Chronicles 25:6-16
He hiredH7936 also a hundredH3967 thousandH505 mightyH1368 menH1368 of valour out of IsraelH3478 for a hundredH3967 talentsH3603 of silverH3701.
But there cameH935 a manH376 of 1GodH430 to him, sayingH559, O kingH4428, let not the hostH6635 of IsraelH3478 goH935 with thee; for Jehovah is not with IsraelH3478, [with] all the children of EphraimH669.
But if thou wilt goH935, do [it]; be strongH2388 for the battleH4421: 2GodH430 will makeH6213 thee fall before the enemyH341, for there is with 3GodH430 powerH3581 to helpH5826 and to cast down.
And AmaziahH558 saidH559 to the manH376 of 4GodH430, But what is to be done for the hundredH3967 talentsH3603 which I have givenH5414 to the troopH1416 of IsraelH3478? And the manH376 of 5GodH430 saidH559, Jehovah is able to giveH5414 thee muchH7235 more than this.
Then AmaziahH558 separatedH914 them, — the troopH1416 that was comeH935 to him out of EphraimH669, — to goH935 home again. And their angerH639 was greatly kindled against JudahH3063, and they returnedH7725 home in fierce angerH639.
But AmaziahH558 strengthenedH2388 himself, and ledH5090 forth his peopleH5971, and went to the valleyH1516 of saltH4417, and smote of the children of SeirH8165 tenH6235 thousandH505.
And the children of JudahH3063 tookH7617 tenH6235 thousandH505 captiveH7617, aliveH2416, and broughtH935 them to the topH7218 of the cliffH5553, and castH7993 them downH7993 from the topH7218 of the cliffH5553, so that they all were brokenH1234 in pieces.
But those of the troopH1416 that AmaziahH558 had sent backH7725, that they should not goH7725 with him to battleH4421, fell upon the citiesH5892 of JudahH3063 from SamariaH8111 as far as Beth-horonH1032, and smote threeH7969 thousandH505 of them, and tookH962 muchH7227 spoilH962.
And it cameH935 to pass after AmaziahH558 wasH1961 comeH935 from the slaughter of the EdomitesH130, that he broughtH935 the 6godsH430 of the children of SeirH8165, and setH5975 them up to beH1961 his 7godsH430, and bowedH7812 himself downH5221 before them, and burned incenseH6999 to them.
And the angerH639 of Jehovah was kindled against AmaziahH558, and he sentH7971 to him a prophetH5030, who saidH559 to him, WhyH4100 dost thou seekH1875 after the 8godsH430 of a peopleH5971 who have not deliveredH5337 their own peopleH5971 out of thy handH3027?
And it came to pass as he talked with him, that [Amaziah] saidH559 to him, Hast thou beenH1961 madeH6213 the king's counsellor? Forbear; whyH4100 shouldest thou beH1961 smitten? Then the prophetH5030 forbore, and saidH559, I knowH3045 that 9GodH430 has determined to destroyH7843 thee, because thou hast done this, and hast not hearkened to my counselH6098.
