2 Chronicles 12

Shishak of Egypt Invades Judah

11When the kingdomH4438 of RehoboamH7346 was establishedH3559 and strongH2393, 2he and allH3605 IsraelH3478 with him forsookH5800 the lawH8451 of the LordH3068. 23And it cameH1961 about in KingH4428 Rehoboam’sH7346 fifthH2549 yearH8141, becauseH3588 they had beenH4603 unfaithfulH4603 to the LordH3068, that 4ShishakH7895 kingH4428 of EgyptH4714 cameH5927 up againstH5921 JerusalemH3389 3with 1,200H505H3967 chariotsH7393 and 60,000H8346H505 horsemenH6571. And the peopleH5971 whoH834 cameH935 with him from EgyptH4714 were withoutH369 numberH4557: 5the LubimH3864, the SukkiimH5525 and the EthiopiansH3569. 4He capturedH3920 6the fortifiedH4694 citiesH5892 of JudahH3063 and cameH935 as farH5704 as JerusalemH3389. 5Then 7ShemaiahH8098 the prophetH5030 cameH935 to RehoboamH7346 and the princesH8269 of JudahH3063 whoH834 had gatheredH622 at JerusalemH3389 becauseH4480H6440 of ShishakH7895, and he saidH559 to them, “ThusH3541 saysH559 the LordH3068, ‘8You have forsakenH5800 Me, so I alsoH637 have forsakenH5800 you 9to ShishakH7895.’” 6So the princesH8269 of IsraelH3478 and the kingH4428 humbledH3665 themselves and saidH559, “The 10LordH3068 is righteousH6662.”

7When the LordH3068 sawH7200 that they humbledH3665 themselves, the wordH1697 of the LordH3068 cameH1961 to ShemaiahH8098, sayingH559, “11They have humbledH3665 themselves so I will not destroyH7843 them, but I will grantH5414 them someH4592 measure of deliveranceH6413, and 12My wrathH2534 shall not be pouredH5413 out on JerusalemH3389 by meansH3027 of ShishakH7895. 8But they will becomeH1961 his slavesH5650 so 13that they may learnH3045 the difference between My serviceH5656 and the serviceH5656 of the kingdomsH4467 of the countriesH776.”

Plunder Impoverishes Judah

914So ShishakH7895 kingH4428 of EgyptH4714 cameH5927 up againstH5921 JerusalemH3389, and tookH3947 the treasuresH214 of the houseH1004 of the LordH3068 and the treasuresH214 of the king’sH4428 palaceH1004. He tookH3947 everythingH3605; 15he even tookH3947 the goldenH2091 shieldsH4043 whichH834 SolomonH8010 had madeH6213. 10Then KingH4428 RehoboamH7346 madeH6213 shieldsH4043 of bronzeH5178 in their placeH8478 and committedH6485 them to the 16careH3027 of the commandersH8269 of the 17guardH7323 who guardedH8104 the doorH6607 of the king’sH4428 houseH1004. 11As oftenH1767 as the kingH4428 enteredH935 the houseH1004 of the LordH3068, the 18guardsH7323 cameH935 and carriedH5375 them and then broughtH7725 them backH7725 into the 19guards’H7323 roomH8372. 12And 20when he humbledH3665 himself, the angerH639 of the LordH3068 turnedH7725 awayH7725 from him, so as not to destroyH7843 him completelyH3617; and alsoH1571 conditionsH1697 21were goodH2896 in JudahH3063.

1322So KingH4428 RehoboamH7346 strengthenedH2388 himself in JerusalemH3389 and reignedH4427. NowH3588 RehoboamH7346 was forty-oneH705H259 yearsH8141 oldH1121 when he began to reignH4427, and he reignedH4427 seventeenH7651H6240 yearsH8141 in JerusalemH3389, the cityH5892 whichH834 the LordH3068 had chosenH977 from allH3605 the tribesH7626 of IsraelH3478, to putH7760 His nameH8034 thereH8033. And his mother’sH517 nameH8034 was NaamahH5279 the AmmonitessH5985. 14He didH6213 evilH7451 23becauseH3588 he did not setH3559 his heartH3820 to seekH1875 the LordH3068.

1524Now the actsH1697 of RehoboamH7346, from firstH7223 to lastH314, are they not writtenH3789 in the 25recordsH1697 of 26ShemaiahH8098 the prophetH5030 and of 27IddoH5714 the seerH2374, according to genealogicalH3187 enrollmentH3187? And there were warsH4421 between RehoboamH7346 and JeroboamH3379 continuallyH3605H3117. 16And RehoboamH7346 sleptH7901 with his fathersH1 and was buriedH6912 in the cityH5892 of DavidH1732; and his sonH1121 28AbijahH29 becameH4427 kingH4427 in his placeH8478.
