2 Timothy 2

1Thou thereforeG3767, my childG5043, be strong in the graceG5485 which [is] in ChristG5547 JesusG2424. 2And the thingsG3778 thou hast heardG191 of me in the presence of manyG4183 witnessesG3144, these entrust to faithfulG4103 menG444, such as shall beG1510 competent to instruct othersG2087 alsoG2532. 3Take thy share in suffering as a goodG2570 soldierG4757 of JesusG2424 ChristG5547. 4No oneG3762 going as a soldierG4754 entangles himself with the affairs of lifeG979, that he may pleaseG700 him who has enlisted him as a soldierG4754. 5And if alsoG2532 any oneG5100 contend [in the games], he is not crownedG4737 unless he contend lawfullyG3545. 6The husbandman must labour before partaking of the fruitsG2590. 7Think of what I sayG3004, for the LordG2962 will giveG1325 thee understandingG4907 in all thingsG3956. 8RememberG3421 JesusG2424 ChristG5547 raisedG1453 from among [the] deadG3498, of [the] seedG4690 of DavidG1138, accordingG2596 to my glad tidings, 9in which I suffer even unto bonds as an evil-doer: but the wordG3056 of 1GodG2316 is not boundG1210. 10For this cause I endureG5278 all thingsG3778 for the sakeG1223 of the electG1588, that they alsoG2532 may obtainG5177 the salvationG4991 which [is] in ChristG5547 JesusG2424 with eternalG166 gloryG1391. 11The wordG3056 [is] faithfulG4103; for if we have diedG4880 together with [him], we shall alsoG2532 liveG4800 together; 12if we endureG5278, we shall alsoG2532 reignG4821 together; if we denyG720, he alsoG2532 will denyG720 us; 13if we are unfaithful, he abidesG3306 faithfulG4103, for he cannot denyG720 himself. 14Of these thingsG3778 put in remembranceG5279, testifyingG1263 earnestly before the LordG2962 not to have disputes of words, profitable for nothing, to the subversion of the hearers. 15Strive diligently to presentG3936 thyself approved to 2GodG2316, a workmanG2040 that has not to be ashamed, cutting in a straight line the wordG3056 of truthG225. 16But profaneG952, vain babblings shun, for they will advance to greaterG4183 impiety, 17and their wordG3056 will spread as a gangrene; of whom isG1510 HymenaeusG5211 and Philetus; 18[men] who as to the truthG225 have gone astrayG795, sayingG3004 that the resurrectionG386 has taken placeG1096 alreadyG2235; and overthrow the faithG4102 of some. 19Yet the firmG2476 foundationG2310 of 3GodG2316 standsG2476, having this sealG4973, [The] LordG2962 knowsG1097 those that areG1510 his; and, Let every oneG3778 who namesG3686 the nameG3686 of [the] LordG2962 withdraw from iniquityG93. 20But in a greatG3173 houseG3614 there areG1510 not onlyG3440 gold and silverG693 vesselsG4632, but alsoG2532 wooden and earthenG3749; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. 21If thereforeG3767 oneG5100 shall have purified himself from these, [in separating himself from them], he shall beG1510 a vesselG4632 to honour, sanctifiedG37, serviceable to the MasterG1203, preparedG2090 for every goodG18 workG2041. 22But youthful lustsG1939 fleeG5343, and pursueG1377 righteousnessG1343, faithG4102, loveG26, peaceG1515, with those that callG1941 upon the LordG2962 out of a pureG2513 heartG2588. 23But foolishG3474 and senseless questionings avoid, knowing that they beget contentions. 24And a bondman of [the] LordG2962 oughtG1163 not to contend, but beG1510 gentle towards all; apt to teachG1317; forbearing; 25in meekness setting right those who oppose, if 4GodG2316 perhaps may sometime giveG1325 them repentanceG3341 to acknowledgment of [the] truthG225, 26and that they may awake up out of the snareG3803 of the devilG1228, [who are] taken by him, for his will.
