Deuteronomy 18:9-22
9When thou art comeH935 into the landH776 which Jehovah thy 1GodH430 giveth thee, thou shalt not learnH3925 to do according to the abominationsH8441 of those nationsH1471. 10There shall not be foundH4672 among you he that maketh his sonH1121 or his daughterH1323 to passH5674 through the fireH784, that useth divinationH7081, that useth auguries, or an enchanter, or a sorcererH3784, 11or a charmer, or oneH2266 that inquireth of a spirit of Python, or a soothsayer, or oneH2266 that consulteth the deadH4191. 12For every one that doeth these thingsH428 is an abominationH8441 to Jehovah, and because of these abominationsH8441 Jehovah thy 2GodH430 doth dispossessH3423 them from before thee. 13Thou shalt beH1961 perfectH8549 with Jehovah thy 3GodH430. 14For these nationsH1471, which thou shalt dispossessH3423, hearkened unto those that use auguries, and that use divination; but as for thee, Jehovah thy 4GodH430 hath not suffered thee [to do] soH3651. 15Jehovah thy 5GodH430 will raiseH6965 up unto thee a prophetH5030 from the midstH7130 of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him shall ye hearken; 16according to all that thou desiredst of Jehovah thy 6GodH430 at HorebH2722 on the dayH3117 of the assemblyH6951, sayingH559, Let me not hearH8085 againH5750 the voiceH6963 of Jehovah my 7GodH430, neither let me seeH7200 this greatH1419 fireH784 any more, that I dieH4191 not. 17And Jehovah saidH559 unto me, They have wellH3190 spokenH1696 that which they have spokenH1696. 18A prophetH5030 will I raiseH6965 up unto them from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will putH5414 my wordsH1697 in his mouthH6310, and he shall speakH1696 unto them all that I shall commandH6680 him. 19And it shall come to pass that the manH376 who hearkeneth not unto my wordsH1697 which he shall speakH1696 in my nameH8034, I will requireH1875 it of him. 20But the prophetH5030 who shall presume to speakH1696 a wordH1697 in my nameH8034 that I have not commandedH6680 him to speakH1696, or that shall speakH1696 in the nameH8034 of otherH312 8godsH430, that prophetH5030 shall dieH4191. 21And if thou sayH559 in thy heartH3824, HowH349 shall we knowH3045 the wordH1697 that Jehovah hath not spokenH1696? 22When a prophetH5030 speaketh in the nameH8034 of Jehovah, and the thingH1697 followeth not, nor cometh to pass, that is the wordH1697 which Jehovah hath not spokenH1696; the prophetH5030 hath spokenH1696 it presumptuously: beH1961 not afraidH1481 of him.
