Believers Are Dead to Sin, Alive to God
11WhatG5101 shall we sayG3004 thenG3767? Are we to 2continueG1961 in sinG266 soG2443 thatG2443 graceG5485 may increaseG4121? 234FarG3361 fromG3361 it! HowG4459 shall we whoG3748 5diedG599 to sinG266 stillG2089 liveG2198 in it? 3OrG2228 do you not knowG50 that allG3745 of us whoG3745 have been 6baptizedG907 into 7ChristG5547 JesusG2424 have been baptizedG907 into His deathG2288? 4ThereforeG3767 we have been 8buriedG4916 with Him throughG1223 baptismG908 into deathG2288, soG2443 thatG2443, justG5618 as ChristG5547 was 9raisedG1453 from the deadG3498 throughG1223 the 10gloryG1391 of the FatherG3962, soG3779 we tooG2532 may walkG4043 in 11newnessG2538 of lifeG2222. 5For 12ifG1487 we have becomeG1096 13unitedG4854 with Him in the likenessG3667 of His deathG2288, certainlyG235 we shall alsoG2532 be 14in the likeness of His resurrectionG386, 6knowingG1097 thisG3778, that our 15oldG3820 16selfG444 was 17crucifiedG4957 with Him, inG2443 orderG2443 thatG2443 our 18bodyG4983 of sinG266 might be 19doneG2673 awayG2673 withG2673, so that we would noG3371 longerG3371 be slavesG1398 to sinG266; 7for 20the one who has diedG599 is 21freedG1344 from sinG266.
8NowG1161 22ifG1487 we have diedG599 with ChristG5547, we believeG4100 that 23we shall alsoG2532 liveG4800 with Him, 9knowingG3609 that ChristG5547, having been 24raisedG1453 from the deadG3498, 25is neverG3765 to dieG599 againG3765; 26deathG2288 noG3765 longerG3765 is masterG2961 overG2961 Him. 10For 27the death that He diedG599, He diedG599 to sinG266 onceG2178 forG2178 allG2178 time; but 28the life that He livesG2198, He livesG2198 to 29GodG2316. 11SoG3779 you tooG2532, considerG3049 yourselvesG1438 to be 30deadG3498 to sinG266, but aliveG2198 to GodG2316 in ChristG5547 JesusG2424.
12ThereforeG3767 sinG266 is not to 31reignG936 in your mortalG2349 bodyG4983 soG1519 thatG1519 you obeyG5219 its lustsG1939, 13and do not go on 32presentingG3936 33the partsG3196 of your body to sinG266 as 34instrumentsG3696 of unrighteousnessG93; but 35presentG3936 yourselvesG1438 to GodG2316 as those who areG2198 aliveG2198 from the deadG3498, and 36your body’s partsG3196 as 37instrumentsG3696 of righteousnessG1343 for GodG2316. 14For 38sinG266 shall not 39be masterG2961 overG2961 you, for 40you are not underG5259 41the LawG3551 but 42underG5259 graceG5485.
15WhatG5101 thenG3767? 43Are we to sinG264 becauseG3754 we are not underG5259 44the LawG3551 but underG5259 graceG5485? 4546FarG3361 fromG3361 it! 16Do you not 47knowG3609 that the one to whomG3739 you presentG3936 yourselvesG1438 as 48slavesG1401 for obedienceG5218, you are slavesG1401 of that same one whomG3739 you obeyG5219, eitherG2273 of 49sinG266 50resultingG1519 inG1519 deathG2288, orG2228 of obedienceG5218 51resultingG1519 inG1519 righteousnessG1343? 17But 52thanksG5485 be to GodG2316 that 53though you were slavesG1401 of sinG266, you becameG5219 obedientG5219 from the heartG2588 to that 5455formG5179 of teachingG1322 to whichG3739 you were entrustedG3860, 18and after being 56freedG1659 from sinG266, you becameG1402 slavesG1402 to righteousnessG1343. 1957I am speakingG3004 58inG442 humanG442 termsG442 becauseG1223 of the weaknessG769 of your fleshG4561. For justG5618 59as you presentedG3936 60the partsG3196 of your body as slavesG1400 to impurityG167 and to lawlessnessG458, 61resultingG1519 inG1519 further lawlessnessG458, soG3779 nowG3568 presentG3936 62your body’s partsG3196 as slavesG1400 to righteousnessG1343, 63resultingG1519 inG1519 sanctificationG38.
20For 64whenG3753 you were slavesG1401 of sinG266, you were freeG1658 in relation to righteousnessG1343. 21ThereforeG3767 whatG5101 6566benefitG2590 were you thenG5119 67derivingG2192 from the things of whichG3739 you areG1870 nowG3568 ashamedG1870? For the outcomeG5056 of thoseG1565 thingsG1565 is 68deathG2288. 22But nowG3570 having been 69freedG1659 from sinG266 and 70enslavedG1402 to GodG2316, you 71deriveG2192 your 7273benefitG2590, 74resultingG1519 inG1519 sanctificationG38, and 75the outcomeG5056, eternalG166 lifeG2222. 23For the wagesG3800 of 76sinG266 is deathG2288, but the graciousG5486 giftG5486 of GodG2316 is 77eternalG166 lifeG2222 in ChristG5547 JesusG2424 our LordG2962.
