2that I have greatμεγάληmegalēG3173sorrowλύπηlupēG3077and unceasingἀδιάλειπτοςadialeiptosG88griefὀδύνηodunēG3601in my heartκαρδίᾳkardiaG2588.

3For I couldwishηὐχόμηνēuchomēnG2172that I myselfαὐτὸςautosG846wereaccursedἀνάθεμαanathemaG331, separatedfrom ChristΧριστοῦChristouG5547for the sakeὑπὲρhuperG5228of my brethrenἀδελφῶνadelphōnG80,my kinsmenσυγγενῶνsungenōnG4773accordingκατὰkataG2596to the fleshσάρκα·sarkaG4561,

4whoοἵτινέςoitinesG3748areIsraelitesἸσραηλῖται,IsraēlitaiG2475,to whomὧνhōnG3739belongsthe adoptionυἱοθεσίαhuiothesiaG5206as sonsG5206, andthe gloryδόξαdoxaG1391andthe covenantsδιαθῆκαιdiathēkaiG1242andthe givingG3548of the LawG3548and the templeserviceλατρείαlatreiaG2999andthe promisesἐπαγγελίαι,epangeliaiG1860,

5whoseὧνhōnG3739arethe fathersπατέρεςpateresG3962, andfrom whomὧνhōnG3739isthe ChristΧριστὸςChristosG5547accordingκατὰkataG2596to the fleshσάρκα,sarkaG4561,who is overἐπὶepiG1909allπάντωνpantōnG3956,GodθεὸςtheosG2316blessedεὐλογητὸςeulogētosG2128foreverαἰῶνας,aiōnasG165.Amenἀμήν.¶amēnG281.

6But it isnot as thoughὅτιhotiG3754the wordλόγοςlogosG3056of Godθεοῦ.theouG2316has failedἐκπέπτωκενekpeptōkenG1601.For they are not allπάντεςpantesG3956IsraelG2274whoG3588are descendedfrom IsraelG2274;

7norοὐδ᾽oud᾽G3761are they allπάντεςpantesG3956childrenτέκνα,teknaG5043becauseὅτιhotiG3754they are Abraham’sἈβραὰμAbraamG11descendantsσπέρμαspermaG4690, but: “throughἐνenG1722IsaacἸσαὰκIsaakG2464yourdescendantsσπέρμα.spermaG4690will be namedκληθήσεταίklēthēsetaiG2564.”

8That is, it is not the childrenτέκναteknaG5043of the fleshσαρκὸςsarkosG4561whoG3778arechildrenτέκναteknaG5043of Godθεοῦ,theouG2316, but thechildrenτέκναteknaG5043of the promiseἐπαγγελίαςepangeliasG1860are regardedλογίζεταιlogizetaiG3049asdescendantsσπέρμα.spermaG4690.

9For thisοὗτος·houtosG3778is the wordλόγοςlogosG3056of promiseἐπαγγελίαςepangeliasG1860: “At thisτοῦτονtoutonG3778timeκαιρὸνkaironG2540I will comeἐλεύσομαιeleusomaiG2064,and SarahΣάρρᾳSarraG4564shall haveἔσταιestaiG1510a sonυἱός.¶huiosG5207.”

10And not onlyG3440this, but there wasRebekahῬεβέκκαRhebekkaG4479alsoκαὶkaiG2532,when she had conceivedκοίτην ἔχουσαkoitēn echousaG2845 G2192twinsby oneἑνὸςhenosG1520manG1520,our fatherπατρὸςpatrosG3962IsaacἸσαὰκIsaakG2464;

28for the LordκύριοςkuriosG2962will executeποιήσειpoiēseiG4160His wordλόγονlogonG3056on the earthγῆς.gēsG1093,thoroughlyσυντελῶνsuntelōnG4931andquicklyσυντέμνωνsuntemnōnG4932.”

31but IsraelἸσραὴλIsraēlG2474,pursuingδιώκωνdiōkōnG1377a lawνόμονnomonG3551of righteousnessδικαιοσύνηςdikaiosunēsG1343, did notarriveἔφθασεν.ephthasenG5348at thatlawνόμονnomonG3551.

32Whyδιὰ τί;dia tiG1223 G5101?BecauseὅτιhotiG3754they did not pursue itby faithπίστεωςpisteōsG4102,but as thoughὡςhōsG5613it wereby worksἔργωνergōnG2041.They stumbledG4350overG4350the stumblingπροσκόμματοςproskommatosG4348stoneλίθῳlithōG3037,

33justκαθὼςkathōsG2531as it is writtenγέγραπται·gegraptaiG1125, “BeholdἰδοὺidouG2400,I layτίθημιtithēmiG5087in ZionΣιὼνSiōnG4622a stoneλίθονlithonG3037of stumblingπροσκόμματοςproskommatosG4348and a rockπέτρανpetranG4073of offenseσκανδάλου,skandalouG4625,And he who believesπιστεύωνpisteuōnG4100in Him will not bedisappointedκαταισχυνθήσεται.¶kataischunthēsetaiG2617.”
