Acts 23:16-33
16But Paul’s sister’s sonG5207 heardG191 of their lying in wait, and he cameG3854 and enteredG1525 into the castle and toldG518 PaulG3972. 17And PaulG3972 calledG4341 unto him oneG1520 of the centurionsG1543, and saidG5346, Bring this youngG3494 manG3778 unto the chief captain; for he hath somethingG5100 to tellG518 him. 18So he tookG3880 him, and broughtG71 him to the chief captain, and saith, PaulG3972 the prisonerG1198 calledG4341 me unto him, and askedG2065 me to bringG71 this youngG3495 manG3778 unto thee, who hath somethingG5100 to sayG2980 to thee. 19And the chief captain took him by the handG5495, and going aside askedG4441 him privately, What isG1510 it that thou hast to tellG518 me? 20And he saidG3004, The JewsG2453 have agreed to askG2065 thee to bringG2609 down PaulG3972 to-morrow unto the councilG4892, as though thou wouldest inquireG4441 somewhat more exactly concerningG4012 him. 21Do not thou thereforeG3767 yield unto them: for there lie in wait for him of them moreG4183 than fortyG5062 menG435, who have bound themselves under a curse, neither to eatG2068 nor to drinkG4095 till they have slain him: and nowG3568 areG1510 they readyG2092, looking for the promiseG1860 from thee. 22So the chief captain let the youngG3495 manG3778 goG630, charging him, Tell no manG3778 that thou hast signified these thingsG3778 to me. 23And he called unto him twoG1417 of the centurionsG1543, and saidG3004, MakeG2090 readyG2090 twoG1417 hundredG1250 soldiersG4757 to goG4198 as farG2193 as Cæsarea, and horsemenG2460 threescore and ten, and spearmen twoG1417 hundredG1250, at the thirdG5154 hourG5610 of the nightG3571: 24and he bade them provide beasts, that they might set PaulG3972 thereon, and bring him safe unto FelixG5344 the governorG2232. 25And he wroteG1125 a letterG1992 after this form:
26ClaudiusG2804 LysiasG3079 unto the mostG2903 excellentG2903 governorG2232 FelixG5344, greetingG5463. 27This manG435 wasG1510 seized by the JewsG2453, and wasG1510 about to beG1510 slain of them, when I cameG2186 upon them with the soldiers and rescued him, having learnedG3129 that he wasG1510 a RomanG4514. 28And desiring to knowG1921 the causeG156 wherefore they accused him, I broughtG2609 him downG2609 unto their councilG4892: 29whom I foundG2147 to be accused about questionsG2213 of their lawG3551, but to have nothingG3367 laid to his charge worthyG514 of deathG2288 or of bonds. 30And when it wasG1510 shown to me that there would beG1510 a plotG1917 against the manG435, I sentG3992 him to thee forthwith, charging his accusersG2725 alsoG2532 to speakG3004 against him before thee.
31So the soldiersG4757, as it was commandedG1299 them, tookG353 PaulG3972 and broughtG71 him by nightG3571 to Antipatris. 32But on the morrow they left the horsemenG2460 to goG565 with him, and returnedG5290 to the castle: 33and they, when they cameG1525 to Cæsarea and delivered the letterG1992 to the governorG2232, presentedG3936 PaulG3972 alsoG2532 before him.
