Matthew 2
1NowG1161 when JesusG2424 was bornG1080 in BethlehemG965 of Judæa in the daysG2250 of HerodG2264 the kingG935, beholdG2400, Wise-men from the eastG395 cameG3854 to JerusalemG2414, saying, 2WhereG4226 isG1510 he that isG1510 bornG5088 KingG935 of the JewsG2453? for we sawG3708 his starG792 in the eastG395, and areG1510 comeG2064 to worshipG4352 him. 3And when HerodG2264 the kingG935 heardG191 it, he was troubledG5015, and all JerusalemG2414 with him. 4And gatheringG4863 togetherG4863 all the chiefG749 priestsG749 and scribesG1122 of the peopleG2992, he inquiredG4441 of them whereG4226 the ChristG5547 should be bornG1080. 5And they saidG3004 unto him, In BethlehemG965 of Judæa: for thusG3779 it is writtenG1125 through the prophetG4396,
7ThenG5119 HerodG2264 privily calledG2564 the Wise-men, and learned of them exactly what timeG5550 the starG792 appearedG5316. 8And he sentG3992 them to BethlehemG965, and saidG3004, GoG4198 and search out exactly concerningG4012 the young childG3813; and when ye have foundG2147 him, bring me wordG518, that I alsoG2532 may comeG2064 and worshipG4352 him. 9And they, having heardG191 the kingG935, went their way; and lo, the starG792, which they sawG3708 in the eastG395, went before them, till it cameG2064 and stoodG2476 over whereG3757 the young childG3813 wasG1510. 10And when they sawG3708 the starG792, they rejoicedG5463 with exceeding greatG3173 joyG5479. 11And they cameG2064 into the houseG3614 and sawG3708 the young childG3813 with MaryG3137 his motherG3384; and they fellG4098 downG4098 and worshipped him; and openingG455 their treasuresG2344 they offeredG4374 unto him giftsG1435, goldG5557 and frankincenseG3030 and myrrhG4666. 12And being warnedG5537 of God in a dreamG3677 that they should not returnG344 to HerodG2264, they departed into their own countryG5561 another wayG3598.
13NowG1161 when they wereG1510 departed, beholdG2400, an angelG32 of the LordG2962 appeareth to JosephG2501 in a dreamG3677, sayingG3004, AriseG1453 and takeG3880 the young childG3813 and his motherG3384, and fleeG5343 into EgyptG125, and beG1510 thou there until I tellG3004 thee: for HerodG2264 will seekG2212 the young childG3813 to destroyG622 him. 14And he arose and tookG3880 the young childG3813 and his motherG3384 by nightG3571, and departed into EgyptG125; 15and wasG1510 there until the death of HerodG2264: that it might beG1510 fulfilled which wasG1510 spoken by the LordG2962 through the prophetG4396, sayingG3004, Out of EgyptG125 did I callG2564 my sonG5207.
16Then HerodG2264, when he sawG3708 that he was mockedG1702 of the Wise-men, was exceeding wroth, and sentG649 forthG649, and slew all the male childrenG3816 that were in BethlehemG965, and in all the borders thereof, from two years old and under, accordingG2596 to the timeG5550 which he had exactly learned of the Wise-men. 17ThenG5119 was fulfilled that which was spoken through JeremiahG2408 the prophetG4396, sayingG3004,
19But when HerodG2264 was dead, beholdG2400, an angelG32 of the LordG2962 appeareth in a dreamG3677 to JosephG2501 in EgyptG125, saying, 20AriseG1453 and takeG3880 the young childG3813 and his motherG3384, and goG4198 into the landG1093 of IsraelG2474: for they are dead that soughtG2212 the young child’sG3813 lifeG5590. 21And he arose and tookG3880 the young childG3813 and his motherG3384, and cameG1525 into the landG1093 of IsraelG2474. 22But when he heardG191 that Archelaus was reigningG936 over Judæa in the room of his fatherG3962 HerodG2264, he was afraidG5399 to goG565 thither; and being warnedG5537 of God in a dreamG3677, he withdrew into the partsG3313 of GalileeG1056, 23and cameG2064 and dwelt in a cityG4172 calledG2564 NazarethG3478; that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through the prophetsG4396, that he should be calledG2564 a Nazarene.
