6 1EvenG2531 soG2531 2AbrahamG11 3believedG4100 GodG2316, and it was reckonedG3049 to him as righteousnessG1343. 7ThereforeG686, 4be sureG1097 that 5it is thoseG3588 who are of faithG4102 whoG3778 are 6sonsG5207 of AbrahamG11. 8The ScriptureG1124, foreseeingG4275 that GodG2316 7would justifyG1344 the 8GentilesG1484 by faithG4102, preachedG4283 the gospelG4283 beforehandG4283 to AbrahamG11, saying, “9AllG3956 the nationsG1484 will be blessedG1757 in you.” 9SoG5620 thenG5620 10thoseG3588 who are of faithG4102 are blessedG2127 with 11AbrahamG11, the believerG4103.

10For as manyG3745 as are of the worksG2041 of 12the LawG3551 are underG5259 a curseG2671; for it is writtenG1125, “13CursedG1944 is everyoneG3956 whoG3739 does not abideG1696 by allG3956 thingsG3956 writtenG1125 in the bookG975 of the lawG3551, to performG4160 them.” 11NowG1161 that 14noG3762 oneG3762 is justifiedG1344 15by 16the LawG3551 beforeG3844 GodG2316 is evidentG1212; for, “17 18The righteousG1342 manG1342 shall liveG2198 by faithG4102.” 12 19HoweverG1161, the LawG3551 is not 20of faithG4102; on the contraryG235, “21He who practicesG4160 them shall liveG2198 22by them.” 13ChristG5547 23redeemedG1805 us from the curseG2671 of the LawG3551, having becomeG1096 a curseG2671 for us--for it is writtenG1125, “24CursedG1944 is everyoneG3956 who hangsG2910 on 25a 26treeG3586”-- 14in orderG2443 that 27in ChristG5547 JesusG2424 the blessingG2129 of AbrahamG11 might 28comeG1096 to the GentilesG1484, soG2443 that we 29would receiveG2983 30the promiseG1860 of the SpiritG4151 throughG1223 faithG4102.

He does not sayG3004, “And to seedsG4690,” as referring to manyG4183, but rather to oneG1520, “38And to your seedG4690,” that is, ChristG5547. 17What I am sayingG3004 is thisG3778: the LawG3551, which cameG1096 39fourG5071 hundredG5071 and thirtyG5144 yearsG2094 laterG3326, does not invalidateG208 a covenantG1242 previouslyG4300 ratifiedG4300 by GodG2316, soG1519 as to nullifyG2673 the promiseG1860. 18For 40ifG1487 the inheritanceG2817 is 41basedG1537 on lawG3551, it is noG3765 longerG3765 42basedG1537 on a promiseG1860; but 43GodG2316 has grantedG5483 it to AbrahamG11 by meansG1223 of a promiseG1860.

19 44WhyG5101 the LawG3551 thenG3767? It was addedG4369 45becauseG5484 of transgressionsG3847, having been 46ordainedG1299 throughG1223 angelsG32 47by the 48agencyG5495 of a mediatorG3316, untilG891 49the seedG4690 would comeG2064 to whomG3739 the promiseG1861 had been madeG1861. 20NowG1161 50a mediatorG3316 is not 51for oneG1520 party only; whereasG1161 GodG2316 is only oneG1520. 21Is the LawG3551 thenG3767 contraryG2596 to the promisesG1860 of GodG2316? 52May it neverG3361 be! For 53ifG1487 a lawG3551 had been givenG1325 which was ableG1410 to impartG2227 lifeG2227, then righteousnessG1343 54would indeedG3689 have beenG1510 55basedG1537 on lawG3551. 22But the ScriptureG1124 has 56shutG4788 up 57everyoneG3956 underG5259 sinG266, soG2443 that the promiseG1860 by faithG4102 in JesusG2424 ChristG5547 might be givenG1325 to thoseG3588 who believeG4100.

23But beforeG4253 faithG4102 cameG2064, we were keptG5432 in custodyG5432 underG5259 the lawG3551, 58being shutG4788 up to the faithG4102 which was laterG3195 to be revealedG601. 24ThereforeG5620 the LawG3551 has becomeG1096 our 59tutorG3807 to lead us to ChristG5547, soG2443 that 60we may be justifiedG1344 by faithG4102. 25But nowG1161 that faithG4102 has comeG2064, we are noG3765 longerG3765 underG5259 a 61 62tutorG3807.
