Deuteronomy 28

1And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voiceH6963 of Jehovah thy GodH430, to observeH8104 to do all his commandmentsH4687 which I commandH6680 thee this dayH3117, that Jehovah thy GodH430 will setH5414 thee on high above all the nationsH1471 of the earthH776: 2and all these blessingsH1293 shall comeH935 upon thee, and overtakeH5381 thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voiceH6963 of Jehovah thy GodH430. 3BlessedH1288 shalt thou be in the cityH5892, and blessedH1288 shalt thou be in the fieldH7704. 4BlessedH1288 shall be the fruitH6529 of thy body, and the fruitH6529 of thy groundH127, and the fruitH6529 of thy beasts, the increase of thy cattleH929, and the youngH6251 of thy flockH6629. 5BlessedH1288 shall be thy basketH2935 and thy kneading-trough. 6BlessedH1288 shalt thou be when thou comest in, and blessedH1288 shalt thou be when thou goest out.

7Jehovah will cause thine enemiesH341 that riseH6965 up against thee to be smitten before thee: they shall comeH3318 out against thee oneH259 wayH1870, and shall fleeH5127 before thee sevenH7651 waysH1870. 8Jehovah will commandH6680 the blessingH1293 upon thee in thy barns, and in all that thou puttest thy handH3027 unto; and he will blessH1288 thee in the landH776 which Jehovah thy GodH430 giveth thee. 9Jehovah will establishH6965 thee for a holyH6918 peopleH5971 unto himself, as he hath swornH7650 unto thee; if thou shalt keepH8104 the commandmentsH4687 of Jehovah thy GodH430, and walkH1980 in his waysH1870. 10And all the peoplesH5971 of the earthH776 shall seeH7200 that thou art calledH7121 by the nameH8034 of Jehovah; and they shall be afraidH3372 of thee. 11And Jehovah will makeH5414 thee plenteous for goodH2896, in the fruitH6529 of thy body, and in the fruitH6529 of thy cattleH929, and in the fruitH6529 of thy groundH127, in the landH127 which Jehovah sware unto thy fathersH1 to giveH5414 thee. 12Jehovah will openH6605 unto thee his goodH2896 treasureH214 the heavensH8064, to giveH5414 the rainH4306 of thy landH776 in its season, and to blessH1288 all the workH4639 of thy handH3027: and thou shalt lend unto manyH7227 nationsH1471, and thou shalt not borrow. 13And Jehovah will makeH5414 thee the headH7218, and not the tailH2180; and thou shalt beH1961 above onlyH7535, and thou shalt not beH1961 beneath; if thou shalt hearken unto the commandmentsH4687 of Jehovah thy GodH430, which I commandH6680 thee this dayH3117, to observeH8104 and to do them, 14and shalt not turnH5493 asideH5493 from any of the wordsH1697 which I commandH6680 you this dayH3117, to the rightH3225 handH3225, or to the left, to go after otherH312 godsH430 to serveH5647 them.

15But it shall comeH935 to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voiceH6963 of Jehovah thy GodH430, to observeH8104 to do all his commandmentsH4687 and his statutesH2708 which I commandH6680 thee this dayH3117, that all these cursesH7045 shall comeH935 upon thee, and overtakeH5381 thee. 16CursedH779 shalt thou be in the cityH5892, and cursedH779 shalt thou be in the fieldH7704. 17CursedH779 shall be thy basketH2935 and thy kneading-trough. 18CursedH779 shall be the fruitH6529 of thy body, and the fruitH6529 of thy groundH127, the increase of thy cattle, and the youngH6251 of thy flockH6629. 19CursedH779 shalt thou be when thou comest in, and cursedH779 shalt thou be when thou goest out.

20Jehovah will sendH7971 upon thee cursing, discomfiture, and rebuke, in all that thou puttest thy handH3027 unto to do, until thou be destroyedH8045, and until thou perishH6 quicklyH4118; because of the evil of thy doings, whereby thou hast forsaken me. 21Jehovah will makeH3615 the pestilenceH1698 cleave unto thee, until he have consumed thee from off the landH127, whither thou goest in to possessH3423 it. 22Jehovah will smite thee with consumptionH7829, and with feverH6920, and with inflammation, and with fiery heat, and with the swordH2719, and with blasting, and with mildewH3420; and they shall pursueH7291 thee until thou perishH6. 23And thy heavenH8064 that is over thy headH7218 shall beH1961 brass, and the earthH776 that is under thee shall beH1961 ironH1270. 24Jehovah will makeH5414 the rainH4306 of thy landH776 powder and dustH6083: from heavenH8064 shall it comeH3381 down upon thee, until thou be destroyedH8045.

25Jehovah will cause thee to beH1961 smitten before thine enemiesH341; thou shalt goH3318 out oneH259 wayH1870 against them, and shalt fleeH5127 sevenH7651 waysH1870 before them: and thou shalt beH1961 tossed to and from among all the kingdomsH4467 of the earthH776. 26And thy dead body shall beH1961 foodH3978 unto all birdsH5775 of the heavensH8064, and unto the beasts of the earthH776; and there shall beH1961 none to frighten them away. 27Jehovah will smite thee with the boilH7822 of EgyptH4714, and with the emerods, and with the scurvy, and with the itch, whereof thou canst not be healedH7495. 28Jehovah will smite thee with madnessH7697, and with blindnessH5788, and with astonishment of heartH3824; 29and thou shalt gropeH4959 at noonday, as the blindH5787 gropeth in darknessH653, and thou shalt not prosperH6743 in thy waysH1870: and thou shalt beH1961 onlyH389 oppressedH6231 and robbedH1497 alway, and there shall beH1961 none to saveH3467 thee. 30Thou shalt betrothH781 a wifeH802, and another manH376 shall lie with her: thou shalt buildH1129 a houseH1004, and thou shalt not dwellH3427 therein: thou shalt plantH5193 a vineyardH3754, and shalt not use the fruit thereof. 31Thine oxH7794 shall be slain before thine eyesH5869, and thou shalt not eatH398 thereof: thine ass shall be violently taken awayH7725 from before thy faceH6440, and shall not be restoredH7725 to thee: thy sheepH6629 shall be givenH5414 unto thine enemiesH341, and thou shalt have none to saveH3467 thee. 32Thy sonsH1121 and thy daughtersH1323 shall be givenH5414 unto another peopleH5971; and thine eyesH5869 shall lookH7200, and fail with longing for them all the dayH3117: and there shall be nought in the power of thy handH3027. 33The fruitH6529 of thy groundH127, and all thy labors, shall a nation which thou knowest not eatH398 up; and thou shalt beH1961 onlyH7535 oppressedH6231 and crushedH7533 alway; 34so that thou shalt beH1961 madH7696 for the sight of thine eyesH5869 which thou shalt seeH7200. 35Jehovah will smite thee in the knees, and in the legs, with a sore boilH7822, whereof thou canst not be healedH7495, from the soleH3709 of thy footH7272 unto the crown of thy head.

36Jehovah will bring thee, and thy kingH4428 whom thou shalt setH6965 over thee, unto a nationH1471 that thou hast not knownH3045, thou nor thy fathersH1; and there shalt thou serveH5647 otherH312 godsH430, woodH6086 and stoneH68. 37And thou shalt becomeH1961 an astonishment, a proverbH4912, and a bywordH4912, among all the peoplesH5971 whither Jehovah shall lead thee away. 38Thou shalt carry muchH7227 seedH2233 out into the fieldH7704, and shalt gatherH622 littleH4592 in; for the locustH697 shall consume it. 39Thou shalt plantH5193 vineyardsH3754 and dress them, but thou shalt neither drinkH8354 of the wineH3196, nor gatherH103 the grapes; for the worm shall eatH398 them. 40Thou shalt have olive-trees throughout all thy bordersH1366, but thou shalt not anointH5480 thyself with the oilH8081; for thine oliveH2132 shall cast its fruit. 41Thou shalt beget sonsH1121 and daughtersH1323, but they shall not beH1961 thine; for they shall go into captivityH7628. 42All thy treesH6086 and the fruitH6529 of thy groundH127 shall the locust possessH3423. 43The sojournerH1616 that is in the midstH7130 of thee shall mount up above thee higher and higher; and thou shalt comeH5927 down lower and lower. 44He shall lendH3867 to thee, and thou shalt not lendH3867 to him: he shall beH1961 the headH7218, and thou shalt beH1961 the tailH2180. 45And all these cursesH7045 shall comeH935 upon thee, and shall pursueH7291 thee, and overtakeH5381 thee, till thou be destroyedH8045; because thou hearkenedst not unto the voiceH6963 of Jehovah thy GodH430, to keepH8104 his commandmentsH4687 and his statutesH2708 which he commandedH6680 thee: 46and they shall beH1961 upon thee for a signH226 and for a wonderH4159, and upon thy seedH2233 for everH5769.

47Because thou servedst not Jehovah thy GodH430 with joyfulness, and with gladnessH8057 of heartH3824, by reason of the abundanceH7230 of all things; 48therefore shalt thou serveH5647 thine enemiesH341 that Jehovah shall sendH7971 against thee, in hungerH7458, and in thirstH6772, and in nakednessH5903, and in want of all things: and he shall putH5414 a yokeH5923 of ironH1270 upon thy neckH6677, until he have destroyedH8045 thee. 49Jehovah will bring a nationH1471 against thee from farH7350, from the endH7097 of the earthH776, as the eagleH5404 flieth; a nationH1471 whose tongueH3956 thou shalt not understand; 50a nationH1471 of fierceH5794 countenance, that shall not regard the person of the oldH2205, nor show favor to the youngH5288, 51and shall eatH398 the fruitH6529 of thy cattleH929, and the fruitH6529 of thy groundH127, until thou be destroyedH8045; that also shall not leaveH7604 thee grainH1715, newH8492 wineH8492, or oilH3323, the increase of thy cattleH929, or the youngH6251 of thy flockH6629, until they have caused thee to perishH6. 52And they shall besiege thee in all thy gatesH8179, until thy highH1364 and fortifiedH1219 wallsH2346 comeH3381 down, wherein thou trustedst, throughout all thy landH776; and they shall besiege thee in all thy gatesH8179 throughout all thy landH776, which Jehovah thy GodH430 hath givenH5414 thee. 53And thou shalt eatH398 the fruitH6529 of thine own bodyH1320, the fleshH1320 of thy sonsH1121 and of thy daughtersH1323, whom Jehovah thy GodH430 hath givenH5414 thee, in the siegeH4692 and in the distressH4689 wherewith thine enemiesH341 shall distressH4689 thee. 54The manH376 that is tenderH7390 among you, and veryH3966 delicateH6028, his eyeH5869 shall be evilH7489 toward his brotherH251, and toward the wifeH802 of his bosomH2436, and toward the remnant of his children whom he hath remainingH3498; 55so that he will not giveH5414 to any of them of the fleshH1320 of his children whom he shall eatH398, because he hath nothing leftH7604 him, in the siegeH4692 and in the distressH4689 wherewith thine enemyH341 shall distressH4689 thee in all thy gatesH8179. 56The tenderH7390 and delicateH6028 woman among you, who would not adventure to setH3322 the soleH3709 of her footH7272 upon the groundH776 for delicateness and tenderness, her eyeH5869 shall be evilH7489 toward the husbandH376 of her bosomH2436, and toward her sonH1121, and toward her daughterH1323, 57and toward her youngH1121 one that cometh out from between her feetH7272, and toward her children whom she shall bearH3205; for she shall eatH398 them for want of all things secretly, in the siegeH4692 and in the distressH4689 wherewith thine enemyH341 shall distressH4689 thee in thy gatesH8179.

58If thou wilt not observeH8104 to do all the wordsH1697 of this lawH8451 that are writtenH3789 in this bookH5612, that thou mayest fearH3372 this gloriousH3513 and fearful nameH8034, JEHOVAH THY GODH430; 59then Jehovah will make thy plaguesH4347 wonderfulH6381, and the plaguesH4347 of thy seedH2233, even greatH1419 plaguesH4347, and of long continuance, and sore sicknessesH2483, and of long continuance. 60And he will bringH7725 upon thee again all the diseases of EgyptH4714, which thou wast afraidH3025 of; and they shall cleave unto thee. 61AlsoH1571 every sicknessH2483, and every plagueH4347, which is not writtenH3789 in the bookH5612 of this lawH8451, them will Jehovah bringH5927 upon thee, until thou be destroyedH8045. 62And ye shall beH1961 leftH7604 fewH4592 in number, whereas ye were as the starsH3556 of heavenH8064 for multitudeH7230; because thou didst not hearken unto the voiceH6963 of Jehovah thy GodH430. 63And it shall comeH935 to pass, that, as Jehovah rejoicedH7797 over you to do you goodH3190, and to multiplyH7235 you, soH3651 Jehovah will rejoiceH7797 over you to cause you to perishH6, and to destroyH8045 you; and ye shall beH1961 plucked from off the landH127 whither thou goest in to possessH3423 it. 64And Jehovah will scatterH6327 thee among all peoplesH5971, from the one endH7097 of the earthH776 even unto the otherH312 endH7097 of the earthH776; and there thou shalt serveH5647 otherH312 godsH430, which thou hast not knownH3045, thou nor thy fathersH1, even woodH6086 and stoneH68. 65And among these nationsH1471 shalt thou find no ease, and there shall beH1961 no restH4494 for the soleH3709 of thy footH7272: but Jehovah will giveH5414 thee there a trembling heartH3820, and failing of eyesH5869, and pining of soulH5315; 66and thy lifeH2416 shall hang in doubt before thee; and thou shalt fearH6342 nightH3915 and dayH3119, and shalt have no assurance of thy lifeH2416. 67In the morningH1242 thou shalt sayH559, Would it were even! and at even thou shalt sayH559, Would it were morningH1242! for the fearH6343 of thy heartH3824 which thou shalt fearH6343, and for the sight of thine eyesH5869 which thou shalt seeH7200. 68And Jehovah will bringH7725 thee into EgyptH4714 againH5750 with shipsH591, by the wayH1870 whereof I saidH559 unto thee, Thou shalt seeH7200 it no more againH5750: and there ye shall sellH4376 yourselves unto your enemiesH341 for bondmen and for bondwomen, and no man shall buyH7069 you.
