2 Chronicles 12
Revised Version 1895
1And it cameH1961 to passH1961, when the kingdomH4438 of RehoboamH7346 was establishedH3559, and he was strongH2393, that he forsook the lawH8451 of the LORDH3068, and allH3605 IsraelH3478 with him. 2And it cameH1961 to passH1961 in the fifthH2549 yearH8141 of kingH4428 RehoboamH7346, that ShishakH7895 kingH4428 of EgyptH4714 cameH1961 upH5927 againstH5921 JerusalemH3389, becauseH3588 they had trespassed againstH5921 the LORDH3068, 3with twelve hundredH3967 chariotsH7393, and threescore thousandH505 horsemenH6571: and the peopleH5971 were withoutH369 numberH4557 that cameH935 with him outH935 of EgyptH4714; the LubimH3864, the SukkiimH5525, and the EthiopiansH3569. 4And he tookH3920 the fenced citiesH5892 whichH834 pertained to JudahH3063, and cameH935 unto JerusalemH3389. 5NowH935 ShemaiahH8098 the prophetH5030 cameH935 to RehoboamH7346, and to the princesH8269 of JudahH3063, that were gatheredH622 togetherH622 to JerusalemH3389 becauseH834 of ShishakH7895, and saidH559 unto them, ThusH3541 saith the LORDH3068, Ye have forsaken meH413, therefore have I also leftH5800 youH859 in the handH3027 of ShishakH7895. 6Then the princesH8269 of IsraelH3478 and the kingH4428 humbledH3665 themselvesH3665; and they saidH559, The LORDH3068 is righteousH6662. 7And when the LORDH3068 sawH7200 that they humbledH3665 themselvesH1992, the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068 cameH1961 to ShemaiahH8098, sayingH559, They have humbledH3665 themselvesH1992; I will notH3808 destroyH7843 them: but I will grantH5414 them someH1992 deliveranceH6413, and my wrathH2534 shall notH3808 be pouredH5413 outH413 uponH1961 JerusalemH3389 by the handH3027 of ShishakH7895. 8NeverthelessH3588 they shall be his servantsH5650; that they may knowH3045 my serviceH5656, and the serviceH5656 of the kingdomsH4467 of the countriesH776. 9SoH6213 ShishakH7895 kingH4428 of EgyptH4714 cameH5927 upH5927 againstH5921 JerusalemH3389, and tookH3947 awayH3947 the treasuresH214 of the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068, and the treasuresH214 of the king’sH4428 houseH1004; he tookH3947 allH3605 awayH3947: he tookH3947 awayH3947 also the shieldsH4043 of goldH2091 whichH834 SolomonH8010 had madeH6213. 10And kingH4428 RehoboamH7346 madeH6213 in their steadH8478 shieldsH4043 of brassH5178, and committedH6213 them to the handsH3027 of the captainsH8269 of the guardH8104, that keptH8104 the doorH6607 of the king’sH4428 houseH1004. 11And it was soH1961, that as oft as the kingH4428 enteredH935 intoH413 the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068, the guardH7323 cameH935 and bare them, and broughtH935 them backH7725 intoH413 the guardH7323 chamber. 12And when he humbledH3665 himselfH3665, the wrathH639 of the LORDH3068 turnedH7725 from him, that he would notH3808 destroyH7843 him altogether: and moreoverH1571 in JudahH3063 there were goodH2896 things foundH1571. 13SoH834 kingH4428 RehoboamH7346 strengthenedH2388 himselfH2388 in JerusalemH3389, and reignedH4427: for RehoboamH7346 was fortyH705 and one yearsH8141 oldH1121 when he began to reignH4427, and he reignedH4427 seventeenH6240 yearsH8141 in JerusalemH3389, the cityH5892 whichH834 the LORDH3068 had chosenH977 outH2388 of allH3605 the tribesH7626 of IsraelH3478, to putH7760 his nameH8034 there: and his mother’sH517 nameH8034 was NaamahH5279 the AmmonitessH5985. 14And he didH6213 that which was evilH7451, becauseH3588 he setH3559 notH3808 his heartH3820 to seekH1875 the LORDH3068. 15NowH3117 the actsH1697 of RehoboamH7346, firstH7223 and lastH314, are they notH3808 writtenH3789 in the histories of ShemaiahH8098 the prophetH5030 and of IddoH5714 the seerH2374, afterH3117 the mannerH1697 of genealogiesH3187? And there were warsH4421 betweenH4421 RehoboamH7346 and JeroboamH3379 continuallyH3117. 16And RehoboamH7346 sleptH7901 with his fathersH1, and was buriedH6912 in the cityH5892 of DavidH1732: and AbijahH29 his sonH1121 reignedH4427 in his steadH8478.
