Jeremiah 17

1The sinH2403 of JudahH3063 is writtenH3789 with a pen of ironH1270, andwith the point of a diamond: it is graven upon the tabletH3871 of their heartH3820, and upon the hornsH7161 of your altarsH4196; 2whilst their children rememberH2142 their altarsH4196 and their Asherim by the green treesH6086 upon the highH1364 hillsH1389. 3O my mountain in the fieldH7704, I will giveH5414 thy substance and all thy treasuresH214 for a spoilH957, and thy highH1116 placesH1116, because of sinH2403, throughout all thy bordersH1366. 4And thou, even of thyself, shalt discontinue from thy heritage that I gaveH5414 thee; and I will cause thee to serveH5647 thine enemiesH341 in the landH776 which thou knowest not: for ye have kindled a fireH784 in mine angerH639 which shall burnH3344 for everH5769.

5ThusH3541 saith Jehovah: CursedH779 is the manH120 that trusteth in manH120, and maketh fleshH1320 his armH2220, and whose heartH3820 departeth from Jehovah. 6For he shall beH1961 like the heath in the desertH6160, and shall not seeH7200 when goodH2896 cometh, but shall inhabitH3427 the parched places in the wildernessH4057, a salt landH776 and not inhabitedH3427. 7BlessedH1288 is the manH1397 that trusteth in Jehovah, and whose trustH982 Jehovah is. 8For he shall beH1961 as a treeH6086 plantedH8362 by the watersH4325, that spreadeth out its rootsH8328 by the river, and shall not fearH3372 when heatH2527 cometh, but its leafH5929 shall beH1961 green; and shall not beH1961 careful in the yearH8141 of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruitH6529.

9The heartH3820 is deceitful above all things, and it is exceedingly corrupt: who can knowH3045 it? 10I, Jehovah, searchH2713 the mind, I try the heartH3820, even to giveH5414 every manH376 according to his waysH1870, according to the fruitH6529 of his doings. 11As the partridgeH7124 that sitteth on eggs which she hath not laid, so is he that getteth richesH6239, and not by rightH4941; in the midst of his daysH3117 they shall leaveH5800 him, and at his endH319 he shall beH1961 a foolH5036.

12A glorious throneH3678, seton highH4791 from the beginning, is the placeH4725 of our sanctuaryH4720. 13O Jehovah, the hope of IsraelH3478, all that forsakeH5800 thee shall be putH954 to shameH954. They that depart from me shall be writtenH3789 in the earthH776, because they have forsaken Jehovah, the fountainH4726 of living watersH4325. 14HealH7495 me, O Jehovah, and I shall be healedH7495; saveH3467 me, and I shall be savedH3467: for thou art my praiseH8416. 15Behold, they sayH559 unto me, WhereH346 is the wordH1697 of Jehovah? let it comeH935 now. 16As for me, I have not hastened from being a shepherdH7462 after thee; neither have I desiredH183 the woeful dayH3117; thou knowest: that which came out of my lipsH8193 wasH1961 before thy faceH6440. 17BeH1961 not a terrorH4288 unto me: thou art my refugeH4268 in the dayH3117 of evilH7451. 18Let them be putH954 to shameH954 that persecute me, but let not me be putH954 to shameH954; let them be dismayedH2865, but let not me be dismayedH2865; bringH935 upon them the dayH3117 of evilH7451, and destroy them with doubleH4932 destruction.

19ThusH3541 saidH559 Jehovah unto me: GoH1980, and standH5975 in the gateH8179 of the children of the peopleH5971, whereby the kingsH4428 of JudahH3063 comeH935 in, and by which they goH1980 out, and in all the gatesH8179 of JerusalemH3389; 20and sayH559 unto them, HearH8085 ye the wordH1697 of Jehovah, ye kingsH4428 of JudahH3063, and all JudahH3063, and all the inhabitantsH3427 of JerusalemH3389, that enter in by these gatesH8179: 21ThusH3541 saith Jehovah, TakeH5375 heedH8104 to yourselves, and bearH5375 no burdenH4853 on the sabbathH7676 dayH3117, nor bringH935 it in by the gatesH8179 of JerusalemH3389; 22neither carry forthH3318 a burdenH4853 out of your housesH1004 on the sabbathH7676 dayH3117, neither do ye any workH4399: but hallow ye the sabbathH7676 dayH3117, as I commandedH6680 your fathersH1. 23But they hearkened not, neither inclinedH5186 their earH241, but madeH7185 their neckH6203 stiff, that they might not hearH8085, and might not receiveH3947 instruction.

24And it shall comeH935 to pass, if ye diligently hearken unto me, saith Jehovah, to bringH935 in no burdenH4853 through the gatesH8179 of this cityH5892 on the sabbathH7676 dayH3117, but to hallow the sabbathH7676 dayH3117, to do no workH4399 therein; 25then shall there enter in by the gatesH8179 of this cityH5892 kingsH4428 and princesH8269 sittingH3427 upon the throneH3678 of DavidH1732, ridingH7392 in chariotsH7393 and on horsesH5483, they, and their princesH8269, the menH376 of JudahH3063, and the inhabitantsH3427 of JerusalemH3389; and this cityH5892 shall remainH3427 for everH5769. 26And they shall comeH935 from the citiesH5892 of JudahH3063, and from the places roundH5439 about JerusalemH3389, and from the landH776 of BenjaminH1144, and from the lowland, and from the hill-country, and from the SouthH5045, bringingH935 burnt-offerings, and sacrificesH2077, and meal-offerings, and frankincenseH3828, and bringingH935 sacrificesH2077 of thanksgivingH8426, unto the houseH1004 of Jehovah. 27But if ye will not hearken unto me to hallow the sabbathH7676 dayH3117, and not to bearH5375 a burdenH4853 and enter in at the gatesH8179 of JerusalemH3389 on the sabbathH7676 dayH3117; then will I kindleH3341 a fireH784 in the gatesH8179 thereof, and it shall devourH398 the palaces of JerusalemH3389, and it shall not be quenchedH3518.
