2 Chronicles 29
American Standard Version
1HezekiahH2396 began to reignH4427 when he was fiveH2568 and twentyH6242 yearsH8141 old; and he reignedH4427 nineH8672 and twentyH6242 yearsH8141 in JerusalemH3389: and his mother’sH517 nameH8034 was AbijahH29, the daughterH1323 of ZechariahH2148. 2And he did that which was rightH3477 in the eyesH5869 of Jehovah, according to all that DavidH1732 his fatherH1 had done. 3He in the firstH7223 yearH8141 of his reignH4427, in the firstH7223 monthH2320, openedH6605 the doorsH1817 of the houseH1004 of Jehovah, and repairedH2388 them. 4And he broughtH935 in the priestsH3548 and the LevitesH3881, and gatheredH622 them together into the broad place on the eastH4217, 5and saidH559 unto them, HearH8085 me, ye LevitesH3881; nowH6258 sanctifyH6942 yourselves, and sanctifyH6942 the houseH1004 of Jehovah, the GodH430 of your fathersH1, and carry forthH3318 the filthiness out of the holyH6944 placeH6944. 6For our fathersH1 have trespassed, and done that which was evilH7451 in the sight of Jehovah our GodH430, and have forsaken him, and have turnedH5437 awayH5437 their facesH6440 from the habitation of Jehovah, and turnedH5437 their backsH6203. 7AlsoH1571 they have shutH5462 up the doorsH1817 of the porchH197, and put out the lampsH5216, and have not burned incenseH7004 nor offeredH5927 burnt-offerings in the holyH6944 placeH6944 unto the GodH430 of IsraelH3478. 8Wherefore the wrathH7110 of Jehovah wasH1961 upon JudahH3063 and JerusalemH3389, and he hath delivered them to beH1961 tossed to and fro, to beH1961 an astonishment, and a hissing, as ye seeH7200 with your eyesH5869. 9For, lo, our fathersH1 have fallenH5307 by the swordH2719, and our sonsH1121 and our daughtersH1323 and our wivesH802 are in captivityH7628 for this. 10NowH6258 it is in my heartH3824 to makeH3772 a covenantH1285 with Jehovah, the GodH430 of IsraelH3478, that his fierce angerH639 may turnH7725 awayH7725 from us. 11My sonsH1121, beH1961 not nowH6258 negligent; for Jehovah hath chosen you to standH5975 before him, to minister unto him, and that ye should beH1961 his ministers, and burn incenseH6999.
12Then the LevitesH3881 aroseH6965, MahathH4287, the sonH1121 of AmasaiH6022, and JoelH3100 the sonH1121 of AzariahH5838, of the sonsH1121 of the KohathitesH6956; and of the sonsH1121 of MerariH4847, KishH7027 the sonH1121 of AbdiH5660, and AzariahH5838 the sonH1121 of JehallelelH3094; and of the Gershonites, JoahH3098 the sonH1121 of ZimmahH2155, and EdenH5731 the sonH1121 of JoahH3098; 13and of the sonsH1121 of ElizaphanH469, ShimriH8113 and Jeuel; and of the sonsH1121 of AsaphH623, ZechariahH2148 and MattaniahH4983; 14and of the sonsH1121 of HemanH1968, Jehuel and ShimeiH8096; and of the sonsH1121 of JeduthunH3038, ShemaiahH8098 and UzzielH5816. 15And they gatheredH622 their brethren, and sanctifiedH6942 themselves, and wentH935 in, according to the commandmentH4687 of the kingH4428 by the wordsH1697 of Jehovah, to cleanseH2891 the houseH1004 of Jehovah. 16And the priestsH3548 wentH3318 in unto the inner part of the houseH1004 of Jehovah, to cleanseH2891 it, and broughtH935 out all the uncleannessH2932 that they foundH4672 in the temple of Jehovah into the courtH2691 of the houseH1004 of Jehovah. And the LevitesH3881 took it, to carry it out abroad to the brook KidronH6939. 17Now they beganH2490 on the firstH7223 dayH3117 of the firstH7223 monthH2320 to sanctifyH6942, and on the eighth dayH3117 of the monthH2320 cameH935 they to the porchH197 of Jehovah; and they sanctifiedH6942 the houseH1004 of Jehovah in eightH8083 daysH3117: and on the sixteenth dayH3117 of the firstH7223 monthH2320 they madeH6942 an endH3615. 18Then they wentH935 in to HezekiahH2396 the kingH4428 within the palace, and saidH559, We have cleansedH2891 all the houseH1004 of Jehovah, and the altarH4196 of burnt-offering, with all the vesselsH3627 thereof, and the tableH7979 of showbread, with all the vesselsH3627 thereof. 19Moreover all the vesselsH3627, which kingH4428 AhazH271 in his reignH4438 did cast away whenH834 he trespassed, have we preparedH3559 and sanctifiedH6942; and, behold, they are before the altarH4196 of Jehovah.
20Then HezekiahH2396 the kingH4428 arose earlyH7925, and gatheredH622 the princesH8269 of the cityH5892, and wentH5927 up to the houseH1004 of Jehovah. 21And they broughtH935 sevenH7651 bullocks, and sevenH7651 ramsH352, and sevenH7651 lambsH3532, and sevenH7651 he-goats, for a sin-offering for the kingdomH4467 and for the sanctuaryH4720 and for JudahH3063. And he commanded the priestsH3548 the sonsH1121 of AaronH175 to offerH5927 them on the altarH4196 of Jehovah. 22So they killed the bullocks, and the priestsH3548 received the bloodH1818, and sprinkledH2236 it on the altarH4196: and they killed the ramsH352, and sprinkledH2236 the bloodH1818 upon the altarH4196: they killed also the lambsH3532, and sprinkledH2236 the bloodH1818 upon the altarH4196. 23And they broughtH5066 near the he-goats for the sin-offering before the kingH4428 and the assemblyH6951; and they laidH5564 their handsH3027 upon them: 24and the priestsH3548 killed them, and they made a sin-offering with their bloodH1818 upon the altarH4196, to make atonementH3722 for all IsraelH3478; for the kingH4428 commanded that the burnt-offering and the sin-offering should be made for all IsraelH3478.
25And he setH5975 the LevitesH3881 in the houseH1004 of Jehovah with cymbalsH4700, with psalteries, and with harpsH3658, according to the commandmentH4687 of DavidH1732, and of GadH1410 the king’sH4428 seerH2374, and NathanH5416 the prophetH5030; for the commandmentH4687 was of Jehovah by his prophetsH5030. 26And the LevitesH3881 stoodH5975 with the instrumentsH3627 of DavidH1732, and the priestsH3548 with the trumpetsH2689. 27And HezekiahH2396 commanded to offerH5927 the burnt-offering upon the altarH4196. And when the burnt-offering beganH2490, the songH7892 of Jehovah beganH2490 also, and the trumpetsH2689, together with the instrumentsH3627 of DavidH1732 kingH4428 of IsraelH3478. 28And all the assemblyH6951 worshipped, and the singersH7891 sangH7891, and the trumpeters sounded; all this continued until the burnt-offering was finishedH3615.
29And when they had made an endH3615 of offeringH5927, the kingH4428 and all that were present with him bowedH7812 themselves and worshipped. 30Moreover HezekiahH2396 the kingH4428 and the princesH8269 commanded the LevitesH3881 to sing praises unto Jehovah with the wordsH1697 of DavidH1732, and of AsaphH623 the seerH2374. And they sang praises with gladnessH8057, and they bowedH7812 their heads and worshipped.
31Then HezekiahH2396 answered and saidH559, NowH6258 ye have consecrated yourselves unto Jehovah; comeH935 near and bringH935 sacrificesH2077 and thank-offerings into the houseH1004 of Jehovah. And the assemblyH6951 broughtH935 in sacrificesH2077 and thank-offerings; and as many as were of a willingH5081 heartH3820 broughtH935 burnt-offerings. 32And the numberH4557 of the burnt-offerings which the assemblyH6951 broughtH935 wasH1961 threescore and ten bullocks, a hundredH3967 ramsH352, and twoH3967 hundredH3967 lambsH3532: all these were for a burnt-offering to Jehovah. 33And the consecratedH6942 thingsH7969 were sixH8337 hundredH3967 oxenH1241 and threeH7969 thousandH505 sheepH6629. 34But the priestsH3548 wereH1961 too fewH4592, so that they could not flay all the burnt-offerings: wherefore their brethren the LevitesH3881 did help them, till the workH4399 wasH1961 endedH3615, and until the priestsH3548 had sanctifiedH6942 themselves; for the LevitesH3881 wereH1961 more uprightH3477 in heartH3824 to sanctifyH6942 themselves than the priestsH3548. 35And alsoH1571 the burnt-offerings were in abundanceH7230, with the fatH2459 of the peace-offerings, and with the drink-offerings for every burnt-offering. So the serviceH5656 of the houseH1004 of Jehovah was set in order. 36And HezekiahH2396 rejoicedH8055, and all the peopleH5971, because of that which GodH430 had preparedH3559 for the peopleH5971: for the thingH1697 wasH1961 done suddenlyH6597.
