Psalms 74
An instruction: of Asaph.
1WhyH4100, O 1GodH430, hast thou cast off for ever? [whyH4100] doth thine angerH639 smokeH6225 against the sheepH6629 of thy pastureH4830?2RememberH2142 thine assemblyH5712, which thou hast purchased of old, which thou hast redeemedH1350 [to be] the portion of thine inheritanceH5159, this mount ZionH6726, wherein thou hast dweltH7931.3LiftH7311 up thy steps unto the perpetual desolations: everythingH3605 in the sanctuaryH6944 hath the enemyH341 destroyed.4Thine adversaries roarH7580 in the midstH7130 of thy placeH7760 of assembly; they setH7760 up their signsH226 [for] signsH226.5[A man] was knownH3045 as he could lift up axes in the thicketH5442 of treesH6086;6And nowH6258 they break down its carved work altogetherH3162, with hatchets and hammers.7They have set on fireH784 thy sanctuaryH4720, they have profanedH2490 the habitation of thy nameH8034 to the groundH776.8They saidH559 in their heartH3820, Let us destroy them togetherH3162: they have burnedH8313 up all 2God's places of assembly in the landH776.9We seeH7200 not our signsH226; there is no more any prophetH5030, neither is there among us any that knoweth howH4100 long.10How long, O 3GodH430, shall the adversary reproachH2778? Shall the enemyH341 contemn thy nameH8034 for ever?11WhyH4100 withdrawest thou thy handH3027, and thy rightH3225 handH3027? [pluck it] out of thy bosom: consume [them].12But 4GodH430 is my kingH4428 of old, accomplishing deliverances in the midstH7130 of the earthH776.13Thou didst divide the seaH3220 by thy strengthH5797; thou didst breakH7665 the headsH7218 of the monstersH8577 on the watersH4325:14Thou didst break in pieces the headsH7218 of leviathanH3882, thou gavest him to be meat to those that peopleH5971 the desert.15Thou didst cleave fountain and torrent, thou driedst up ever-flowing riversH5104.16The dayH3117 is thine, the nightH3915 alsoH637 is thine; thou hast preparedH3559 the moon and the sunH8121:17Thou hast setH5324 all the bordersH1367 of the earthH776; summerH7019 and winterH2779 — thou didst form them.18RememberH2142 this, that an enemyH341 hath reproached Jehovah, and a foolishH5036 peopleH5971 have contemned thy nameH8034.19GiveH5414 not up the soulH5315 of thy turtle-dove unto the wild beast; forgetH7911 not the troop of thine afflictedH6041 for ever.20Have respect unto the covenantH1285; for the darkH4285 placesH4285 of the earthH776 are fullH4390 of the dwellings of violenceH2555.21Oh let not the oppressed one returnH7725 ashamedH3637; let the afflictedH6041 and needyH34 praiseH1984 thy nameH8034.22RiseH6965 up, O 5GodH430, plead thine own causeH7379: rememberH2142 how the foolishH5036 man reproacheth thee all the dayH3117;23ForgetH7911 not the voiceH6963 of thine adversaries: the tumult of those that riseH6965 up against thee ascendeth continuallyH8548.
