Jeremiah 51:30-58
30The mightyH1368 menH1368 of BabylonH894 have forborne to fightH3898, they remainH3427 in their strongholdsH4679; their might hath failed; they are becomeH1961 as womenH802: her dwelling-places are setH3341 on fireH3341; her barsH1280 are brokenH7665. 31One post shall runH7323 to meet another, and one messenger to meet another, to show the kingH4428 of BabylonH894 that his cityH5892 is takenH3920 on every quarter: 32and the passages are seizedH8610, and the reeds they have burnedH8313 with fireH784, and the menH376 of warH4421 are affrighted.
33For thusH3541 saith Jehovah of hostsH6635, the GodH430 of IsraelH3478: The daughterH1323 of BabylonH894 is like a threshing-floor at the timeH6256 when it is troddenH1869; yetH5750 a littleH4592 while, and the timeH6256 of harvestH7105 shall comeH935 for her. 34Nebuchadrezzar the kingH4428 of BabylonH894 hath devouredH398 me, he hath crushed me, he hath made me an empty vesselH3627, he hath, like a monsterH8577, swallowedH1104 me up, he hath filledH4390 his maw with my delicacies; he hath cast me out. 35The violenceH2555 done to me and to my fleshH7607 be upon BabylonH894, shall the inhabitantH3427 of ZionH6726 sayH559; and, My bloodH1818 be upon the inhabitantsH3427 of ChaldeaH3778, shall JerusalemH3389 sayH559. 36ThereforeH3651 thusH3541 saith Jehovah: Behold, I will plead thy causeH7379, and take vengeanceH5360 for thee; and I will dryH3001 up her seaH3220, and makeH3001 her fountainH4726 dryH3001. 37And BabylonH894 shall becomeH1961 heapsH1530, a dwelling-place for jackalsH8577, an astonishment, and a hissing, without inhabitantH3427. 38They shall roarH7580 togetherH3162 like youngH3715 lionsH738; they shall growl as lions’H738 whelps. 39When they are heated, I will makeH7896 their feastH4960, and I will makeH7896 them drunken, that they may rejoiceH5937, and sleepH8142 a perpetual sleepH8142, and not wake, saith Jehovah. 40I will bringH3381 them downH3381 like lambsH3733 to the slaughterH2873, like ramsH352 with he-goats.
41HowH349 is SheshachH8347 takenH3920! and the praiseH8416 of the whole earthH776 seizedH8610! howH349 is BabylonH894 becomeH1961 a desolationH8047 among the nationsH1471! 42The seaH3220 is comeH5927 up upon BabylonH894; she is coveredH3680 with the multitudeH1995 of the waves thereof. 43Her citiesH5892 are becomeH1961 a desolationH8047, a dryH6723 landH776, and a desertH6160, a landH776 wherein no manH376 dwelleth, neither doth any sonH1121 of manH376 passH5674 thereby. 44And I will execute judgmentH6485 upon BelH1078 in BabylonH894, and I will bringH3318 forthH3318 out of his mouthH6310 that which he hath swallowed up; and the nationsH1471 shall not flow any more unto him: yea, the wallH2346 of BabylonH894 shall fallH5307.
45My peopleH5971, goH3318 ye out of the midstH8432 of her, and saveH4422 yourselves every manH376 from the fierce angerH639 of Jehovah. 46And let not your heartH3824 faint, neither fearH3372 ye for the tidings that shall be heardH8085 in the landH776; for tidings shall comeH935 one yearH8141, and after that in another yearH8141 shall comeH935 tidings, and violenceH2555 in the landH776, rulerH4910 against rulerH4910. 47ThereforeH3651, behold, the daysH3117 comeH935, that I will execute judgment upon the graven images of BabylonH894; and her whole landH776 shall be confounded; and all her slainH2491 shall fallH5307 in the midstH8432 of her. 48Then the heavensH8064 and the earthH776, and all that is therein, shall singH7442 for joyH7442 over BabylonH894; for the destroyersH7703 shall comeH935 unto her from the northH6828, saith Jehovah. 49As BabylonH894 hath caused the slainH2491 of IsraelH3478 to fallH5307, so at BabylonH894 shall fallH5307 the slainH2491 of all the landH776.
50Ye that have escaped the swordH2719, goH1980 ye, standH5975 not stillH5975; rememberH2142 Jehovah from afarH7350, and let JerusalemH3389 comeH1980 into your mind. 51We are confounded, because we have heardH8085 reproachH2781; confusion hath coveredH3680 our facesH6440: for strangersH2114 are comeH935 into the sanctuariesH4720 of Jehovah’s houseH1004. 52Wherefore, behold, the daysH3117 comeH935, saith Jehovah, that I will execute judgment upon her graven images; and through all her landH776 the woundedH2491 shall groanH602. 53Though BabylonH894 should mount up to heavenH8064, and though she should fortifyH1219 the heightH4791 of her strengthH5797, yet from me shall destroyersH7703 comeH935 unto her, saith Jehovah.
54The soundH6963 of a cryH2201 from BabylonH894, and of greatH1419 destructionH7667 from the landH776 of the ChaldeansH3778! 55For Jehovah layeth BabylonH894 waste, and destroyeth out of her the greatH1419 voiceH6963; and their waves roarH1993 like manyH7227 watersH4325; the noise of their voiceH6963 is uttered: 56for the destroyerH7703 is comeH935 upon her, even upon BabylonH894, and her mightyH1368 menH1368 are takenH3920, their bowsH7198 are broken in pieces; for Jehovah is a GodH410 of recompenses, he will surely requite. 57And I will makeH7937 drunkH7937 her princesH8269 and her wiseH2450 menH1368, her governorsH6346 and her deputies, and her mightyH1368 menH1368; and they shall sleepH8142 a perpetual sleepH8142, and not wake, saith the KingH4428, whose nameH8034 is Jehovah of hostsH6635. 58ThusH3541 saith Jehovah of hostsH6635: The broadH7342 wallsH2346 of BabylonH894 shall be utterly overthrown, and her highH1364 gatesH8179 shall be burnedH3341 with fireH784; and the peoplesH5971 shall laborH3021 for vanity, and the nations for the fireH784; and they shall be wearyH3021.
