Genesis 19
American Standard Version
1And the twoH8147 angelsH4397 cameH935 to SodomH5467 at even; and LotH3876 satH3427 in the gateH8179 of SodomH5467: and LotH3876 sawH7200 them, and roseH6965 up to meet them; and he bowedH7812 himself with his faceH639 to the earthH776; 2and he saidH559, Behold now, my lordsH113, turnH5493 asideH5493, I pray you, into your servant’sH5650 houseH1004, and tarry all night, and washH7364 your feetH7272, and ye shall riseH7925 up earlyH7925, and goH1980 on your wayH1870. And they saidH559, Nay; but we will abide in the street all night. 3And he urged them greatly; and they turnedH5493 in unto him, and entered into his houseH1004; and he madeH6213 them a feastH4960, and did bakeH644 unleavenedH4682 breadH4682, and they did eatH398. 4But before they layH7901 downH7901, the menH376 of the cityH5892, even the menH376 of SodomH5467, compassed the houseH1004 roundH5437, both youngH5288 and oldH2205, all the peopleH5971 from every quarter; 5and they calledH7121 unto LotH3876, and saidH559 unto him, WhereH834 are the menH376 that cameH935 in to thee this nightH3915? bringH935 them out unto us, that we may knowH3045 them. 6And LotH3876 wentH3318 out unto them to the doorH1817, and shutH5462 the doorH1817 after him. 7And he saidH559, I pray you, my brethren, do not so wickedly. 8Behold now, I have twoH8147 daughtersH1323 that have not knownH3045 manH376; let me, I pray you, bringH935 them out unto you, and do ye to them as is goodH2896 in your eyesH5869: onlyH7535 unto these menH376 do nothing, forasmuch as they are comeH935 under the shadowH6738 of my roof. 9And they saidH559, Stand back. And they saidH559, This oneH259 fellow cameH935 in to sojourn, and he will needs be a judgeH8199: nowH6258 will we deal worse with thee, than with them. And they pressed sore upon the manH376, even LotH3876, and drewH5066 near to breakH7665 the doorH1817. 10But the menH376 put forthH7971 their handH3027, and broughtH935 LotH3876 into the houseH1004 to them, and shutH5462 to the doorH1817. 11And they smote the menH376 that were at the doorH6607 of the houseH1004 with blindnessH5575, both smallH6996 and greatH1419, so that they weariedH3811 themselves to findH4672 the doorH6607.
12And the menH376 saidH559 unto LotH3876, Hast thou hereH6311 any besides? son-in-law, and thy sonsH1121, and thy daughtersH1323, and whomsoever thou hast in the cityH5892, bringH3318 them out of the placeH4725: 13for we will destroyH7843 this placeH4725, because the cryH6818 of them is waxed greatH1431 before Jehovah; and Jehovah hath sentH7971 us to destroyH7843 it. 14And LotH3876 wentH3318 out, and spake unto his sons-in-law, who married his daughtersH1323, and saidH559, Up, get you out of this placeH4725; for Jehovah will destroyH7843 the cityH5892. But he seemed unto his sons-in-law as oneH2088 that mocked. 15And when the morning aroseH6965, then the angelsH4397 hastened LotH3876, sayingH559, AriseH6965, takeH3947 thy wifeH802, and thy twoH8147 daughtersH1323 that are here, lestH6435 thou be consumed in the iniquityH5771 of the cityH5892. 16But he lingered; and the menH376 laid holdH2388 upon his handH3027, and upon the handH3027 of his wifeH802, and upon the handH3027 of his twoH8147 daughtersH1323, Jehovah being merciful unto him: and they broughtH3318 him forthH3318, and set him without the cityH5892. 17And it came to pass, when they had broughtH3318 them forthH3318 abroad, that he saidH559, EscapeH4422 for thy lifeH5315; lookH5027 not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the Plain; escapeH4422 to the mountainH2022, lestH6435 thou beH1961 consumed. 18And LotH3876 saidH559 unto them, Oh, not so, my lordH136: 19behold now, thy servantH5650 hath foundH4672 favorH2580 in thy sight, and thou hast magnifiedH1431 thy lovingkindness, which thou hast showed unto me in saving my lifeH5315; and I cannot escapeH4422 to the mountainH2022, lestH6435 evilH7451 overtake me, and I dieH4191: 20behold now, this cityH5892 is near to fleeH5127 unto, and it is a little one. Oh let me escapeH4422 thither (is it not a little one?), and my soulH5315 shall liveH2421. 21And he saidH559 unto him, See, I have accepted thee concerningH413 this thingH1697 alsoH1571, that I will not overthrowH2015 the cityH5892 of which thou hast spokenH1696. 22HasteH4116 thee, escapeH4422 thither; for I cannot do anythingH1697 till thou be comeH935 thither. ThereforeH3651 the nameH8034 of the cityH5892 was calledH7121 ZoarH6820.
23The sunH8121 was risen upon the earthH776 when LotH3876 cameH935 unto ZoarH6820. 24Then Jehovah rainedH4305 upon SodomH5467 and upon GomorrahH6017 brimstone and fireH784 from Jehovah out of heavenH8064; 25and he overthrewH2015 those citiesH5892, and all the Plain, and all the inhabitantsH3427 of the citiesH5892, and that which grew upon the groundH127. 26But his wifeH802 lookedH5027 back from behind him, and she becameH1961 a pillar of saltH4417. 27And AbrahamH85 gat up earlyH7925 in the morningH1242 to the placeH4725 whereH834 he had stoodH5975 before Jehovah: 28and he lookedH7200 toward SodomH5467 and GomorrahH6017, and toward all the landH776 of the Plain, and beheld, and, lo, the smokeH7008 of the landH776 wentH5927 up as the smokeH7008 of a furnaceH3536.
29And it came to pass, when GodH430 destroyedH7843 the citiesH5892 of the Plain, that GodH430 rememberedH2142 AbrahamH85, and sentH7971 LotH3876 out of the midstH8432 of the overthrowH2015, when he overthrewH2015 the citiesH5892 in which LotH3876 dweltH3427.
30And LotH3876 wentH5927 up out of ZoarH6820, and dweltH3427 in the mountainH2022, and his twoH8147 daughtersH1323 with him; for he fearedH3372 to dwellH3427 in ZoarH6820: and he dweltH3427 in a caveH4631, he and his twoH8147 daughtersH1323. 31And the first-born saidH559 unto the youngerH6810, Our fatherH1 is oldH2204, and there is not a manH376 in the earthH776 to comeH935 in unto us after the manner of all the earthH776: 32come, let us make our fatherH1 drinkH8248 wineH3196, and we will lieH7901 with him, that we may preserveH2421 seedH2233 of our fatherH1. 33And they madeH3045 their fatherH1 drinkH8248 wineH3196 that nightH3915: and the first-born wentH935 in, and layH7901 with her fatherH1; and he knewH3045 not when she layH7901 downH7901, nor when she aroseH6965. 34And it cameH935 to pass on the morrow, that the first-born saidH559 unto the youngerH6810, Behold, I layH7901 yesternight with my fatherH1: let us make him drinkH8248 wineH3196 this nightH3915 alsoH1571; and goH935 thou in, and lieH7901 with him, that we may preserveH2421 seedH2233 of our fatherH1. 35And they madeH3045 their fatherH1 drinkH8248 wineH3196 that nightH3915 alsoH1571: and the youngerH6810 aroseH6965, and layH7901 with him; and he knewH3045 not when she layH7901 downH7901, nor when she aroseH6965. 36Thus were both the daughtersH1323 of LotH3876 with child by their fatherH1. 37And the first-born bare a sonH1121, and calledH7121 his nameH8034 MoabH4124: the same is the fatherH1 of the Moabites unto this dayH3117. 38And the youngerH6810, she alsoH1571 bare a sonH1121, and calledH7121 his nameH8034 Ben-ammi: the same is the fatherH1 of the children of AmmonH5983 unto this dayH3117.
