1If there beH1961 a controversy between menH376, and they resort to judgmentH4941, and they judgeH8199 [their caseH7379]; then they shall justifyH6663 the righteousH6662, and condemnH7561 the wickedH7563.
2And it shall beH1961 if the wickedH7563 man have deserved to beH1961 beaten, that the judgeH8199 shall cause him to lie down, and beH1961 beaten before his faceH6440, according to the measure of his wickednessH7564 with a certain numberH4557 [of stripes].
3With fortyH705 [stripes] shall they beat him; they shall not exceed, lestH6435, if they continue to beat him with manyH7227 stripes above these, thy brotherH251 become despicable in thine eyesH5869.
