Psalm 139

Darby Bible

To the chief Musician. A Psalm of David.

1Jehovah, thou hast searchedH2713 me, and knownH3045 [me].2Thou knowest my down-sitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afarH7350 off;3Thou searchest out my pathH734 and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my waysH1870;4For there is not yet a wordH4405 on my tongueH3956, [but] lo, O Jehovah, thou knowest it altogether.5Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thy handH3709 upon me.6O knowledgeH1847 too wonderful for me! it is highH7682, I cannot [attain] unto it.7Whither shall I go from thy SpiritH7307? and whither fleeH1272 from thy presenceH6440?8If I ascend up into the heavensH8064 thou art there; or if I make my bedH3331 in SheolH7585, behold, thou [art there];9[If] I takeH5375 the wingsH3671 of the dawnH7837 [and] dwellH7931 in the uttermost parts of the seaH3220,10Even there shall thy handH3027 leadH5148 me, and thy rightH3225 handH3027 shall holdH270 me.11And if I sayH559, SurelyH389 darknessH2822 shall cover me, and the lightH216 about me be nightH3915;12Even darknessH2822 hideth not from thee, and the nightH3915 shineth as the dayH3117: the darknessH2822 is as the lightH215.13For thou hast possessed my reins; thou didst cover me in my mother's wombH990.14I will praiseH3034 thee, for I am fearfully, wonderfully madeH3045. Marvellous are thy worksH4639; and [that] my soulH5315 knoweth right well.15My bones were not hiddenH3582 from thee whenH834 I was madeH6213 in secret, curiously wrought in the lower partsH8482 of the earthH776.16Thine eyesH5869 did seeH7200 my unformed substance, and in thy bookH5612 all [my members] were writtenH3789; [during many] daysH3117 were they fashioned, when [as yet] there was none of them.17But howH4100 preciousH3365 are thy thoughts unto me, O 1GodH410! howH4100 great is the sum of them!18[If] I would countH5608 them, they are more in number than the sandH2344. When I awake, I am stillH5750 with thee.19Oh that thou wouldest slay the wickedH7563, O 2GodH433! And ye menH376 of bloodH1818, departH5493 from me.20For they speak of thee wickedly, they takeH5375 [thy name] in vain, thine enemies.21Do not I hateH8130 them, O Jehovah, that hateH8130 thee? and do not I loathe them that rise up against thee?22I hateH8130 them with perfect hatredH8135; I account them mine enemiesH341.23SearchH2713 me, O 3GodH410, and knowH3045 my heartH3824; prove me, and knowH3045 my thoughtsH8312;24And seeH7200 if there be any grievous wayH1870 in me; and leadH5148 me in the wayH1870 everlasting.
