Psalms 73
A Psalm of Asaph.
1Truly 1GodH430 is goodH2896 to IsraelH3478, to such as are of a pureH1249 heartH3824.2But as for me, my feetH7272 were almost gone, my steps had well nigh slipped;3For I was envious at the arrogant, seeingH7200 the prosperity of the wickedH7563.4For they have no pangs in their deathH4194, and their body is well nourished;5They have not the hardships of mankind, neither are they plagued like [other] menH120:6ThereforeH3651 prideH1346 encompasseth them as a neck-chain, violenceH2555 covereth them [as] a garmentH7897;7Their eyesH5869 stand out from fatness, they exceed the imaginations of their heartH3824:8They mock and speakH1696 wickedly of oppressionH6233, they speakH1696 loftily:9They set their mouthH6310 in the heavensH8064, and their tongueH3956 walketh through the earthH776.10ThereforeH3651 his peopleH5971 turnH7725 hither, and watersH4325 in fulness are wrung out to them.11And they sayH559, HowH349 can 2GodH410 knowH3045, and is there knowledge in the Most High?12Behold, these are the wickedH7563, and they prosper in the world: they heap up riches.13Truly have I purified my heartH3824 in vain, and washedH7364 my handsH3709 in innocency:14For all the dayH3117 have I beenH1961 plagued, and chastened every morningH1242.15If I saidH559, I will speak thus, behold, I should be faithless to the generationH1755 of thy children.16When I thought to be able to knowH3045 this, it was a grievous task in mine eyesH5869;17Until I wentH935 into the sanctuariesH4720 of 3GodH410; [then] understoodH995 I their endH319.18Truly thou settest them in slippery places, thou castest them downH5307 in ruins.19HowH349 are they suddenly made desolate! they pass away, consumed with terrorsH1091.20As a dreamH2472, when one awaketh, wilt thou, LordH136, on arising despiseH959 their imageH6754.21When my heartH3824 was in a ferment, and I was pricked in my reins,22Then I wasH1961 brutish and knewH3045 nothing; I wasH1961 [as] a beast with thee.23Nevertheless I am continuallyH8548 with thee: thou hast holden my rightH3225 handH3027;24Thou wilt guideH5148 me by thy counselH6098, and after the gloryH3519, thou wilt receiveH3947 me.25Whom have I in the heavensH8064? and there is none upon earthH776 I desireH2654 beside thee.26My fleshH7607 and my heartH3824 faileth: 4GodH430 is the rockH6697 of my heartH3824 and my portionH2506 for everH5769.27For behold, they that are far from thee shall perishH6; thou destroyest every one that goeth a whoring from thee.28But as for me, it is goodH2896 for me to draw near to 5GodH430: I have putH7896 my trust in the LordH136 Jehovah, that I may declare all thy worksH4399.
