22But the fatherπατὴρpatērG3962saidG3004to his slavesδούλουςdoulousG1401, ‘QuicklyG5035bringἐξενέγκατεexenegkateG1627outG1627the bestπρώτηνprōtēnG4413robeστολὴνstolēnG4749and putἐνδύσατεendusateG1746it on him, andputδότεdoteG1325a ringδακτύλιονdaktulionG1146on his fingerχεῖραcheiraG5495and sandalsὑποδήματαhupodēmataG5266on his feetπόδας,podasG4228;

23and bringφέρετεphereteG5342the fattenedσιτευτόν,siteutonG4618calfμόσχονmoschonG3448,slaughterθύσατε,thusateG2380it, and let’s eatG2068and celebrateεὐφρανθῶμεν,euphranthōmenG2165;

24for thisοὗτοςhoutosG3778sonυἱόςhuiosG5207of mineG1473wasdeadνεκρὸςnekrosG3498and has comeG326toG326lifeG326againG326;he was lostἀπολωλὼςapolōlōsG622and has been foundεὑρέθη.heurethēG2147.’And they beganἤρξαντοērxantoG757to celebrateεὐφραίνεσθαι.¶euphrainesthaiG2165.

26And he summonedπροσκαλεσάμενοςproskalesamenosG4341oneἕναhenaG1520of the servantsπαίδωνpaidōnG3816and beganinquiringἐπυνθάνετοepunthanetoG4441whatτί ἂνti anG5101 G302theseG3778thingsταῦτα.¶tautaG3778could be.

27And he saidG3004to him, ‘Your brotherἀδελφόςadelphosG80hasG2240comeἥκει,hēkeiG2240,and your fatherπατήρpatērG3962has slaughteredἔθυσενethusenG2380the fattenedσιτευτόν,siteutonG4618calfμόσχονmoschonG3448becauseG3754he has receivedG618him backG618safeG5198andG5198soundG5198.’

28But he becameG3710angryὠργίσθηōrgisthēG3710and was not willingἤθελενēthelenG2309to goεἰσελθεῖν.eiseltheinG1525inG1525;and his fatherπατὴρpatērG3962cameG1831outG1831and beganpleadingπαρεκάλειparekaleiG3870with him.

29But he answeredἀποκριθεὶςapokritheisG611and saidG3004to his fatherπατρὶpatriG3962, ‘LookἰδοὺidouG2400!For soτοσαῦταtosautaG5118manyG5118yearsἔτηetēG2094I have been servingδουλεύωdouleuōG1398you and I have neverοὐδέποτεoudepoteG3763neglectedπαρῆλθον,parēlthonG3928a commandἐντολήνentolēnG1785of yoursG4771; and yetyou neverοὐδέποτεoudepoteG3763gaveἔδωκαςedōkasG1325me a youngG2056goatG2056,soG2443thatG2443I might celebrateεὐφρανθῶ.euphranthōG2165with my friendsφίλωνphilōnG5384;

30but whenὅτεhoteG3753thisοὗτοςhoutosG3778sonυἱόςhuiosG5207of yoursG4771cameἦλθεν,ēlthenG2064,who has devouredκαταφαγώνkataphagōnG2719yourwealthβίονbionG979with prostitutesπορνῶνpornōnG4204,you slaughteredἔθυσαςethusasG2380the fattenedσιτευτὸνsiteutonG4618calfμόσχον.¶moschonG3448for him.’

31And he saidG3004to him, ‘Sonτέκνον,teknonG5043, youhave alwaysπάντοτεpantoteG3842beenG1510with me, and allπάνταpantaG3956that is mineG1699is yoursG4674.

32But we hadἔδει,edeiG1163to celebrateεὐφρανθῆναιeuphranthēnaiG2165and rejoiceχαρῆναιcharēnaiG5463,becauseὅτιhotiG3754thisοὗτοςhoutosG3778brotherἀδελφόςadelphosG80of yoursσουsouG4771wasdeadνεκρὸςnekrosG3498and has begunto liveἔζησεν,ezēsenG2198, and waslostἀπολωλὼςapolōlōsG622and has been foundεὑρέθη.¶heurethēG2147.’”
