2 Chronicles 25:6-16
6He hiredH7936 also 100,000H3967H505 valiantH2428 warriorsH1368 out of IsraelH3478 for one hundredH3967 talentsH3603 of silverH3701. 7But 1a manH376 of GodH430 cameH935 to him sayingH559, “O kingH4428, do not let the armyH6635 of IsraelH3478 goH935 with you, for the LordH3068 is not with IsraelH3478 nor with anyH3605 of the sonsH1121 of EphraimH669. 8But ifH518 you do goH935, doH6213 it, be strongH2388 for the battleH4421; yet GodH430 will 2bringH3782 you downH3782 beforeH6440 the enemyH340, 3for GodH430 hasH3426 powerH3581 to helpH5826 and to 4bringH3782 downH3782.” 9AmaziahH558 saidH559 to the manH376 of GodH430, “But whatH4100 shall we doH6213 for the hundredH3967 talentsH3603 whichH834 I have givenH5414 to the troopsH1416 of IsraelH3478?” And the manH376 of GodH430 answeredH559, “5The LordH3068 hasH3426 muchH7235 moreH7235 to giveH5414 you thanH4480 thisH2088.” 10Then AmaziahH558 6dismissedH914 them, the troopsH1416 whichH834 cameH935 to him from EphraimH669, to goH1980 homeH4725; so their angerH639 burnedH2734 against JudahH3063 and they returnedH7725 7homeH4725 in fierceH2750 angerH639.
11Now AmaziahH558 strengthenedH2388 himself and ledH5090 his peopleH5971 forthH5090, and wentH1980 to 8the ValleyH1516 of SaltH4417 and struckH5221 downH5221 10,000H6235H505 of the sonsH1121 of SeirH8165. 12The sonsH1121 of JudahH3063 also capturedH7617 10,000H6235H505 aliveH2416 and broughtH935 them to the topH7218 of the cliffH5553 and threwH7993 them downH7993 from the topH7218 of the cliffH5553, so that they were allH3605 dashedH1234 to piecesH1234. 13But the 9troopsH1121H1416 whomH834 AmaziahH558 sentH7725 backH7725 from goingH1980 with him to battleH4421, raidedH6584 the citiesH5892 of JudahH3063, from SamariaH8111 to Beth-horonH1032, and struckH5221 downH5221 3,000H7969H505 of them and plunderedH962 muchH7227 spoilH961.
14Now afterH310 AmaziahH558 cameH1961 from slaughteringH5221 the EdomitesH130, 10he broughtH935 the godsH430 of the sonsH1121 of SeirH8165, setH5975 them up as his godsH430, bowedH7812 downH7812 beforeH6440 them and burnedH6999 incenseH6999 to them. 15Then the angerH639 of the LordH3068 burnedH2734 against AmaziahH558, and He sentH7971 him a prophetH5030 who saidH559 to him, “WhyH4100 have you soughtH1875 the godsH430 of the peopleH5971 11whoH834 have not deliveredH5337 their own peopleH5971 from your handH3027?” 16As he was talkingH1696 with him, 12the king saidH559 to him, “Have we appointedH5414 you a royalH4428 counselorH3289? StopH2308! WhyH4100 should you be struckH5221 downH5221?” Then the prophetH5030 stoppedH2308 and saidH559, “I knowH3045 that GodH430 has plannedH3289 to destroyH7843 you, becauseH3588 you have doneH6213 thisH2088 and have not listenedH8085 to my counselH6098.”
