15NowδὲdeG1161whenὡςhōsG5613she andher householdοἶκοςoikosG3624had been baptizedἐβαπτίσθηebaptisthēG907,she urgedπαρεκάλεσενparekalesenG3870us,sayingλέγουσα·legousaG3004, “IfεἰeiG1487you have judgedκεκρίκατέkekrikateG2919me to be faithfulπιστὴνpistēnG4103to the LordκυρίῳkuriōG2962,comeεἰσελθόντεςeiselthontesG1525into my houseοἶκόνoikonG3624and stayμένετε·meneteG3306.”And she prevailedπαρεβιάσατοparebiasatoG3849upon us.

16It happenedἘγένετοEgenetoG1096that as we were goingπορευομένωνporeuomenōnG4198tothe placeG4335of prayerπροσευχήν,proseuchēnG4335,a slaveG3814womanG3814who hadἔχουσανechousanG2192a spiritπνεῦμαpneumaG4151of divinationπύθωναputhōnaG4436metὑπαντῆσαιhupantēsaiG5221us, whoἥτιςhētisG3748was bringingπαρεῖχενpareichenG3930greatπολλὴνpollēnG4183profitἐργασίανergasianG2039to her mastersκυρίοιςkurioisG2962by fortune-tellingμαντευομένη.manteuomenēG3132.

17She followedG2628PaulΠαύλῳPaulōG3972and us and criedἔκραζενekrazenG2896outG2896repeatedly,sayingλέγουσα·legousaG3004, “TheseG3778menἄνθρωποιanthrōpoiG444are bond-servantsδοῦλοιdouloiG1401ofthe MostὑψίστουhupsistouG5310HighG5310GodθεοῦtheouG2316,whoοἵτινεςoitinesG3748are proclaimingκαταγγέλλουσινkatangellousinG2605to you a wayὁδὸνhodonG3598of salvationσωτηρίας.sōtēriasG4991.”

18NowG1161she continued doingἐποίειepoieiG4160thisτοῦτοtoutoG3778for manyπολλὰςpollasG4183daysἡμέρας.hēmerasG2250.But PaulΠαῦλοςPaulosG3972was greatlyG1278annoyedG1278,and he turnedἐπιστρέψαςepistrepsasG1994and saidG3004to the spiritπνεύματιpneumatiG4151, “I commandπαραγγέλλωparangellōG3853youin the nameὀνόματιonomatiG3686of JesusἸησοῦIēsouG2424ChristΧριστοῦChristouG5547to comeG1831outG1831of her!” And it cameG1831outG1831at that veryG846momentὥρᾳ.hōraG5610.

19But when her mastersκύριοιkurioiG2962sawG3708that their hopeἐλπὶςelpisG1680ofprofitἐργασίαςergasiasG2039was suddenlygoneἐξῆλθενexēlthenG1831,they seizedἐπιλαβόμενοιepilabomenoiG1949PaulΠαῦλονPaulonG3972and SilasΣιλᾶνSilanG4609anddraggedεἵλκυσανeilkusanG1670them into the marketplaceἀγορὰνagoranG58beforeἐπὶepiG1909the authoritiesἄρχοντας,archontasG758,

20and when they had broughtπροσαγαγόντεςprosagagontesG4317them to the chiefG4755magistratesG4755,they saidG3004, “TheseοὗτοιhoutoiG3778menἄνθρωποιanthrōpoiG444,JewsἸουδαῖοιIoudaioiG2453asG2453theyG2453areG2453,are causingG1613our cityπόλινpolinG4172troubleG1613,

21and theyare proclaimingκαταγγέλλουσινkatangellousinG2605customsἔθηethēG1485that are not lawfulἔξεστινexestinG1832for us to acceptπαραδέχεσθαιparadechesthaiG3858orοὐδὲoudeG3761to practiceποιεῖνpoieinG4160, since we areRomansῬωμαίοιςRhōmaioisG4514.”

22The crowdὄχλοςochlosG3793joinedG4911inG4911anG4911attackG4911againstκατ᾽kat᾽G2596them, and the chiefG4755magistratesG4755toreG4048theirrobesἱμάτιαhimatiaG2440offG4048them and proceeded to orderἐκέλευονekeleuonG2753them to bebeatenG4463withG4463rodsῥαβδίζειν·rhabdizeinG4463.

23When they had struckἐπιθέντεςepithentesG2007them with manyπολλάςpollasG4183blowsπληγὰςplēgasG4127,they threwἔβαλονebalonG906them into prisonφυλακὴνphulakēnG5438,commandingπαραγγείλαντεςparangeilantesG3853the jailerδεσμοφύλακιdesmophulakiG1200to guardτηρεῖνtēreinG5083them securelyἀσφαλῶςasphalōsG806;

24and he, having receivedλαβὼνlabōnG2983suchτοιαύτηνtoiautēnG5108a commandπαραγγελίανparangelianG3852,threwἔβαλενebalenG906them into the innerἐσωτέρανesōteranG2082prisonφυλακὴνphulakēnG5438and fastenedἠσφαλίσατοēsphalisatoG805their feetπόδαςpodasG4228in thestocksξύλον.¶xulonG3586.

25NowG1161aboutΚατὰKataG2596midnightμεσονύκτιονmesonuktionG3317PaulΠαῦλοςPaulosG3972and SilasΣιλᾶςSilasG4609were prayingπροσευχόμενοιproseuchomenoiG4336andsingingG5214hymnsG5214ofG5214praiseG5214to Godθεόν·theonG2316,and the prisonersδέσμιοι.desmioiG1198were listeningG1874toG1874them;

26and suddenlyἄφνωaphnōG869there was a greatμέγαςmegasG3173earthquakeσεισμὸςseismosG4578,soὥστεhōsteG5620thatG5620the foundationsθεμέλιαthemeliaG2310of the prisonδεσμωτηρίου·desmōtēriouG1201were shakenσαλευθῆναιsaleuthēnaiG4531;and immediatelyπαραχρῆμαparachrēmaG3916allπᾶσαι,pasaiG3956the doorsθύραιthuraiG2374were openedἠνεῴχθησανēneōchthēsanG455,and everyone’sπάντωνpantōnG3956chainsδεσμὰdesmaG1199were unfastenedἀνέθη.anethēG447.

27Whenthe jailerδεσμοφύλαξdesmophulaxG1200awokeἔξυπνοςexupnosG1853and sawG3708the prisonφυλακῆς,phulakēsG5438doorsθύραςthurasG2374openedἀνεῳγμέναςaneōgmenasG455,he drewσπασάμενοςspasamenosG4685hisswordμάχαιρανmachairanG3162and wasG3195aboutG3195toG3195killἀναιρεῖνanaireinG337himselfἑαυτὸνhe'autonG1438,thinkingνομίζωνnomizōnG3543that the prisonersδεσμίους.¶desmiousG1198had escapedἐκπεφευγέναιekpepheugenaiG1628.

28But PaulΠαῦλοςPaulosG3972calledἘφώνησενEphōnēsenG5455outG5455with a loudG3173voiceφωνῇphōnēaG5456,sayingλέγων·legōnG3004, “DoπράξῃςpraxēsG4238not harmκακόν·kakonG2556yourselfG4572,for we are allἅπαντεςhapantesG537hereἐνθάδε.enthadeG1759!”

29And the jaileraskedαἰτήσαςaitēsasG154for lightsφῶταphōtaG5457and rushedG1530inG1530,and tremblingG1790withG1790fearG1790,he fellG4363downπροσέπεσενprosepesenG4363beforeG4363PaulΠαύλῳPaulōG3972and SilasΣιλᾷ,SilaG4609;

30and after he broughtπροαγαγὼνproagagōnG4254them out, he saidἔφη·ephēG5346, “Sirsκύριοι,kurioiG2962,whatτίtiG5101mustδεῖdeiG1163I doποιεῖνpoieinG4160to be savedσωθῶ;sōthōG4982?”

31They saidG3004, “BelieveπίστευσονpisteusonG4100in the LordκύριονkurionG2962JesusἸησοῦνIēsounG2424,and you will be savedσωθήσῃsōthēsēG4982, you andyour householdοἶκόςoikosG3624.”

32And they spokeἐλάλησανelalēsanG2980the wordλόγονlogonG3056of GodκυρίουkuriouG2962to him togetherσὺνsunG4862with allπᾶσινpasinG3956whoG3588were in his houseοἰκίᾳoikiaG3614.

33And he tookπαραλαβὼνparalabōnG3880them that veryhourὥρᾳhōraG5610of the nightνυκτὸςnuktosG3571and washedἔλουσενelousenG3068their woundsπληγῶν,plēgōnG4127,and immediatelyπαραχρῆμα.parachrēmaG3916he was baptizedἐβαπτίσθηebaptisthēG907,he and allG537his household.
