Deuteronomy 9

1HearH8085, O IsraelH3478: thou art to passH5674 over the JordanH3383 this dayH3117, to goH935 in to dispossessH3423 nationsH1471 greaterH1419 and mightierH6099 than thyself, citiesH5892 greatH1419 and fortifiedH1219 up to heavenH8064, 2a peopleH5971 greatH1419 and tall, the sonsH1121 of the Anakim, whom thou knowest, and of whom thou hast heardH8085 say, Who can standH3320 before the sonsH1121 of AnakH6061? 3KnowH3045 therefore this dayH3117, that Jehovah thy GodH430 is he who goeth over before thee as a devouringH398 fireH784; he will destroyH8045 them, and he will bring them down before thee: so shalt thou drive them out, and makeH3045 them to perishH6 quicklyH4118, as Jehovah hath spokenH1696 unto thee. 4Speak not thou in thy heartH3824, after that Jehovah thy GodH430 hath thrust them out from before thee, sayingH559, For my righteousnessH6666 Jehovah hath broughtH935 me in to possessH3423 this landH776; whereas for the wickednessH7564 of these nationsH1471 Jehovah doth drive them out from before thee. 5Not for thy righteousnessH6666, or for the uprightnessH3476 of thy heartH3824, dost thou goH935 in to possessH3423 their landH776; but for the wickednessH7564 of these nationsH1471 Jehovah thy GodH430 doth drive them out from before thee, and that he may establishH6965 the wordH1697 which Jehovah sware unto thy fathersH1, to AbrahamH85, to IsaacH3327, and to JacobH3290.

6KnowH3045 therefore, that Jehovah thy GodH430 giveth thee not this goodH2896 landH776 to possessH3423 it for thy righteousnessH6666; for thou art a stiffnecked peopleH5971. 7RememberH2142, forgetH7911 thou not, how thou provokedst Jehovah thy GodH430 to wrath in the wildernessH4057: from the dayH3117 that thou wentest forthH3318 out of the landH776 of EgyptH4714, until ye cameH935 unto this placeH4725, ye have beenH1961 rebelliousH4784 against Jehovah. 8Also in HorebH2722 ye provoked Jehovah to wrath, and Jehovah was angryH7107 with you to destroyH8045 you. 9When I was goneH5927 up into the mount to receiveH3947 the tables of stoneH68, even the tables of the covenantH1285 which Jehovah madeH3772 with you, then I abode in the mount fortyH705 daysH3117 and fortyH705 nightsH3915; I did neither eatH398 breadH3899 nor drinkH8354 waterH4325. 10And Jehovah delivered unto me the twoH8147 tables of stoneH68 writtenH3789 with the fingerH676 of GodH430; and on them was writtenH3789 according to all the wordsH1697, which Jehovah spake with you in the mount out of the midstH8432 of the fireH784 in the dayH3117 of the assemblyH6951. 11And it came to pass at the endH7093 of fortyH705 daysH3117 and fortyH705 nightsH3915, that Jehovah gaveH5414 me the twoH8147 tables of stoneH68, even the tables of the covenantH1285. 12And Jehovah saidH559 unto me, AriseH6965, get thee downH3381 quicklyH4118 from hence; for thy peopleH5971 that thou hast broughtH3318 forthH3318 out of EgyptH4714 have corruptedH7843 themselves; they are quicklyH4118 turnedH5493 asideH5493 out of the wayH1870 which I commandedH6680 them; they have madeH6213 them a molten image. 13Furthermore Jehovah spake unto me, sayingH559, I have seenH7200 this peopleH5971, and, behold, it is a stiffnecked peopleH5971: 14let me alone, that I may destroyH8045 them, and blot out their nameH8034 from under heavenH8064; and I will makeH6213 of thee a nationH1471 mightierH6099 and greaterH7227 than they. 15So I turnedH6437 and cameH3381 downH3381 from the mount, and the mount was burning with fireH784: and the twoH8147 tables of the covenantH1285 were in my twoH8147 handsH3027. 16And I lookedH7200, and, behold, ye had sinnedH2398 against Jehovah your GodH430; ye had madeH6213 you a molten calfH5695: ye had turnedH5493 asideH5493 quicklyH4118 out of the wayH1870 which Jehovah had commandedH6680 you. 17And I took hold of the twoH8147 tables, and castH7993 them out of my twoH8147 handsH3027, and brake them before your eyesH5869. 18And I fellH5307 downH5307 before Jehovah, as at the firstH7223, fortyH705 daysH3117 and fortyH705 nightsH3915; I did neither eatH398 breadH3899 nor drinkH8354 waterH4325; because of all your sinH2398 which ye sinnedH2398, in doing that which was evilH7451 in the sight of Jehovah, to provokeH3707 him to angerH3707. 19For I was afraidH3025 of the angerH639 and hot displeasure, wherewith Jehovah was wroth against you to destroyH8045 you. But Jehovah hearkened unto me that timeH6471 alsoH1571. 20And Jehovah was veryH3966 angryH599 with AaronH175 to destroyH8045 him: and I prayedH6419 for AaronH175 alsoH1571 at the same timeH6256. 21And I tookH3947 your sinH2403, the calfH5695 which ye had madeH6213, and burnt it with fireH784, and stamped it, grindingH2912 it very small, until it was as fineH1854 as dustH6083: and I castH7993 the dustH6083 thereof into the brook that descended out of the mount.

22And at TaberahH8404, and at MassahH4532, and at Kibroth-hattaavahH6914, ye provoked Jehovah to wrath. 23And whenH834 Jehovah sentH7971 you from Kadesh-barneaH6947, sayingH559, GoH5927 up and possessH3423 the landH776 which I have givenH5414 you; then ye rebelledH4784 against the commandment of Jehovah your GodH430, and ye believedH539 him not, nor hearkened to his voiceH6963. 24Ye have beenH1961 rebelliousH4784 against Jehovah from the dayH3117 that I knewH3045 you.

25So I fellH5307 downH5307 before Jehovah the fortyH705 daysH3117 and fortyH705 nightsH3915 that I fellH5307 downH5307, because Jehovah had saidH559 he would destroyH8045 you. 26And I prayedH6419 unto Jehovah, and saidH559, O Lord Jehovah, destroyH7843 not thy peopleH5971 and thine inheritanceH5159, that thou hast redeemedH6299 through thy greatnessH1433, that thou hast broughtH3318 forthH3318 out of EgyptH4714 with a mightyH2389 handH3027. 27RememberH2142 thy servantsH5650, AbrahamH85, IsaacH3327, and JacobH3290; look not unto the stubbornness of this peopleH5971, nor to their wickednessH7562, nor to their sinH2403, 28lestH6435 the landH776 whence thou broughtest us out sayH559, Because Jehovah was not ableH3201 to bringH935 them into the landH776 which he promised unto them, and because he hated them, he hath broughtH935 them out to slay them in the wildernessH4057. 29Yet they are thy peopleH5971 and thine inheritanceH5159, which thou broughtest out by thy greatH1419 power and by thine outstretchedH5186 armH2220.
