23And He was sayingἔλεγενelegenG3004to them, “You are from belowκάτωkatōG2736,I amG1510from aboveἄνωanōG507;you are of thisτούτουtoutouG3778worldκόσμουkosmouG2889,I amG1510not of thisτούτου.toutouG3778worldκόσμουkosmouG2889.

24ThereforeοὖνounG3767I saidG3004to you that youwill dieἀποθανεῖσθεapothaneistheG599in your sinsἁμαρτίαιςhamartiaisG266;for unlessἐὰν μὴean mēG1437 G3361you believeπιστεύσητεpisteusēteG4100thatI amεἰμι,eimiG1510He,you will dieἀποθανεῖσθεapothaneistheG599in your sinsἁμαρτίαιςhamartiaisG266.”

25SoοὖνounG3767they were sayingἔλεγονelegonG3004to Him, “WhoG5101are You?” JesusἸησοῦς·IēsousG2424saidG3004to them, “WhatὅhoG3739 G5101have I been sayingλαλῶlalōG2980to you fromthe beginningἀρχὴνarchēnG746?

26I haveἔχωechōG2192manyπολλὰpollaG4183thingsG4183to speakλαλεῖνlaleinG2980and to judgeκρίνειν·krineinG2919concerningπερὶperiG4012you, butHe who sentπέμψαςpempsasG3992Me is trueἀληθήςalēthēsG227; andthe things whichἃhaG3739I heardἤκουσαēkousaG191from Him, theseταῦταtautaG3778I speakλαλῶlalōG2980to the worldκόσμον.kosmonG2889.”

27They did not realizeἔγνωσανegnōsanG1097that He had been speakingἔλεγεν.elegenG3004to them about the FatherπατέραpateraG3962.

28SoοὖνounG3767JesusἸησοῦς·IēsousG2424saidG3004,“WhenὅτανhotanG3752youliftὑψώσητεhupsōsēteG5312up the SonυἱὸνhuionG5207of Manἀνθρώπου,anthrōpouG444,thenτότεtoteG5119you will knowγνώσεσθεgnōsestheG1097thatI amεἰμι,eimiG1510He, andI doποιῶpoiōG4160nothingοὐδέν,oudenG3762on My ownG1683initiativeG1683,but I speakλαλῶ.lalōG2980theseG3778thingsταῦταtautaG3778as the FatherπατὴρpatērG3962taughtἐδίδαξένedidaxenG1321Me.

29And He who sentπέμψαςpempsasG3992Me is with Me; Hehas not leftἀφῆκένaphēkenG863Me aloneμόνονmononG3441, forI alwaysπάντοτε.pantoteG3842doποιῶpoiōG4160the thingsG701that are pleasingἀρεστὰarestaG701to Him.”

30As He spokeλαλοῦντοςlalountosG2980theseG3778thingsταῦταtautaG3778,manyπολλοὶpolloiG4183came to believeἐπίστευσανepisteusanG4100in Him.

31SoοὖνounG3767JesusἸησοῦςIēsousG2424was sayingἜλεγενElegenG3004to thoseG3588JewsἸουδαίους·IoudaiousG2453who had believedπεπιστευκόταςpepisteukotasG4100Him, “IfἐὰνeanG1437you continueμείνητεmeinēteG3306in My wordλόγῳlogōG3056, thenyou are trulyἀληθῶςalēthōsG230disciplesμαθηταίmathētaiG3101of Mineἐμῷ,emōG1473;

32andyou will knowγνώσεσθεgnōsestheG1097the truthἀλήθειαν,alētheianG225, andthe truthἀλήθειαalētheiaG225will makeG1659you freeἐλευθερώσειeleutherōseiG1659.”

33They answeredἀπεκρίθησανapekrithēsanG611Him, “We are Abraham’sἈβραάμAbraamG11descendantsσπέρμαspermaG4690and have neverG3762 G4455yetG4455been enslavedδεδουλεύκαμενdedouleukamenG1398to anyoneG3762;howπῶςpōsG4459is it that You sayλέγειςlegeisG3004,‘You will becomeγενήσεσθε;genēsestheG1096freeἐλεύθεροιeleutheroiG1658’?”

34JesusἸησοῦς·IēsousG2424answeredἀπεκρίθηapekrithēG611them,“TrulyἀμὴνamēnG281,trulyἀμὴνamēnG281,I sayλέγωlegōG3004to you,everyoneπᾶςpasG3956who commitsποιῶνpoiōnG4160sinἁμαρτίαν,hamartianG266is the slaveδοῦλόςdoulosG1401of sinἁμαρτίας.hamartiasG266.

35The slaveδοῦλοςdoulosG1401does not remainμένειmeneiG3306in the houseοἰκίᾳoikiaG3614foreverαἰῶνα·aiōnaG165;the sonυἱὸςhuiosG5207does remainμένειmeneiG3306foreverαἰῶνα.aiōnaG165.

36SoοὖνounG3767ifἐὰνeanG1437the SonυἱὸςhuiosG5207makesG1659you freeἐλευθερώσῃ,eleutherōsēG1659,you will be freeἐλεύθεροιeleutheroiG1658indeedὄντωςontōsG3689.
