Revised Version 1895
Chronicles 25:6-16
He hiredH7936 also an hundredH3967 thousandH505 mightyH1368 menH1368 of valour out of IsraelH3478 for an hundredH3967 talentsH3603 of silverH3701.
But there cameH935 a manH376 of GodH430 to him, sayingH559, O kingH4428, letH408 notH369 the armyH6635 of IsraelH3478 goH935 with thee; for the LORDH3068 is notH369 with IsraelH3478, to wit, with allH3605 the childrenH1121 of EphraimH669.
But ifH518 thou wilt goH935, doH6213 valiantlyH2388, be strongH2388 for the battleH4421: GodH430 shall castH3782 thee downH3782 beforeH6440 the enemyH341; for GodH430 hath powerH3581 to helpH5826, and to castH3782 downH3782.
And AmaziahH558 saidH559 to the manH376 of GodH430, But whatH4100 shall weH834 doH6213 for the hundredH3967 talentsH3603 whichH834 I have givenH5414 to the army of IsraelH3478? And the manH376 of GodH430 answeredH559, The LORDH3068 is able to giveH5414 thee muchH7235 moreH7235 thanH7235 this.
Then AmaziahH558 separatedH914 them, to wit, the army that was comeH935 to him outH413 of EphraimH669, to goH935 homeH4725 againH7725: wherefore their angerH639 was greatlyH3966 kindledH2734 againstH413 JudahH3063, and they returnedH7725 homeH4725 in fierceH2750 angerH639.
And AmaziahH558 tookH2388 courageH2388, and ledH5090 forth his peopleH5971, and went to the ValleyH1516 of SaltH4417, and smoteH5221 of the childrenH1121 of SeirH8165 tenH6235 thousandH505.
And otherH3605 tenH6235 thousandH505 did the childrenH1121 of JudahH3063 carryH935 awayH7993 aliveH2416, and broughtH935 them unto the topH7218 of the rockH5553, and castH7993 them downH7993 from the topH7218 of the rockH5553, that they allH3605 were brokenH1234 in piecesH1234.
But the menH1121 of the armyH4421 whichH834 AmaziahH558 sentH7725 backH7725, that they should notH1121 goH7725 with him to battleH4421, fell upon the citiesH5892 of JudahH3063, from SamariaH8111 evenH5704 unto Beth-horonH1032, and smoteH5221 of them threeH7969 thousandH505, and tookH962 muchH7227 spoilH962.
NowH1961 it cameH935 to passH935, afterH310 that AmaziahH558 was comeH935 from the slaughterH5221 of the EdomitesH130, that he broughtH935 the godsH430 of the childrenH1121 of SeirH8165, and setH5975 them upH5975 to be his godsH430, and bowedH7812 downH5221 himselfH7812 beforeH6440 them, and burnedH6999 incenseH6999 unto them.
Wherefore the angerH639 of the LORDH3068 was kindledH2734 againstH413 AmaziahH558, and he sentH7971 unto him a prophetH5030, whichH834 saidH559 unto him, WhyH4100 hast thou soughtH1875 afterH413 the godsH430 of the peopleH5971, whichH834 have notH3808 deliveredH5337 their own peopleH5971 outH7971 of thine handH3027?
And it cameH1961 to passH1961, as he talkedH1696 with him, that the kingH4428 saidH559 unto him, Have weH3588 madeH6213 thee of the king’sH4428 counselH6098? forbear; whyH4100 shouldest thou be smittenH5221? Then the prophetH5030 forbare, and saidH559, I knowH3045 that GodH430 hath determined to destroyH7843 thee, becauseH3588 thou hast doneH6213 this, and hast notH3808 hearkened unto my counselH6098.
