Jeremiah 44
1The wordH1697 that came to JeremiahH3414 concerningH413 all the JewsH3064 that dweltH3427 in the landH776 of EgyptH4714, that dweltH3427 at MigdolH4024, and at TahpanhesH8471, and at MemphisH5297, and in the country of PathrosH6624, sayingH559, 2ThusH3541 saith Jehovah of hostsH6635, the GodH430 of IsraelH3478: Ye have seenH7200 all the evilH7451 that I have broughtH935 upon JerusalemH3389, and upon all the citiesH5892 of JudahH3063; and, behold, this dayH3117 they are a desolationH2723, and no man dwelleth therein, 3because of their wickednessH7451 which they have committed to provokeH3707 me to angerH3707, in that they went to burn incenseH6999, and to serveH5647 otherH312 godsH430, that they knewH3045 not, neither they, nor ye, nor your fathersH1. 4Howbeit I sentH7971 unto you all my servantsH5650 the prophetsH5030, risingH7925 up earlyH7925 and sendingH7971 them, sayingH559, Oh, do not this abominable thingH1697 that I hateH8130. 5But they hearkened not, nor inclinedH5186 their earH241 to turnH7725 from their wickednessH7451, to burn no incenseH6999 unto otherH312 godsH430. 6Wherefore my wrathH2534 and mine angerH639 wasH1961 pouredH5413 forth, and wasH1961 kindled in the citiesH5892 of JudahH3063 and in the streetsH2351 of JerusalemH3389; and they are wasted and desolate, as it is this dayH3117. 7ThereforeH6258 nowH6258 thusH3541 saith Jehovah, the GodH430 of hostsH6635, the GodH430 of IsraelH3478: Wherefore commit ye this greatH1419 evilH7451 against your own soulsH5315, to cutH3772 off from you manH376 and womanH802, infant and suckling, out of the midstH8432 of JudahH3063, to leaveH3498 you none remainingH3498; 8in that ye provokeH3707 me unto angerH3707 with the worksH4639 of your handsH3027, burning incenseH6999 unto otherH312 godsH430 in the landH776 of EgyptH4714, whither ye are goneH935 to sojourn; that ye may beH1961 cutH3772 off, and that ye may beH1961 a curseH7045 and a reproachH2781 among all the nationsH1471 of the earthH776? 9Have ye forgottenH7911 the wickednessH7451 of your fathersH1, and the wickednessH7451 of the kingsH4428 of JudahH3063, and the wickednessH7451 of their wivesH802, and your own wickednessH7451, and the wickednessH7451 of your wivesH802, which they committed in the landH776 of JudahH3063, and in the streetsH2351 of JerusalemH3389? 10They are not humbled even unto this dayH3117, neither have they fearedH3372, nor walkedH1980 in my lawH8451, nor in my statutesH2708, that I setH5414 before you and before your fathersH1.
11ThereforeH3651 thusH3541 saith Jehovah of hostsH6635, the GodH430 of IsraelH3478: Behold, I will setH7760 my faceH6440 against you for evilH7451, even to cutH3772 off all JudahH3063. 12And I will takeH3947 the remnantH7611 of JudahH3063, that have setH7760 their facesH6440 to goH935 into the landH776 of EgyptH4714 to sojourn there, and they shall all beH1961 consumed; in the landH776 of EgyptH4714 shall they fallH5307; they shall beH1961 consumed by the swordH2719 and by the famineH7458; they shall dieH4191, from the least even unto the greatestH1419, by the swordH2719 and by the famineH7458; and they shall beH1961 an execration, and an astonishment, and a curseH7045, and a reproachH2781. 13For I will punishH6485 them that dwellH3427 in the landH776 of EgyptH4714, as I have punishedH6485 JerusalemH3389, by the swordH2719, by the famineH7458, and by the pestilenceH1698; 14so that none of the remnantH7611 of JudahH3063, that are goneH935 into the landH776 of EgyptH4714 to sojourn there, shall escapeH6412 or beH1961 left, to returnH7725 into the landH776 of JudahH3063, to which they have a desireH5315 to returnH7725 to dwellH3427 there: for none shall returnH7725 save such as shall escapeH6412.
15Then all the menH376 who knewH3045 that their wivesH802 burned incenseH6999 unto otherH312 godsH430, and all the womenH802 that stoodH5975 by, a greatH1419 assemblyH6951, even all the peopleH5971 that dweltH3427 in the landH776 of EgyptH4714, in PathrosH6624, answered JeremiahH3414, sayingH559, 16As for the wordH1697 that thou hast spokenH1696 unto us in the nameH8034 of Jehovah, we will not hearken unto thee. 17But we will certainly perform every wordH1697 that is goneH3318 forthH3318 out of our mouthH6310, to burn incenseH6999 unto the queenH4446 of heavenH8064, and to pourH5258 out drink-offerings unto her, as we have done, we and our fathersH1, our kingsH4428 and our princesH8269, in the citiesH5892 of JudahH3063, and in the streetsH2351 of JerusalemH3389; for then had we plenty of victuals, and were well, and sawH7200 no evilH7451. 18But since we left off burning incenseH6999 to the queenH4446 of heavenH8064, and pouring out drink-offerings unto her, we have wanted all things, and have been consumed by the swordH2719 and by the famineH7458. 19And when we burned incenseH6999 to the queenH4446 of heavenH8064, and poured out drink-offerings unto her, did we makeH6213 her cakes to worship her, and pourH5258 out drink-offerings unto her, without our husbandsH376?
20Then JeremiahH3414 saidH559 unto all the peopleH5971, to the men, and to the womenH802, even to all the peopleH5971 that had given him that answerH6030, sayingH559, 21The incenseH6999 that ye burned in the citiesH5892 of JudahH3063, and in the streetsH2351 of JerusalemH3389, ye and your fathersH1, your kingsH4428 and your princesH8269, and the peopleH5971 of the landH776, did not Jehovah rememberH2142 them, and cameH5927 it not into his mind? 22so that Jehovah could not longer bearH5375, because of the evil of your doings, and because of the abominationsH8441 which ye have committed; therefore is your landH776 becomeH1961 a desolationH8047, and an astonishment, and a curseH7045, without inhabitantH3427, as it is this dayH3117. 23Because ye have burned incenseH6999, and because ye have sinnedH2398 against Jehovah, and have not obeyed the voiceH6963 of Jehovah, nor walkedH1980 in his lawH8451, nor in his statutesH2708, nor in his testimoniesH5715; thereforeH3651 this evilH7451 is happenedH7122 unto you, as it is this dayH3117.
24Moreover JeremiahH3414 saidH559 unto all the peopleH5971, and to all the womenH802, HearH8085 the wordH1697 of Jehovah, all JudahH3063 that are in the landH776 of EgyptH4714: 25ThusH3541 saith Jehovah of hostsH6635, the GodH430 of IsraelH3478, sayingH559, Ye and your wivesH802 have both spokenH1696 with your mouthsH6310, and with your handsH3027 have fulfilled it, sayingH559, We will surely perform our vowsH5088 that we have vowedH5087, to burn incenseH6999 to the queenH4446 of heavenH8064, and to pourH5258 out drink-offerings unto her: establishH6965 then your vowsH5088, and perform your vowsH5088. 26ThereforeH3651 hearH8085 ye the wordH1697 of Jehovah, all JudahH3063 that dwellH3427 in the landH776 of EgyptH4714: Behold, I have swornH7650 by my greatH1419 nameH8034, saith Jehovah, that my nameH8034 shall no more beH1961 namedH8034 in the mouthH6310 of any manH376 of JudahH3063 in all the landH776 of EgyptH4714, sayingH559, As the Lord Jehovah liveth. 27Behold, I watchH8245 over them for evilH7451, and not for goodH2896; and all the menH376 of JudahH3063 that are in the landH776 of EgyptH4714 shall be consumed by the swordH2719 and by the famineH7458, until there be an endH3615 of them. 28And they that escapeH6412 the swordH2719 shall returnH7725 out of the landH776 of EgyptH4714 into the landH776 of JudahH3063, few in numberH4557; and all the remnantH7611 of JudahH3063, that are goneH935 into the landH776 of EgyptH4714 to sojourn there, shall knowH3045 whose wordH1697 shall standH6965, mine, or theirs. 29And this shall be the signH226 unto you, saith Jehovah, that I will punishH6485 you in this placeH4725, that ye may knowH3045 that my wordsH1697 shall surely standH6965 against you for evilH7451: 30ThusH3541 saith Jehovah, Behold, I will giveH5414 Pharaoh Hophra kingH4428 of EgyptH4714 into the handH3027 of his enemiesH341, and into the handH3027 of them that seekH1245 his lifeH5315; as I gaveH5414 ZedekiahH6667 kingH4428 of JudahH3063 into the handH3027 of Nebuchadrezzar kingH4428 of BabylonH894, who was his enemyH341, and soughtH1245 his lifeH5315.
