John 1:20-28
And he acknowledged and deniedG720 not, and acknowledged, I amG1510 not the ChristG5547.
And they askedG2065 him, What then? Art thou Elias? And he saysG3004, I amG1510 not. Art thou the prophetG4396? And he answeredG611, No.
They saidG3004 thereforeG3767 to him, Who art thou? that we may giveG1325 an answerG612 to those who sentG3992 us. What sayest thou of thyself?
He saidG3004, I [am] [the] voiceG5456 of oneG3588 cryingG994 in the wildernessG2048, Make straight the pathG3598 of [the] LordG2962, as saidG3004 Esaias the prophetG4396.
And they wereG1510 sentG649 from among the PhariseesG5330.
And they askedG2065 him and saidG3004 to him, WhyG5101 baptisest thou then, if thou art not the ChristG5547, nor Elias, nor the prophetG4396?
JohnG2491 answeredG611 them sayingG3004, I baptise with waterG5204. In the midstG3319 of you standsG2476, whom ye do not know,
he who comesG2064 after me, the thong of whose sandalG5266 I amG1510 not worthyG514 to unloose.
These thingsG3778 took placeG1096 in BethanyG963, across the JordanG2446, whereG3699 JohnG2491 wasG1510 baptising.
