Jeremiah 12

1RighteousH6662 art thou, O Jehovah, when I contendH7378 with thee; yet would I reason the cause with thee: wherefore doth the wayH1870 of the wickedH7563 prosper? wherefore are all they at easeH7951 that dealH898 very treacherouslyH898? 2Thou hast plantedH5193 them, yea, they have taken rootH8327; they grow, yea, they bring forth fruitH6529: thou art near in their mouthH6310, and farH7350 from their heart. 3But thou, O Jehovah, knowest me; thou seest me, and triest my heartH3820 toward thee: pullH5423 them out like sheepH6629 for the slaughterH2028, and prepare them for the dayH3117 of slaughterH2028. 4How long shall the landH776 mournH56, and the herbs of the whole country witherH3001? for the wickednessH7451 of them that dwellH3427 therein, the beasts are consumed, and the birdsH5775; because they saidH559, He shall not seeH7200 our latterH319 endH319.

5If thou hast runH7323 with the footmen, and they have weariedH3811 thee, then howH349 canst thou contend with horsesH5483? and though in a landH776 of peaceH7965 thou art secureH982, yet howH349 wilt thou do in the prideH1347 of the JordanH3383? 6For even thy brethren, and the houseH1004 of thy fatherH1, even they have dealtH898 treacherouslyH898 with thee; even they have cried aloud after thee: believeH539 them not, though they speakH1696 fair words unto thee.

7I have forsaken my houseH1004, I have cast off my heritage; I have givenH5414 the dearly beloved of my soulH5315 into the handH3709 of her enemiesH341. 8My heritage is becomeH1961 unto me as a lionH738 in the forestH3293: she hath uttered her voiceH6963 against me; thereforeH3651 I have hatedH8130 her. 9Is my heritage unto me as a speckled birdH5861 of preyH5861? are the birdsH5861 of preyH5861 against her roundH5439 about? go ye, assemble all the beasts of the fieldH7704, bringH857 them to devour. 10ManyH7227 shepherdsH7462 have destroyedH7843 my vineyardH3754, they have troddenH947 my portionH2513 under foot, they have madeH5414 my pleasant portionH2513 a desolate wildernessH4057. 11They have madeH7760 it a desolationH8077; it mourneth unto me, being desolateH8074; the whole landH776 is madeH7760 desolateH8074, because no manH376 layeth it to heartH3820. 12DestroyersH7703 are comeH935 upon all the bareH8205 heightsH8205 in the wildernessH4057; for the swordH2719 of Jehovah devoureth from the one endH7097 of the landH776 even to the other endH7097 of the landH776: no fleshH1320 hath peaceH7965. 13They have sownH2232 wheatH2406, and have reaped thornsH6975; they have putH954 themselves to pain, and profitH3276 nothing: and ye shall be ashamedH954 of your fruits, because of the fierce angerH639 of Jehovah.

14ThusH3541 saith Jehovah against all mine evilH7451 neighborsH7934, that touchH5060 the inheritanceH5159 which I have caused my peopleH5971 IsraelH3478 to inheritH5157: Behold, I will pluckH5428 them up from off their landH127, and will pluckH5428 up the houseH1004 of JudahH3063 from among them. 15And it shall come to pass, after that I have pluckedH5428 them up, I will returnH7725 and have compassionH7355 on them; and I will bringH7725 them again, every manH376 to his heritage, and every manH376 to his landH776. 16And it shall come to pass, if they will diligently learnH3925 the waysH1870 of my peopleH5971, to swearH7650 by my nameH8034, As Jehovah liveth; even as they taughtH3925 my peopleH5971 to swearH7650 by BaalH1168; then shall they beH1961 builtH1129 up in the midstH8432 of my peopleH5971. 17But if they will not hearH8085, then will I pluckH5428 up that nationH1471, plucking up and destroyingH6 it, saith Jehovah.
