Jeremiah 7:16-28
16Therefore prayH6419 not thou for this peopleH5971, neither liftH5375 up cryH7440 nor prayerH8605 for them, neither makeH8085 intercession to me; for I will not hearH8085 thee. 17Seest thou not what they do in the citiesH5892 of JudahH3063 and in the streetsH2351 of JerusalemH3389? 18The children gatherH3950 woodH6086, and the fathersH1 kindleH1197 the fireH784, and the womenH802 kneadH3888 the doughH1217, to makeH6213 cakes to the queenH4446 of heavenH8064, and to pourH5258 out drink-offerings unto otherH312 godsH430, that they may provokeH3707 me to angerH3707. 19Do they provokeH3707 me to angerH3707? saith Jehovah; do they not provokeH3707 themselves, to the confusion of their own facesH6440? 20ThereforeH3651 thusH3541 saith the LordH136 Jehovah: Behold, mine angerH639 and my wrathH2534 shall be pouredH5413 out upon this placeH4725, upon manH120, and upon beast, and upon the treesH6086 of the fieldH7704, and upon the fruitH6529 of the groundH127; and it shall burnH1197, and shall not be quenchedH3518.
21ThusH3541 saith Jehovah of hostsH6635, the GodH430 of IsraelH3478: AddH5595 your burnt-offerings unto your sacrificesH2077, and eatH398 ye fleshH1320. 22For I spake not unto your fathersH1, nor commandedH6680 them in the dayH3117 that I broughtH3318 them out of the landH776 of EgyptH4714, concerning burnt-offerings or sacrificesH2077: 23but this thingH1697 I commandedH6680 them, sayingH559, Hearken unto my voiceH6963, and I will beH1961 your GodH430, and ye shall beH1961 my peopleH5971; and walkH1980 ye in all the wayH1870 that I commandH6680 you, that it may beH1961 wellH3190 with you. 24But they hearkened not, nor inclinedH5186 their earH241, but walked in their own counselsH4156 and in the stubbornnessH8307 of their evilH7451 heartH3820, and went backwardH268, and not forward. 25Since the dayH3117 that your fathersH1 cameH3318 forthH3318 out of the landH776 of EgyptH4714 unto this dayH3117, I have sentH7971 unto you all my servantsH5650 the prophetsH5030, daily risingH7925 up earlyH7925 and sendingH7971 them: 26yet they hearkened not unto me, nor inclinedH5186 their earH241, but madeH7185 their neckH6203 stiff: they did worse than their fathersH1.
27And thou shalt speakH1696 all these wordsH1697 unto them; but they will not hearken to thee: thou shalt also callH7121 unto them; but they will not answerH6030 thee. 28And thou shalt sayH559 unto them, This is the nationH1471 that hath not hearkened to the voiceH6963 of Jehovah their GodH430, nor receivedH3947 instruction: truth is perishedH6, and is cutH3772 off from their mouthH6310.
