834 broughtH3318 them from the landH776 of EgyptH4714, and they adoptedH2388 otherH312 godsH430, and worshipedH2331 and servedH5647 them; thereforeH5921H3651 He has broughtH935 allH3605 thisH2088 adversityH7463 on them.’”
