2For I testifyμαρτυρῶmarturōG3140about them that they haveἔχουσινechousinG2192a zealζῆλονzēlonG2205for GodθεοῦtheouG2316,but not in accordanceκατ᾽kat᾽G2596with knowledgeἐπίγνωσιν.epignōsinG1922.

3For not knowingἀγνοοῦντεςagnoountesG50aboutGod’sθεοῦtheouG2316righteousnessG1343andseekingζητοῦντεςzētountesG2212to establishστῆσαιstēsaiG2476their ownἰδίανidianG2398,they did not subjectὑπετάγησαν.¶hupetagēsanG5293themselves to the righteousnessG1343of GodθεοῦtheouG2316.

4ForChristΧριστὸςChristosG5547is theendΤέλοςTelosG5056of the lawνόμουnomouG3551for righteousnessδικαιοσύνηνdikaiosunēnG1343toeveryoneπαντὶpantiG3956who believesπιστεύοντι.pisteuontiG4100.

5For MosesΜωϋσῆςMōusēsG3475writesγράφειgrapheiG1125that the manἄνθρωποςanthrōposG444who practicesποιήσαςpoiēsasG4160the righteousnessδικαιοσύνηνdikaiosunēnG1343which isbasedἐκekG1537on lawνόμουnomouG3551shall liveζήσεταιzēsetaiG2198by that righteousnessG846.

6Butthe righteousnessδικαιοσύνηdikaiosunēG1343basedἐκekG1537on faithπίστεωςpisteōsG4102speaksG3004as followsοὕτωςhoutōsG3779: “Do not sayG3004in your heartκαρδίᾳkardiaG2588, ‘WhoτίςtisG5101will ascendἀναβήσεταιanabēsetaiG305into heavenοὐρανόν;ouranonG3772?’ (that is, to bringκαταγαγεῖν·katagageinG2609ChristΧριστὸνChristonG5547downG2609),

7orἢēG2228‘WhoτίςtisG5101will descendκαταβήσεταιkatabēsetaiG2597into theabyssἄβυσσον;abussonG12?’ (that is, tobringἀναγαγεῖν.anagageinG321ChristΧριστὸνChristonG5547up from the deadνεκρῶνnekrōnG3498).”

8But whatτίtiG5101does it sayλέγει;legeiG3004? “The wordῥῆμάrhēmaG4487is nearἐγγύςengusG1451you, in your mouthστόματίstomatiG4750and in your heartκαρδίᾳkardiaG2588”--that is, the wordῥῆμαrhēmaG4487of faithπίστεωςpisteōsG4102whichὃhoG3739we are preachingκηρύσσομεν·kērussomenG2784,

9thatifἐὰνeanG1437you confessὁμολογήσῃςhomologēsēsG3670with your mouthστόματίstomatiG4750JesusἸησοῦνIēsounG2424asLordκύριονkurionG2962, andbelieveπιστεύσῃςpisteusēsG4100in your heartκαρδίᾳkardiaG2588thatGodθεὸςtheosG2316raisedἤγειρενēgeirenG1453Him from the deadνεκρῶν,nekrōnG3498,you will be savedσωθήσῃ·sōthēsēG4982;

10for with the heartκαρδίᾳkardiaG2588a person believesπιστεύεταιpisteuetaiG4100,resultingεἰςeisG1519in righteousnessδικαιοσύνην,dikaiosunēnG1343,and with the mouthστόματιstomatiG4750he confessesὁμολογεῖταιhomologeitaiG3670,resultingεἰςeisG1519in salvationσωτηρίαν.¶sōtērianG4991.

11For the Scriptureγραφή·graphēG1124saysΛέγειLegeiG3004, “WhoeverπᾶςpasG3956believesπιστεύωνpisteuōnG4100in Him will not bedisappointedκαταισχυνθήσεται.kataischunthēsetaiG2617.”

12Forthere is noοὐouG3756distinctionδιαστολὴdiastolēG1293between JewἸουδαίουIoudaiouG2453and GreekἝλληνος·HellēnosG1672;for the sameG846Lord isLordκύριοςkuriosG2962ofallπάντωνpantōnG3956,aboundingG4147in richesπλουτῶνploutōnG4147for allπάνταςpantasG3956who callἐπικαλουμένουςepikaloumenousG1941on Him;

13for “WhoeverπᾶςpasG3956will callἐπικαλέσηταιepikalesētaiG1941on the nameὄνομαonomaG3686of the LordκυρίουkuriouG2962will be savedσωθήσεται.¶sōthēsetaiG4982.”

14HowΠῶςPōsG4459thenοὖνounG3767will they callἐπικαλέσωνταιepikalesōntaiG1941on Him in whomὃνhonG3739they have not believedἐπίστευσαν;episteusanG4100?HowπῶςpōsG4459will they believeπιστεύσωσινpisteusōsinG4100in HimwhomοὗhouG3739they have not heardἤκουσαν;ēkousanG191?And howπῶςpōsG4459will they hearἀκούσωσινakousōsinG191withoutχωρὶςchōrisG5565a preacherκηρύσσοντος;kērussontosG2784?

16Howeverἀλλ᾽all᾽G235, theydid not allπάντεςpantesG3956heedὑπήκουσανhupēkousanG5219thegoodG2098newsG2098;for IsaiahἨσαΐαςĒsaiasG2268saysλέγει·legeiG3004, “Lordκύριε,kurieG2962,whoτίςtisG5101has believedἐπίστευσενepisteusenG4100our reportἀκοῇakoēaG189?”

17SoἄραaraG686faithπίστιςpistisG4102comes fromhearingἀκοῆςakoēsG189,and hearingἀκοὴakoēG189bythe wordῥήματοςrhēmatosG4487of ChristΧριστοῦ.ChristouG5547.

18But I sayλέγω·legōG3004,surelyG3361they have neverοὐκoukG3361 G3756heardἤκουσαν;ēkousanG191,have they? IndeedμενοῦνγεmenoungeG3304they have; “Their voiceφθόγγοςphthongosG5353has goneἐξῆλθενexēlthenG1831out into allπᾶσανpasanG3956the earthγῆνgēnG1093,And their wordsῥήματαrhēmataG4487to the endsπέραταperataG4009of theworldοἰκουμένηςoikoumenēsG3625.”

19But I sayλέγω·legōG3004,surelyμὴmēG3361IsraelἸσραὴλIsraēlG2474did not knowἔγνω;egnōG1097,did they? FirstπρῶτοςprōtosG4413MosesΜωϋσῆςMōusēsG3475saysλέγει·legeiG3004, “I willmakeG3863you jealousG3863by that which is not a nationἔθνειethneiG1484,By a nationἔθνειethneiG1484withoutG801understandingἀσυνέτῳasunetōG801will I angerπαροργιῶparorgiōG3949you.”

20And IsaiahἨσαΐαςĒsaiasG2268is veryG662boldG662and saysλέγει·legeiG3004, “I was foundεὑρέθηνheurethēnG2147by thoseτοῖςtoisG3588who did not seekζητοῦσιν,zētousinG2212Me,I becameἐγενόμηνegenomēnG1096manifestἐμφανὴςemphanēsG1717to thoseτοῖςtoisG3588who did not askἐπερωτῶσιν.eperōtōsinG1905for Me.”

21But as for IsraelἸσραὴλIsraēlG2474He saysλέγει·legeiG3004, “AllὅληνholēnG3650the dayἡμέρανhēmeranG2250long I have stretchedἐξεπέτασαexepetasaG1600out My handsχεῖράςcheirasG5495to a disobedientἀπειθοῦνταapeithountaG544and obstinateἀντιλέγοντα.¶antilegontaG483peopleλαὸνlaonG2992.”
