26ButregardingπερὶperiG4012theG3754factG3754thatG3754the deadνεκρῶνnekrōnG3498riseἐγείρονται,egeirontaiG1453,have you not readἀνέγνωτεanegnōteG314in the bookβίβλῳbiblōG976of MosesΜωϋσέωςMōuseōsG3475, in the passage about the burningbushβάτουbatouG942,howπῶςpōsG4459GodθεὸςtheosG2316spokeG3004to him, sayingλέγων·legōnG3004, ‘I am the GodθεὸςtheosG2316of AbrahamἈβραὰμAbraamG11,the GodθεὸςtheosG2316of IsaacἸσαὰκIsaakG2464,and the GodθεὸςtheosG2316of JacobἸακώβ;IakōbG2384’?

27He is not the GodθεὸςtheosG2316of the deadνεκρῶνnekrōnG3498,but of the livingζώντων·zōntōnG2198;you are greatlyπολὺpoluG4183mistakenπλανᾶσθε.¶planastheG4105.”

28OneεἷςheisG1520of the scribesγραμματέων,grammateōnG1122cameπροσελθὼνproselthōnG4334upG4334and heardἀκούσαςakousasG191them arguingσυζητούντων,suzētountōnG4802, andrecognizingG3708that He had answeredἀπεκρίθηapekrithēG611them wellκαλῶςkalōsG2573,askedἐπηρώτησενepērōtēsenG1905Him, “WhatποίαpoiaG4169commandmentἐντολὴentolēG1785is theforemostπρώτηprōtēG4413of allπάντων;pantōnG3956?”

29JesusἸησοῦςIēsousG2424answeredἀπεκρίθηapekrithēG611, “TheforemostπρώτηprōtēG4413is, ‘HearἄκουεakoueG191,IsraelἸσραήλ,IsraēlG2474!The LordκύριοςkuriosG2962is our GodθεὸςtheosG2316,the LordκύριοςkuriosG2962is oneεἷςheisG1520;

30and you shall loveἀγαπήσειςagapēseisG25the LordκύριονkurionG2962your GodθεόνtheonG2316with allὅληςholēsG3650your heartκαρδίαςkardiasG2588,and with allὅληςholēsG3650your soulψυχῆςpsuchēsG5590,and with allὅληςholēsG3650your mindδιανοίαςdianoiasG1271,and with allὅληςholēsG3650your strengthἰσχύοςischuosG2479.’

31The secondδευτέραdeuteraG1208is thisαὕτη·hautēG3778: ‘You shall loveἀγαπήσειςagapēseisG25your neighborπλησίονplēsionG4139as yourselfG4572.’There is noοὐκoukG3756otherἄλληallēG243commandmentἐντολὴentolēG1785greaterμείζωνmeizōnG3173than theseτούτωνtoutōnG3778.”

32And the scribeγραμματεύς·grammateusG1122saidG3004to Him, “Wellκαλῶς,kalōsG2573said,Teacherδιδάσκαλε,didaskaleG1320;You have trulyἐπ᾽ ἀληθείαςep᾽ alētheiasG1909 G225statedG3004thatHe is OneεἷςheisG1520,and there is noοὐκoukG3756otherἄλλοςallosG243besidesπλὴνplēnG4133Him;

33and to loveἀγαπᾶνagapanG25Him with allὅληςholēsG3650the heartκαρδίαςkardiasG2588,and with allὅληςholēsG3650the understandingσυνέσεωςsuneseōsG4907,and with allὅληςholēsG3650the strengthἰσχύοςischuosG2479,and to loveἀγαπᾶνagapanG25one’s neighborπλησίονplēsionG4139as oneselfἑαυτὸνhe'autonG1438,is muchG4053moreG4053than allπάντωνpantōnG3956the burntὁλοκαυτωμάτωνholokautōmatōnG3646offeringsG3646and sacrificesθυσιῶν.thusiōnG2378.”

34When JesusἸησοῦςIēsousG2424sawG3708that he had answeredἀπεκρίθηapekrithēG611intelligentlyνουνεχῶςnounechōsG3562,He saidG3004to him,“You are not farμακρὰνmakranG3112from the kingdomβασιλείαςbasileiasG932of Godθεοῦ.theouG2316.” And then,noG3762oneοὐδεὶςoudeisG3762daredἐτόλμαetolmaG5111anyG3765longerG3765to questionἐπερωτῆσαι.¶eperōtēsaiG1905Him.

35And JesusἸησοῦςIēsousG2424respondedἀποκριθεὶςapokritheisG611and begansayingἔλεγενelegenG3004, as HetaughtδιδάσκωνdidaskōnG1321in the templeG2413area,“HowπῶςpōsG4459is it thatthe scribesγραμματεῖςgrammateisG1122sayλέγουσινlegousinG3004that theChristχριστὸςchristosG5547is thesonυἱὸςhuiosG5207of DavidG1160?

39and seatsπρωτοκαθεδρίαςprōtokathedriasG4410ofG4410honorG4410in the synagoguesσυναγωγαῖςsunagōgaisG4864,and placesG4411ofG4411honorG4411at banquetsδείπνοις,deipnoisG1173,

40who devourκατεσθίοντεςkatesthiontesG2719widows’χηρῶνchērōnG5503housesοἰκίαςoikiasG3614,and for appearance’sG4392sakeG4392offerG4336longμακρὰmakraG3117prayersG4336.TheseοὗτοιhoutoiG3778will receiveλήμψονταιlēmpsontaiG2983allG4053theG4053moreG4053condemnationκρίμα.¶krimaG2917.”
