25SoοὖνounG3767someτινεςtinesG5100of the peopleG2415ofG2415JerusalemἹεροσολυμιτῶν·Hi'erosolumitōnG2415were sayingἔλεγονelegonG3004, “Is thisG3778ManG3778not the one whomὃνhonG3739they are seekingζητοῦσινzētousinG2212to killἀποκτεῖναι;apokteinaiG615?

26And yetlookἴδεideG2396,He is speakingλαλεῖ,laleiG2980publiclyπαρρησίᾳparrēsiaG3954,and they are sayingλέγουσιν.legousinG3004nothingοὐδὲνoudenG3762to Him.The rulersἄρχοντεςarchontesG758do not reallyἀληθῶςalēthōsG230knowἔγνωσανegnōsanG1097that thisοὗτόςhoutosG3778is theChristχριστός;christosG5547, do they?

27HoweverἀλλὰallaG235,we knowG3609whereπόθενpothenG4159thisG3778ManτοῦτονtoutonG3778is from; but whenὅτανhotanG3752the ChristχριστὸςchristosG5547comesἔρχηται,erchētaiG2064,noG3762oneοὐδεὶςoudeisG3762knowsγινώσκειginōskeiG1097whereπόθενpothenG4159He is from.”

28ThenοὖνounG3767JesusἸησοῦςIēsousG2424criedG2896outG2896in the templeG2413,teachingδιδάσκωνdidaskōnG1321and sayingλέγων·legōnG3004, “You bothG2532knowG3609Me and you knowG3609whereπόθενpothenG4159I amG1510from; andI have not comeἐλήλυθα,elēluthaG2064of MyselfG1683,but He who sentπέμψαςpempsasG3992Me is trueἀληθινὸςalēthinosG228,whomὃνhonG3739you do not knowG3609.

29I do knowG3609Him, becauseὅτιhotiG3754I amεἰμι,eimiG1510from Him, andHe sentἀπέστειλεν.apesteilenG649Me.”

30SoοὖνounG3767theywere seekingἐζήτουνezētounG2212to arrestπιάσαι,piasaiG4084Him; and yetnoG3762oneοὐδεὶςoudeisG3762laidἐπέβαλενepebalenG1911a handχεῖρα,cheiraG5495on Him, becauseὅτιhotiG3754HishourὥραhōraG5610had not yetοὔπωoupōG3768comeἐληλύθειelēlutheiG2064.

31ButmanyπολλοὶpolloiG4183of the crowdὄχλουochlouG3793believedἐπίστευσανepisteusanG4100in Him; and they were sayingἔλεγονelegonG3004, “WhenὅτανhotanG3752theChristχριστὸςchristosG5547comesἔλθῃ,elthēG2064,He will not performG2038moreG4183signsσημεῖαsēmeiaG4592than those whichὧνhōnG3739thisG3778manοὗτοςhoutosG3778has doneG2038, will He?”

32The PhariseesΦαρισαῖοιPharisaioiG5330heardἤκουσανēkousanG191the crowdὄχλουochlouG3793whisperingγογγύζοντοςgonguzontosG1111theseG3778thingsταῦτα,tautaG3778aboutπερὶperiG4012Him, and the chiefἀρχιερεῖςarchiereisG749priestsG749and the PhariseesΦαρισαῖοιPharisaioiG5330sentἀπέστειλανapesteilanG649officersὑπηρέταςhupēretasG5257toarrestπιάσωσινpiasōsinG4084Him.

33ThereforeοὖνounG3767JesusἸησοῦς·IēsousG2424saidG3004, “For a littleμικρὸνmikronG3398whileχρόνονchrononG5550longerἔτιetiG2089I amεἰμιeimiG1510going to be with you, and thenI am goingὑπάγωhupagōG5217to Him who sentπέμψαντάpempsantaG3992Me.

34You will seekζητήσετέzētēseteG2212Me, and will not findεὑρήσετέheurēseteG2147Me; and whereὅπουhopouG3699I amεἰμὶeimiG1510,you cannotδύνασθεdunastheG1410 G3756comeἐλθεῖν.¶eltheinG2064.”

35The JewsἸουδαῖοιIoudaioiG2453thenοὖνounG3767saidG3004to oneG1438anotherG1438, “WhereποῦpouG4226does thisG3778ManG3778intendμέλλειmelleiG3195to goπορεύεσθαιporeuesthaiG4198that we will not findεὑρήσομενheurēsomenG2147Him? 38The one who believesπιστεύωνpisteuōnG4100in Me,as the Scriptureγραφή,graphēG1124saidG3004, ‘From his innermostG2836beingG2836will flowῥεύσουσινrheusousinG4482riversποταμοὶpotamoiG4215oflivingζῶντος.zōntosG2198waterὕδατοςhudatosG5204.’”

39But thisτοῦτοtoutoG3778He saidG3004inG4012referenceG4012toG4012the SpiritπνεύματοςpneumatosG4151,whomὃhoG3739thoseG3588who believedπιστεύσαντεςpisteusantesG4100in Him were to receiveλαμβάνεινlambaneinG2983; forthe SpiritπνεῦμαpneumaG4151was not yetοὔπωoupōG3768given,becauseὅτιhotiG3754JesusἸησοῦςIēsousG2424was not yetοὐδέπωoudepōG3764glorifiedἐδοξάσθη.¶edoxasthēG1392.

40Someof the peopleὄχλουochlouG3793thereforeοὖνounG3767,after they heardἀκούσαντεςakousantesG191theseτούτωνtoutōnG3778wordsλόγωνlogōnG3056,were sayingἔλεγονelegonG3004, “ThisοὗτόςhoutosG3778trulyἀληθῶςalēthōsG230isthe Prophetπροφήτης.prophētēsG4396.”
