Deuteronomy 24
When a manH376 taketh a wifeH802, and marrieth her, then it shall beH1961, if she findH4672 no favorH2580 in his eyesH5869, because he hath foundH4672 some unseemly thingH1697 in her, that he shall writeH3789 her a bill of divorcement, and giveH5414 it in her handH3027, and sendH7971 her out of his houseH1004. 2And when she is departed out of his houseH1004, she may goH1980 and beH1961 another man’sH376 wife. 3And if the latterH314 husbandH376 hateH8130 her, and writeH3789 her a bill of divorcement, and giveH5414 it in her handH3027, and sendH7971 her out of his houseH1004; or if the latterH314 husbandH376 dieH4191, who tookH3947 her to be his wifeH802; 4her formerH7223 husbandH1167, who sentH7971 her awayH7971, may not takeH3947 her again to beH1961 his wifeH802, after that she is defiledH2930; for that is abominationH8441 before Jehovah: and thou shalt not cause the landH776 to sinH2398, which Jehovah thy GodH430 giveth thee for an inheritanceH5159.
When a manH376 taketh a newH2319 wifeH802, he shall not goH3318 out in the hostH6635, neither shall he beH1961 charged with any business: he shall beH1961 freeH5355 at home oneH259 yearH8141, and shall cheer his wifeH802 whom he hath takenH3947.
No man shall takeH2254 the mill or the upperH7393 millstoneH7393 to pledge; for he taketh a man’s lifeH5315 to pledge.
If a manH376 be foundH4672 stealingH1589 any of his brethren of the children of IsraelH3478, and he deal with him as a slave, or sellH4376 him; then that thiefH1590 shall dieH4191: so shalt thou putH4191 away the evilH7451 from the midstH7130 of thee.
TakeH8104 heedH8104 in the plagueH5061 of leprosy, that thou observeH8104 diligently, and do according to all that the priestsH3548 the LevitesH3881 shall teachH3384 you: as I commandedH6680 them, so ye shall observeH8104 to do. 9RememberH2142 what Jehovah thy GodH430 did unto MiriamH4813, by the wayH1870 as ye cameH3318 forthH3318 out of EgyptH4714.
When thou dost lendH5670 thy neighborH7453 any manner of loan, thou shalt not goH935 into his houseH1004 to fetch his pledgeH5667. 11Thou shalt standH5975 without, and the manH376 to whom thou dost lend shall bringH3318 forthH3318 the pledgeH5667 without unto thee. 12And if he be a poorH6041 manH376, thou shalt not sleep with his pledgeH5667; 13thou shalt surely restoreH7725 to him the pledgeH5667 when the sunH8121 goeth downH7901, that he may sleep in his garmentH8008, and blessH1288 thee: and it shall beH1961 righteousnessH6666 unto thee before Jehovah thy GodH430.
Thou shalt not oppressH6231 a hired servant that is poorH6041 and needyH34, whether he be of thy brethren, or of thy sojournersH1616 that are in thy landH776 within thy gatesH8179: 15in his dayH3117 thou shalt giveH5414 him his hireH7939, neither shall the sunH8121 goH935 down upon it (for he is poorH6041, and setteth his heart upon it); lest he cry against thee unto Jehovah, and it beH1961 sinH2399 unto thee.
The fathersH1 shall not be putH4191 to deathH4191 for the children, neither shall the children be putH4191 to deathH4191 for the fathersH1: every manH376 shall be putH4191 to deathH4191 for his own sinH2399.
Thou shalt not wrest the justiceH4941 due to the sojournerH1616, or to the fatherlessH3490, nor takeH2254 the widow’sH490 raiment to pledge; 18but thou shalt rememberH2142 that thou wast a bondman in EgyptH4714, and Jehovah thy GodH430 redeemedH6299 thee thence: thereforeH3651 I commandH6680 thee to do this thingH1697.
When thou reapest thy harvestH7105 in thy fieldH7704, and hast forgotH7911 a sheafH6016 in the fieldH7704, thou shalt not goH7725 again to fetch it: it shall beH1961 for the sojournerH1616, for the fatherlessH3490, and for the widowH490; that Jehovah thy GodH430 may blessH1288 thee in all the workH4639 of thy handsH3027. 20When thou beatest thine olive-tree, thou shalt not go over the boughs again: it shall beH1961 for the sojournerH1616, for the fatherlessH3490, and for the widowH490. 21When thou gatherest the grapes of thy vineyardH3754, thou shalt not glean it after thee: it shall beH1961 for the sojournerH1616, for the fatherlessH3490, and for the widowH490. 22And thou shalt rememberH2142 that thou wast a bondman in the landH776 of EgyptH4714: thereforeH3651 I commandH6680 thee to do this thingH1697.
