Deuteronomy 18
1The priestsH3548 the LevitesH3881, evenall the tribeH7626 of LeviH3878, shall have no portionH2506 nor inheritanceH5159 with IsraelH3478: they shall eatH398 the offeringsH801 of Jehovah made by fireH801, and his inheritanceH5159. 2And they shall have no inheritanceH5159 among their brethren: Jehovah is their inheritanceH5159, as he hath spokenH1696 unto them. 3And this shall beH1961 the priests’H3548 due from the peopleH5971, from them that offerH2076 a sacrificeH2077, whether it beH1961 oxH7794 or sheepH7716, that they shall giveH5414 unto the priestH3548 the shoulder, and the two cheeksH3895, and the maw. 4The first-fruits of thy grainH1715, of thy newH8492 wineH8492, and of thine oilH3323, and the firstH7225 of the fleeceH1488 of thy sheepH6629, shalt thou giveH5414 him. 5For Jehovah thy GodH430 hath chosenH977 him out of all thy tribesH7626, to standH5975 to minister in the nameH8034 of Jehovah, him and his sonsH1121 for ever.
6And if a LeviteH3881 comeH935 from any of thy gatesH8179 out of all IsraelH3478, whereH834 he sojourneth, and comeH935 with all the desireH5315 of his soulH5315 unto the placeH4725 which Jehovah shall chooseH977; 7then he shall minister in the nameH8034 of Jehovah his GodH430, as all his brethren the LevitesH3881 do, who standH5975 there before Jehovah. 8They shall have like portionsH2506 to eatH398, besides that which cometh of the saleH4465 of his patrimony.
9When thou art comeH935 into the landH776 which Jehovah thy GodH430 giveth thee, thou shalt not learnH3925 to do after the abominationsH8441 of those nationsH1471. 10There shall not be foundH4672 with thee any one that maketh his sonH1121 or his daughterH1323 to passH5674 through the fireH784, one that useth divinationH7081, one that practiseth augury, or an enchanter, or a sorcererH3784, 11or a charmer, or a consulter with a familiar spirit, or a wizard, or a necromancer. 12For whosoever doeth these thingsH428 is an abominationH8441 unto Jehovah: and because of these abominationsH8441 Jehovah thy GodH430 doth drive them out from before thee. 13Thou shalt beH1961 perfectH8549 with Jehovah thy GodH430. 14For these nationsH1471, that thou shalt dispossessH3423, hearken unto them that practise augury, and unto divinersH7080; but as for thee, Jehovah thy GodH430 hath not suffered thee soH3651 to do.
15Jehovah thy GodH430 will raiseH6965 up unto thee a prophetH5030 from the midstH7130 of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken; 16according to all that thou desiredst of Jehovah thy GodH430 in HorebH2722 in the dayH3117 of the assemblyH6951, sayingH559, Let me not hearH8085 againH5750 the voiceH6963 of Jehovah my GodH430, neither let me seeH7200 this greatH1419 fireH784 any more, that I dieH4191 not. 17And Jehovah saidH559 unto me, They have wellH3190 saidH559 that which they have spokenH1696. 18I will raiseH6965 them up a prophetH5030 from among their brethren, like unto thee; and I will putH5414 my wordsH1697 in his mouthH6310, and he shall speakH1696 unto them all that I shall commandH6680 him. 19And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my wordsH1697 which he shall speakH1696 in my nameH8034, I will requireH1875 it of him.
20But the prophetH5030, that shall speakH1696 a wordH1697 presumptuouslyH2102 in my nameH8034, which I have not commandedH6680 him to speakH1696, or that shall speakH1696 in the nameH8034 of otherH312 godsH430, that same prophetH5030 shall dieH4191. 21And if thou sayH559 in thy heartH3824, HowH349 shall we knowH3045 the wordH1697 which Jehovah hath not spokenH1696? 22when a prophetH5030 speaketh in the nameH8034 of Jehovah, if the thingH1697 follow not, nor comeH935 to pass, that is the thingH1697 which Jehovah hath not spokenH1696: the prophetH5030 hath spokenH1696 it presumptuously, thou shalt not beH1961 afraidH1481 of him.
