2 Chronicles 8

American Standard Version

1And it came to pass at the endH7093 of twentyH6242 yearsH8141, wherein SolomonH8010 had builtH1129 the houseH1004 of Jehovah, and his own houseH1004, 2that the citiesH5892 which HuramH2361 had givenH5414 to SolomonH8010, SolomonH8010 builtH1129 them, and caused the children of IsraelH3478 to dwellH3427 there.

3And SolomonH8010 went to Hamath-zobah, and prevailedH2388 against it. 4And he builtH1129 TadmorH8412 in the wildernessH4057, and all the store-cities, which he builtH1129 in HamathH2574. 5Also he builtH1129 Beth-horonH1032 the upperH5945, and Beth-horonH1032 the nether, fortified citiesH5892, with wallsH2346, gates, and barsH1280; 6and BaalathH1191, and all the store-cities that SolomonH8010 had, and all the citiesH5892 for his chariotsH7393, and the citiesH5892 for his horsemenH6571, and all that SolomonH8010 desired to buildH1129 for his pleasure in JerusalemH3389, and in LebanonH3844, and in all the landH776 of his dominion.

7As for all the peopleH5971 that were leftH3498 of the HittitesH2850, and the AmoritesH567, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, that were not of IsraelH3478; 8of their children that were leftH3498 after them in the landH776, whom the children of IsraelH3478 consumed not, of them did SolomonH8010 raise a levy of bondservants unto this dayH3117. 9But of the children of IsraelH3478 did SolomonH8010 makeH5414 no servantsH5650 for his workH4399; but they were menH376 of warH4421, and chiefH8269 of his captains, and rulers of his chariotsH7393 and of his horsemenH6571. 10And these were the chiefH8269 officers of kingH4428 SolomonH8010, even twoH3967 hundredH3967 and fiftyH2572, that bare ruleH7287 over the peopleH5971.

11And SolomonH8010 broughtH935 up the daughterH1323 of PharaohH6547 out of the cityH5892 of DavidH1732 unto the houseH1004 that he had builtH1129 for her; for he saidH559, My wifeH802 shall not dwellH3427 in the houseH1004 of DavidH1732 kingH4428 of IsraelH3478, because the places are holyH6944, whereunto the arkH727 of Jehovah hath comeH935.

12ThenH227 SolomonH8010 offeredH5927 burnt-offerings unto Jehovah on the altarH4196 of Jehovah, which he had builtH1129 before the porchH197, 13even as the duty of every dayH3117 required, offeringH5927 according to the commandmentH4687 of MosesH4872, on the sabbathsH7676, and on the newH2320 moonsH2320, and on the set feastsH4150, threeH7969 timesH6471 in the yearH8141, even in the feastH2282 of unleavenedH4682 breadH4682, and in the feastH2282 of weeksH7620, and in the feastH2282 of tabernacles.

14And he appointedH5975, according to the ordinanceH4941 of DavidH1732 his fatherH1, the courses of the priestsH3548 to their serviceH5656, and the LevitesH3881 to their offices, to praiseH1984, and to minister before the priestsH3548, as the dutyH4931 of every dayH3117 required; the doorkeepers also by their courses at every gateH8179: for soH3651 had DavidH1732 the manH376 of GodH430 commandedH4687. 15And they departedH5493 not from the commandmentH4687 of the kingH4428 unto the priestsH3548 and LevitesH3881 concerning any matterH1697, or concerning the treasuresH214.

16Now all the workH4399 of SolomonH8010 was preparedH3559 unto the dayH3117 of the foundationH4143 of the houseH1004 of Jehovah, and until it was finishedH3615. So the houseH1004 of Jehovah was completedH3615.

17ThenH227 wentH1980 SolomonH8010 to Ezion-geberH6100, and to Eloth, on the sea-shore in the landH776 of EdomH123. 18And HuramH2361 sentH7971 him by the handsH3027 of his servantsH5650 shipsH591, and servantsH5650 that had knowledge of the seaH3220; and they cameH935 with the servantsH5650 of SolomonH8010 to OphirH211, and fetched from thence fourH702 hundredH3967 and fiftyH2572 talentsH3603 of goldH2091, and broughtH935 them to kingH4428 SolomonH8010.
