Jeremiah 6
1Flee for safety, ye children of BenjaminH1144, out of the midstH7130 of JerusalemH3389, and blowH8628 the trumpetH7782 in TekoaH8620, and raise up a signal on Beth-haccherem; for evilH7451 looketh forth from the northH6828, and a greatH1419 destructionH7667. 2The comely and delicate one, the daughterH1323 of ZionH6726, will I cut off. 3ShepherdsH7462 with their flocksH5739 shall comeH935 unto her; they shall pitchH8628 their tentsH168 against her roundH5439 about; they shall feedH7462 every oneH376 in his place. 4Prepare ye warH4421 against her; ariseH6965, and let us goH5927 up at noonH6672. WoeH188 unto us! for the dayH3117 declineth, for the shadows of the eveningH6153 are stretchedH5186 out. 5AriseH6965, and let us goH5927 up by nightH3915, and let us destroyH7843 her palaces. 6For thusH3541 hath Jehovah of hostsH6635 saidH559, Hew ye downH3772 trees, and cast up a mound against JerusalemH3389: this is the cityH5892 to be visitedH6485; she is wholly oppressionH6233 in the midstH7130 of her. 7As a well casteth forth its watersH4325, so she casteth forth her wickednessH7451: violenceH2555 and destructionH7701 is heardH8085 in her; before me continuallyH8548 is sicknessH2483 and woundsH4347. 8Be thou instructedH3256, O JerusalemH3389, lestH6435 my soulH5315 be alienated from thee; lestH6435 I makeH7760 thee a desolationH8077, a landH776 not inhabitedH3427.
9ThusH3541 saith Jehovah of hostsH6635, They shall thoroughly glean the remnantH7611 of IsraelH3478 as a vineH1612: turnH7725 again thy handH3027 as a grape-gatherer into the baskets. 10To whom shall I speakH1696 and testify, that they may hearH8085? behold, their earH241 is uncircumcisedH6189, and they cannot hearken: behold, the wordH1697 of Jehovah is becomeH1961 unto them a reproachH2781; they have no delightH2654 in it. 11Therefore I am fullH4392 of the wrathH2534 of Jehovah; I am wearyH3811 with holdingH3557 in: pourH8210 it out upon the childrenH5768 in the streetH2351, and upon the assembly of youngH970 menH376 togetherH3162; for even the husbandH376 with the wifeH802 shall be takenH3920, the aged with him that is fullH4392 of daysH3117. 12And their housesH1004 shall be turnedH5437 unto othersH312, their fieldsH7704 and their wivesH802 togetherH3162; for I will stretchH5186 out my handH3027 upon the inhabitantsH3427 of the landH776, saith Jehovah. 13For from the least of them even unto the greatestH1419 of them every one is given to covetousness; and from the prophetH5030 even unto the priestH3548 every one dealeth falsely. 14They have healedH7495 also the hurt of my peopleH5971 slightly, sayingH559, PeaceH7965, peaceH7965; when there is no peaceH7965. 15Were they ashamedH954 when they had committed abominationH8441? nay, they were not at all ashamedH954, neither could they blush: thereforeH3651 they shall fallH5307 among them that fallH5307; at the timeH6256 that I visitH6485 them they shall be castH5307 downH5307, saith Jehovah.
16ThusH3541 saith Jehovah, StandH5975 ye in the waysH1870 and seeH7200, and askH7592 for the old pathsH5410, whereH335 is the goodH2896 wayH1870; and walk therein, and ye shall findH4672 rest for your soulsH5315: but they saidH559, We will not walk therein. 17And I setH6965 watchmenH6822 over you, sayingH559, Hearken to the soundH6963 of the trumpetH7782; but they saidH559, We will not hearken. 18ThereforeH3651 hearH8085, ye nationsH1471, and knowH3045, O congregationH5712, what is among them. 19HearH8085, O earthH776: behold, I will bringH935 evilH7451 upon this peopleH5971, even the fruitH6529 of their thoughtsH4284, because they have not hearkened unto my wordsH1697; and as for my lawH8451, they have rejectedH3988 it. 20To what purpose cometh there to me frankincenseH3828 from ShebaH7614, and the sweet caneH7070 from a far country? your burnt-offerings are not acceptable, nor your sacrificesH2077 pleasingH6149 unto me. 21ThereforeH3651 thusH3541 saith Jehovah, Behold, I will lay stumbling-blocks before this peopleH5971; and the fathersH1 and the sonsH1121 togetherH3162 shall stumbleH3782 against them; the neighborH7453 and his friendH7453 shall perishH6.
22ThusH3541 saith Jehovah, Behold, a peopleH5971 cometh from the northH6828 country; and a greatH1419 nationH1471 shall be stirredH5782 up from the uttermost partsH3411 of the earthH776. 23They lay holdH2388 on bowH7198 and spear; they are cruelH394, and have no mercyH7355; their voiceH6963 roareth like the seaH3220, and they rideH7392 upon horsesH5483, every oneH376 set in array, as a manH376 to the battleH4421, against thee, O daughterH1323 of ZionH6726. 24We have heardH8085 the reportH8089 thereof; our handsH3027 wax feeble: anguishH2427 hath takenH2388 holdH2388 of us, and pangs as of a woman in travail. 25GoH3318 not forthH3318 into the fieldH7704, nor walk by the wayH1870; for the swordH2719 of the enemyH341, and terrorH4032, are on every side. 26O daughterH1323 of my peopleH5971, girdH2296 thee with sackclothH8242, and wallow thyself in ashesH665: makeH6213 thee mourningH60, as for an onlyH3173 sonH3173, most bitter lamentation; for the destroyerH7703 shall suddenlyH6597 comeH935 upon us.
27I have madeH5414 thee a trier and a fortressH4013 among my peopleH5971; that thou mayest knowH3045 and try their wayH1870. 28They are all grievous revolters, goingH1980 about with slanders; they are brass and ironH1270: they all of them deal corruptlyH7843. 29The bellows blow fiercely; the leadH5777 is consumed of the fire: in vain do they go on refiningH6884; for the wickedH7451 are not plucked awayH5423. 30Refuse silverH3701 shall men callH7121 them, because Jehovah hath rejectedH3988 them.
