2 Chronicles 7

American Standard Version

1Now when SolomonH8010 had made an endH3615 of prayingH6419, the fireH784 cameH3381 downH3381 from heavenH8064, and consumedH398 the burnt-offering and the sacrificesH2077; and the gloryH3519 of Jehovah filledH4390 the houseH1004. 2And the priestsH3548 could not enter into the houseH1004 of Jehovah, because the gloryH3519 of Jehovah filledH4390 Jehovah’s houseH1004. 3And all the children of IsraelH3478 lookedH7200 on, when the fireH784 cameH3381 downH3381, and the gloryH3519 of Jehovah was upon the houseH1004; and they bowedH7812 themselves with their facesH639 to the groundH776 upon the pavementH7531, and worshipped, and gaveH3034 thanksH3034 unto Jehovah, saying, For he is goodH2896; for his lovingkindness endureth for everH5769.

4Then the kingH4428 and all the peopleH5971 offeredH2076 sacrificeH2077 before Jehovah. 5And kingH4428 SolomonH8010 offeredH2076 a sacrificeH2077 of twentyH6242 and twoH8147 thousandH505 oxenH1241, and a hundredH3967 and twentyH6242 thousandH505 sheepH6629. So the kingH4428 and all the peopleH5971 dedicated the houseH1004 of GodH430. 6And the priestsH3548 stoodH5975, according to their offices; the LevitesH3881 also with instrumentsH3627 of music of Jehovah, which DavidH1732 the kingH4428 had madeH6213 to giveH3034 thanksH3034 unto Jehovah (for his lovingkindness endureth for everH5769), when DavidH1732 praisedH1984 by their ministry: and the priestsH3548 sounded trumpetsH2690 before them; and all IsraelH3478 stoodH5975. 7Moreover SolomonH8010 hallowed the middleH8432 of the courtH2691 that was before the houseH1004 of Jehovah; for there he offered the burnt-offerings, and the fatH2459 of the peace-offerings, because the brazen altarH4196 which SolomonH8010 had madeH6213 was not ableH3201 to receive the burnt-offering, and the meal-offering, and the fatH2459.

8So SolomonH8010 held the feastH2282 at that timeH6256 sevenH7651 daysH3117, and all IsraelH3478 with him, a veryH3966 greatH1419 assemblyH6951, from the entrance of HamathH2574 unto the brook of EgyptH4714. 9And on the eighthH8066 dayH3117 they held a solemnH6116 assemblyH6116: for they kept the dedicationH2598 of the altarH4196 sevenH7651 daysH3117, and the feastH2282 sevenH7651 daysH3117. 10And on the threeH7969 and twentieth dayH3117 of the seventhH7637 monthH2320 he sentH7971 the peopleH5971 awayH7971 unto their tentsH168, joyfulH8056 and glad of heartH3820 for the goodness that Jehovah had showed unto DavidH1732, and to SolomonH8010, and to IsraelH3478 his peopleH5971.

11Thus SolomonH8010 finishedH3615 the houseH1004 of Jehovah, and the king’sH4428 houseH1004: and all that cameH935 into Solomon’s heartH3820 to makeH6213 in the houseH1004 of Jehovah, and in his own houseH1004, he prosperously effected. 12And Jehovah appearedH7200 to SolomonH8010 by nightH3915, and saidH559 unto him, I have heardH8085 thy prayerH8605, and have chosenH977 this placeH4725 to myself for a houseH1004 of sacrificeH2077. 13If I shutH6113 up the heavensH8064 so that there is no rainH4306, or if I commandH6680 the locust to devourH398 the landH776, or if I sendH7971 pestilenceH1698 among my peopleH5971; 14if my peopleH5971, who are calledH7121 by my nameH8034, shall humbleH3665 themselves, and prayH6419, and seekH1245 my faceH6440, and turnH7725 from their wickedH7451 waysH1870; then will I hearH8085 from heavenH8064, and will forgiveH5545 their sinH2403, and will healH7495 their landH776. 15NowH6258 mine eyesH5869 shall beH1961 openH6605, and mine earsH241 attent, unto the prayerH8605 that is made in this placeH4725. 16For nowH6258 have I chosenH977 and hallowed this houseH1004, that my nameH8034 may beH1961 there for everH5769; and mine eyesH5869 and my heartH3820 shall beH1961 there perpetually. 17And as for thee, if thou wilt walkH1980 before me as DavidH1732 thy fatherH1 walkedH1980, and do according to all that I have commandedH6680 thee, and wilt keepH8104 my statutesH2706 and mine ordinancesH4941; 18then I will establishH6965 the throneH3678 of thy kingdomH4438, according as I covenanted with DavidH1732 thy fatherH1, sayingH559, There shall not fail thee a manH376 to be rulerH4910 in IsraelH3478.

19But if ye turnH7725 awayH7725, and forsakeH5800 my statutesH2708 and my commandmentsH4687 which I have setH5414 before you, and shall goH1980 and serveH5647 otherH312 godsH430, and worship them; 20then will I pluckH5428 them up by the roots out of my landH127 which I have givenH5414 them; and this houseH1004, which I have hallowed for my nameH8034, will I castH7993 out of my sight, and I will makeH5414 it a proverbH4912 and a bywordH4912 among all peoplesH5971. 21And this houseH1004, which is so high, every oneH2088 that passeth by it shall beH1961 astonished, and shall sayH559, WhyH4100 hath Jehovah done thusH3602 unto this landH776, and to this houseH1004? 22And they shall answer, Because they forsook Jehovah, the GodH430 of their fathersH1, who broughtH935 them forthH3318 out of the landH776 of EgyptH4714, and laid holdH2388 on otherH312 godsH430, and worshipped them, and servedH5647 them: thereforeH3651 hath he broughtH935 all this evilH7451 upon them.
