17The GodθεὸςtheosG2316of thisτούτουtoutouG3778peopleλαοῦlaouG2992IsraelG2274choseἐξελέξατοexelexatoG1586our fathersπατέραςpaterasG3962andmadeG5312the peopleλαὸνlaonG2992greatG5312duringG1722their stayπαροικίᾳparoikiaG3940in the landγῇgēaG1093of EgyptΑἰγύπτουAiguptouG125,and with an upliftedὑψηλοῦhupsēlouG5308armβραχίονοςbrachionosG1023He ledἐξήγαγενexēgagenG1806them out from it.

20AfterμετὰmetaG3326theseG3778thingsταῦταtautaG3778HegaveἔδωκενedōkenG1325themjudgesκριτὰςkritasG2923untilἕωςhe'ōsG2193SamuelΣαμουὴλSamouēlG4545the prophetπροφήτου·prophētouG4396.

21ThenG2532theyaskedᾐτήσαντοētēsantoG154for a kingβασιλέα,basileaG935,and GodθεὸςtheosG2316gaveἔδωκενedōkenG1325themSaulΣαοὺλSaoulG4549the sonυἱὸνhuionG5207of KishΚίς,KisG2797,a manἄνδραandraG435of the tribeφυλῆςphulēsG5443of BenjaminΒενιαμίν,BeniaminG958,for fortyG5065yearsἔτηetēG2094.

25And whileὡςhōsG5613JohnἸωάννηςIōannēsG2491was completingἐπλήρουeplērouG4137his courseδρόμονdromonG1408,he kept sayingἔλεγεν·elegenG3004, ‘WhatτίtiG5101do you supposeὑπονοεῖτεhuponoeiteG5282that I amG1510?I amG1510not He.But beholdἰδοὺidouG2400,one is comingἔρχεταιerchetaiG2064afterμετ᾽met᾽G3326me the sandalsὑπόδημαhupodēmaG5266of whoseοὗhouG3739feetποδῶνpodōnG4228I amG1510not worthyἄξιοςaxiosG514to untieλῦσαι.¶lusaiG3089.’

27For thoseG3588who liveκατοικοῦντεςkatoikountesG2730in JerusalemἸερουσαλὴμIerousalēmG2419, and theirrulersἄρχοντεςarchontesG758,recognizingἀγνοήσαντεςagnoēsantesG50neither Him norG2532theutterancesφωνὰςphōnasG5456ofthe prophetsπροφητῶνprophētōnG4396which arereadἀναγινωσκομένας,anaginōskomenasG314everyπᾶνpanG3956SabbathσάββατονsabbatonG4521,fulfilledἐπλήρωσαν·eplērōsanG4137theseby condemningκρίναντεςkrinantesG2919Him.

28And though they foundεὑρόντεςheurontesG2147noμηδεμίανmēdemianG3367groundαἰτίανaitianG156for putting Him to death, theyaskedᾐτήσαντοētēsantoG154PilateΠιλᾶτονPilatonG4091that He beexecutedἀναιρεθῆναιanairethēnaiG337.

29WhenὡςhōsG5613they hadcarriedἐτέλεσανetelesanG5055out allπάνταpantaG3956that was writtenγεγραμμένα,gegrammenaG1125concerningπερὶperiG4012Him,they tookG2507Him downκαθελόντεςkathelontesG2507from thecrossξύλουxulouG3586andlaidἔθηκανethēkanG5087Him in a tombμνημεῖον.mnēmeionG3419.

30But GodθεὸςtheosG2316raisedἤγειρενēgeirenG1453Him from the deadνεκρῶν,nekrōnG3498;

31and for manyπλείουςpleiousG4183daysἡμέραςhēmerasG2250He appearedG3708to thoseG3588who cameσυναναβᾶσινsunanabasinG4872up with Him from GalileeΓαλιλαίαςGalilaiasG1056to JerusalemἸερουσαλήμ,IerousalēmG2419,the very onesG3748whoG3748are nowνῦνnunG3568His witnessesμάρτυρεςmarturesG3144to the peopleλαόν.laonG2992.

32And wepreachG2097to you the goodG2097newsG2097ofthe promiseἐπαγγελίανepangelianG1860madeγενομένην,genomenēnG1096to the fathersπατέραςpaterasG3962,

34As for the fact that HeraisedἀνέστησενanestēsenG450Him up from the deadνεκρῶνnekrōnG3498,noμηκέτιmēketiG3371longerG3371to returnὑποστρέφεινhupostrepheinG5290to decayδιαφθοράν,diaphthoranG1312,He has spokenG3004in thisG3779wayG3779: ‘I will giveδώσωdōsōG1325you the holyὅσιαhosiaG3741andsureπιστά.pistaG4103blessingsof DavidG1160.’

35ThereforeδιότιdiotiG1360He alsoκαὶkaiG2532saysλέγει·legeiG3004in anotherἑτέρῳheterōG2087Psalm, ‘You will notallowδώσειςdōseisG1325YourHolyὅσιόνhosionG3741OneG3741toundergoG3708decayδιαφθοράν.diaphthoranG1312.’

36ForDavidG1160, after he hadservedὑπηρετήσαςhupēretēsasG5256the purposeβουλῇboulēaG1012of GodθεοῦtheouG2316in his ownἰδίᾳidiaG2398generationγενεᾷgeneaG1074,fellG2837asleepἐκοιμήθηekoimēthēG2837,and was laidπροσετέθηprosetethēG4369amongπρὸςprosG4314his fathersπατέραςpaterasG3962andunderwentG3708decayδιαφθοράν·diaphthoranG1312;

37but He whomὃνhonG3739GodθεὸςtheosG2316raisedἤγειρεν,ēgeirenG1453did notundergoG3708decayδιαφθοράν.¶diaphthoranG1312.

38ThereforeοὖνounG3767let it be knownΓνωστὸνGnōstonG1110to you, brethrenἄνδρες ἀδελφοί,andres adelphoiG435 G80, thatthroughδιὰdiaG1223Him forgivenessἄφεσιςaphesisG859of sinsἁμαρτιῶνhamartiōnG266is proclaimedκαταγγέλλεται·katangelletaiG2605to you,

39andthroughἐνenG1722HimeveryoneG3956who believesπιστεύωνpisteuōnG4100isfreedδικαιωθῆναι,dikaiōthēnaiG1344from allG3956thingsG3956,from whichὧνhōnG3739you couldἠδυνήθητεēdunēthēteG1410not befreedδικαιοῦται.dikaioutaiG1344throughἐνenG1722the LawνόμῳnomōG3551of MosesΜωϋσέωςMōuseōsG3475.

40ThereforeοὖνounG3767takeβλέπετεblepeteG991heedG991,soμὴmēG3361that the thingG3004spokenG3004ofin the Prophetsπροφήταις·prophētaisG4396may not comeἐπέλθῃepelthēG1904upon you:

41‘BeholdG3708,you scoffersκαταφρονηταί,kataphronētaiG2707,and marvelθαυμάσατεthaumasateG2296, andperishἀφανίσθητε,aphanisthēteG853;For I am accomplishingἐργάζομαιergazomaiG2038a workἔργονergonG2041in your daysἡμέραιςhēmeraisG2250,A workἔργονergonG2041whichὃhoG3739you will neverοὐ μὴou mēG3756 G3361believeπιστεύσητεpisteusēteG4100,thoughἐάνeanG1437someoneτιςtisG5100should describeἐκδιηγῆταιekdiēgētaiG1555it to you.’”
