Darby Bible
Deuteronomy 28:38-48
Thou shalt carry muchH7227 seedH2233 out into the fieldH7704, and shalt gatherH622 littleH4592 in; for the locustH697 shall devour it.
Thou shalt plantH5193 and till vineyardsH3754, but shalt drinkH8354 no wineH3196, nor gatherH103 [the fruit]; for the wormsH8438 shall eatH398 it.
Olive-trees shalt thou have throughout all thy bordersH1366, but thou shalt not anointH5480 thyself with oilH8081; for thine olive-tree shall cast its fruit.
SonsH1121 and daughtersH1323 shalt thou beget, but thou shalt not have them [to beH1961 with thee]; for they shall go into captivityH7628.
All thy treesH6086 and the fruitH6529 of thy groundH127 shall the locust possessH3423.
The sojournerH1616 that is in thy midstH7130 shall rise above thee higher and higher, and thou shalt sink down lower and lower.
He shall lendH3867 to thee, but thou shalt not lendH3867 to him: he shall beH1961 the headH7218, and thou shalt beH1961 the tailH2180.
And all these cursesH7045 shall comeH935 upon thee, and shall pursueH7291 thee, and overtakeH5381 thee, until thou be destroyedH8045; because thou hearkenedst not unto the voiceH6963 of Jehovah thy 1GodH430, to keepH8104 his commandmentsH4687 and his statutesH2708 which he commandedH6680 thee.
And they shall beH1961 upon thee for a signH226 and for a wonderH4159, and upon thy seedH2233 for everH5769.
Because thou servedst not Jehovah thy 2GodH430 with joyfulness, and with gladnessH8057 of heartH3824, for the abundanceH7230 of everythingH3605,
thou shalt serveH5647 thine enemiesH341 whom Jehovah will sendH7971 against thee, in hungerH7458, and in thirstH6772, and in nakednessH5903, and in want of everythingH3605; and he shall putH5414 a yokeH5923 of ironH1270 upon thy neckH6677, until he have destroyedH8045 thee.
