Mark 2:19-28

19And JesusἸησοῦς·IēsousG2424saidG3004to them,“Whileἐν ᾧen hōG1722 G3739the groomνυμφίοςnumphiosG3566is with them,the attendantsυἱοὶhuioiG5207of the groomνυμφῶνοςnumphōnosG3567cannotμὴ δύνανταιmē dunantaiG1410 G3361fastνηστεύειν;nēsteueinG3522,can they? As longὅσον χρόνονhoson chrononG3745 G5550as they haveἔχουσινechousinG2192the groomνυμφίονnumphionG3566with them, they cannotοὐ δύνανταιou dunantaiG1410 G3756fastνηστεύειν.nēsteueinG3522.

20But thedaysἡμέραιhēmeraiG2250will comeἐλεύσονταιeleusontaiG2064whenὅτανhotanG3752the groomνυμφίος,numphiosG3566is takenG522awayἀπαρθῇaparthēaG522from them, and thenτότεtoteG5119they will fastνηστεύσουσινnēsteusousinG3522,on that dayἡμέρᾳ.¶hēmeraG2250.

21“NoG3762oneοὐδεὶςoudeisG3762sewsἐπιράπτειepirapteiG1976a patchἐπίβλημαepiblēmaG1915of unshrunkἀγνάφουagnaphouG46clothῥάκουςrhakousG4470on an oldπαλαιόν·palaionG3820garmentἱμάτιονhimationG2440;otherwiseG1490,the patchπλήρωμαplērōmaG4138pullsG142awayαἴρειaireiG142from it, the newκαινὸνkainonG2537from the oldπαλαιοῦ,palaiouG3820,and a worseχεῖρονcheironG5501tearσχίσμαschismaG4978resultsγίνεται.¶ginetaiG1096.

22And noG3762oneοὐδεὶςoudeisG3762putsβάλλειballeiG906newνέονneonG3501wineοἶνονoinonG3631into oldπαλαιούς·palaiousG3820wineskinsἀσκοὺςaskousG779;otherwiseG1490the wineοἶνοςoinosG3631will burstῥήξειrhēxeiG4486the skinsἀσκούς,askousG779,and the wineοἶνοςoinosG3631is lostἀπόλλυταιapollutaiG622and the skinsἀσκοίaskoiG779as well; but one putsnewνέονneonG3501wineοἶνονoinonG3631into freshκαινούςkainousG2537wineskinsἀσκοὺςaskousG779.”

23And it happenedἐγένετοegenetoG1096that He was passingπαραπορεύεσθαιparaporeuesthaiG3899throughδιὰdiaG1223the grainfieldsσπορίμων,sporimōnG4702on the SabbathσάββασινsabbasinG4521,and His disciplesμαθηταὶmathētaiG3101beganἤρξαντοērxantoG757to makeποιεῖνpoieinG4160their wayὁδὸνhodonG3598along whilepickingτίλλοντεςtillontesG5089the headsστάχυας.stachuasG4719of grain.

24The PhariseesΦαρισαῖοιPharisaioiG5330were sayingἔλεγονelegonG3004to Him, “LookἴδεideG2396,whyτίtiG5101are they doingποιοῦσινpoiousinG4160whatὃhoG3739is not lawfulἔξεστιν;¶exestinG1832on the SabbathσάββασινsabbasinG4521?”

25And He saidλέγειlegeiG3004to them,“Have you neverοὐδέποτεoudepoteG3763readἀνέγνωτεanegnōteG314whatτίtiG5101DavidG1160didἐποίησενepoiēsenG4160whenὅτεhoteG3753he was in needχρείανchreianG5532and he and his companionsοἱ μετ᾽hoi met᾽G3588 G3326became hungryἐπείνασενepeinasenG3983;

26howπῶςpōsG4459he enteredεἰσῆλθενeisēlthenG1525the houseοἶκονoikonG3624of GodθεοῦtheouG2316in thetimeἐπὶepiG1909ofAbiatharἈβιαθὰρAbiatharG8thehighἀρχιερέωςarchiereōsG749priestG749,and ateG2068theconsecratedπροθέσεωςprotheseōsG4286breadἄρτουςartousG740,whichοὓςhousG3739is not lawfulἔξεστινexestinG1832for anyoneto eatG2068exceptG1508the priestsἱερεῖς,hi'ereisG2409,and he alsoG2532gaveἔδωκενedōkenG1325it to thoseG3588who were with him?”

27Jesus saidἔλεγενelegenG3004to them, “The SabbathσάββατονsabbatonG4521was madeἐγένετο,egenetoG1096for manἄνθρωπονanthrōponG444, andnot manἄνθρωποςanthrōposG444for the Sabbathσάββατον.sabbatonG4521.

28SoὥστεhōsteG5620the SonυἱὸςhuiosG5207of ManἀνθρώπουanthrōpouG444is LordκύριόςkuriosG2962,evenκαὶkaiG2532of the Sabbathσαββάτου.¶sabbatouG4521.”
